"We have been there countless times and still love it!"
Alright! Let's be honest here! I have been to a lot of resorts in the Carribean. I've seen good and bad. But seriously, everybody's idea of a five star resort in the United States is not the same as 5 star resorts in Carribean! That's a simple fact. You can pay a lot of money and get something close to a 5 star, but it will never really measure up. I'll tell you this though! My wife and I have been coming to THIS Island resort for over twenty years. We have made many friends from around the world, and they continue to come back.We have made many friends who actually work at the resort...awesome people! Obviously, there is something that brings us back to this resort! Here's a brief list: Extremely nice employees, most beautiful resort beach on the island, very helpful staff, away from the hustle and bustle of town. It's just beautiful!
"Love the Allegro Cozumel!"
When you get there ask for multiple bed pads so that it is softer. We like a soft bed and theirs are reallllllllly hard unless you use the pads! We love the beach and dock because it is so small and cozy. Great customer service. The dive shop is great. We like going in January and Feb. Have been here many times. Don't engage the time-share people unless you are REALLY interested.
"Great experience!!"
This was our first stay at Allegro and we absolutely fell in love with it. The staff was amazing, Sergio and Raul were great! The location was perfect. The grounds were well maintained and were landscaped beautifully. We saw many iguanas throughout the resort. The kids fell in love with the water park. The beach was very clean and was perfect for the kids. We would definitely go back again and we will recommend it to our friends and family.
"Another wonderful Allegro vacation!"
We have been staying at the Allegro for 12 years now. As always, we had a great time. The entire staff is excellent. Our room was always and comfortable. Many people mention the hard beds, we have never experienced this. My husband and I always sleep like babies. The service is fantastic. We have stayed at two other places during the 14 years we have been going to Cozumel, but the Allegro is "home". My only complaint is that we don't go more or stay longer ! Maybe this year. Please don't change a thing !
"First trip to Mexico"
We can't say any thing negative about our stay at Allegro.Staff ,room activities, travel agents was great.Clean beach and well maintained property.Went on a well organized tour of the island. Airport was a bit disorganized through customs . Would highly recommend and we will re return.
"Allegro Cozumel is excellent!"
I would like to take the time to thank all of the staff at Allegro Cozumel. Thank you! This was our family's second time visiting Allegro and was again a wonderful time. Allegro has the best beach on the island. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The resorts layout is open and clean. I would like to thank David who was the entainment director and was great with our kids. He kept kids busy with soccer, beach vollyball, spanish lessons and bingo. Just a great guy! We'll be back again!
"Enjoyable stay for a budget vacation."
We just returned from our holiday vacation from Allegro Cozumel. Overall, our vacation was very enjoyable. This was approximately our tenth Caribbean destination. Allegro and Cozumel have a lot to offer. Here are some highlights of our spectacular vacation.
Allegro is a beautifully landscaped well spread out resort in which we never felt crowded despite the hotel being at full capacity. Allegro offers four pools to include two with background views of the ocean and a kids pool with a water park (the pool was only a foot and a half deep with small water slides; well enjoyed by our seven year old daughter).
The staff at the activities club was awesome! They really go out of their way to interact with the guests (Sonia, William, Noe, and David were so great). Activities include bracelet making with kids, water aerobics, water polo, volleyball, Spanish & dance lessons as well as much more. On a down side, there are limited kids activities as there is no dedicated kids activity staff as the activities staff were tasked with all of hotel activities.
Dive Shop was top of the line. Both my wife and I did the PADI recertification course due to lack of diving for three years or so. The dive shop staff and dive masters were extremely professional. It was very convenient to have some of the best dives on the planet within minutes of the hotels pier.
The food at Allegro was typical of most all inclusive. However, the resort only offers two by reservation restaurants and two buffet restaurants which are probably inadequate for the size of the resort.
The fitness center is typical of a small all inclusive resort.
Bottom line:
We had a great vacation at Allegro. If you are easy going (low maintenance) and want a resort with nice pools with an ocean background with price in mind, then you will probably be pleased. However, if you expect more than three star service, then pay more for a four or five star resort.
"Unexecpted Pleasure"
I read the reviews of this hotel before I booked it. I was somewhat concerned by the lack of positive comments. I was looking for an inexpensive trip with a bar and a beach. I was not looking for a mega resort that reminded me of Las Vegas NV.
This hotel exceeded our expectatioins on all levels except the comfort of our bed. The staff was so kind and welcoming. We had excellent service from everyone we met. They even remembered our names and greeted us everytime they saw us. The first thing the receptionist said to us when we arrived was 'Welcome Home'. I truly felt loving kindness from everyone.
The beach is nice and clean. The bartenders are wonderful. The food was simple but well prepared and with good flavor. Every aspect of this hotel was exceedingly clean and well kept. It is dated and older but kept in great condition.
Overall, we would come back to this hotel and would recommend it. If your not looking for a 5 star hotel but a 5 star staff, this would be a good choice.
You can book snorkel and dive trips at the PADI center at the hotel and that will provide you with exceptional underwater excitement.
Thank you staff of Allegro. You made our vacation a real treat. Merry Christmas!
"Allegro Cozumel was wonderful!!!"
The staff, the food, the rooms, all were so nice!!! The beach is the absolute best in Cozumel! Lots of activities if that is what you are looking for or just quiet relaxation on the beach!!! We will go back for sure, in fact are booked in April 2014 already!
"Occidental Allegro"
My husband and I always stay at the Allegro when we travel to Cozumel. This was our 4th time there Dec 1-11th, 2013. We are avid divers and there is a good dive shop right on the premises or you can be picked up on the dock by any other dive operation you prefer. The best dive sites are in the south so the location is fantastic. The white sand beach is very beautiful.
But the best thing is the staff here! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Even the guests get into this and are more friendly than other resorts in Cozumel! Raul the restaurant manager is great! Other staff members we love are Anna & Santos. The buffet restaurant is quite good but
make sure you get to the Mexican al la carte restaurant at least once during your stay. It is our favourite. There is a car rental place across the street (though a little expensive) but it is nice to drive over to the other side of the island to see the big waves and nice beaches there.
This resort is quite reasonably priced and we are already planning to go back here again next year.
"Occidental allegro"
We stayed here in April 2013. The room was a one bedroom. I understand they were going to do some remodeling in the near future. We rented a jeep and toured the island. I would do it again. First time driving here but no problem. The beach was great an the water clear. You can walk down to Albertos and have lunch or dinner. They have great fish tocos. I have stayed a few times in the past.
"Friendliest Staff EVER! Great Beach"
Visited Cozumel on Cruise years ago and wanted to spend an entire week this time so booked the Allegro Cozumel for our 25th Anniversary trip. Have traveled to Caribbean destinations at least 30 times over the last 22 years. We felt like part of the family the week we spent with them (Nov 29th - Dec 7th) Everything was kept very clean. No problem with illness/we did use the bottled water but the ice and food was all ok. Quality of food was excellent but as others noted selection was a bit limited and repetitive but with the choices available I was able to have different selections through out the week. (nice soups/different everyday) They did do a very good job at the Mexican Restaurant, so much so that we opted to go there 2X so didn't make it to the Oriental. We were always greeted by Landy or Arturo at every meal and all the wait staff was excellent. They always made sure everything was ok and that drinks were there and empty plates taken away. Appreciated them so much. They made our anniversary so special/made a delicious decorated cake just for us! Of course we enjoyed a bottle of Champagne. The grounds were beautiful/well maintained...Pool area and Beach had ample seating Pools always looked great although due to time of year and lots of rain through our 1st couple of days the pool was cooler than the ocean so we opted to swim in the Ocean which is beautiful here. Beach Towels were never a problem/always had clean dry towels even if needed exchange during the day. They played a great variety of music around the pool/beach from Mexican/Elvis to Country, then started even some Christmas music before we left. Great place to practice snorkeling- we did take a tour from Hotel peer to go out to several snorkel/dive reef spots where much more to see. Rented a car from Alamo across the road for 2 days to explore the Island on our own. Very nice being able to see what we wanted at our leisure, enjoyed the east side of island a few times/visited the San Gervasio Ruins east of San Miguel/Hacienda Tequila Tour/Senor Iguana's restaurant/stopped multiple times to take photos along the coast. Avoided the timeshare both totally/been there did that but if you are interested in that sort of thing they do give you stuff I guess. It is located directly out from Lobby with staff morning and evenings. There is also a Taxi service directly in front of Hotel also so they are readily available if you like. There are shows every night, we enjoyed a black light show/fire show on the beach one night - Kids club do a preshow and they showed movies around 6:30pm in the evenings. Always was some activities/we didn't participate in so much due to needed serious relax time. There were a lot of families there with small children and it seemed like a really nice place for kids too. Large Kids Pool/Large Play area/Kids club ect. Would like to return with Grandchildren. They would love it. We definitely Plan to return soon. Got Much needed relaxation/Great Island/ Great People and looked like Paradise!
"Great resort"
We recently went on a cruise that stopped for the day in Cozumel and we booked this hotel for the day. It was a good value for the money. It was $40 per person to eat and drink all day. The breakfast bar was great and the lunch buffet was the best! The bar opened at 10 am and we got to drink free alcoholic beverages all day. It was well worth the money we spent. the resort has 3 pools and the best beach. The locals were all so nice. The only thing is we went in November and the pools were very cold. The hot tub was not heated! I would go back and stay there again if I ever visit Cozumel again.
"good quality / price value"
We spend a week at this resort. The primary reason for choosing this hotel was for the quality of diving, and the beach. The resort was very nice (pools, houses, vegetation). The staff working there was very kind and gave a very good service. The ''a la carte'' restaurants were very good. Breakfast and lunchs were excellent, but the dinner buffet could could have been better. Everything was very clean. Diving was excellent, and the dive shop on site is very practical. The bar service is efficient and the drinks are good. A good value for money.
"True Paradise"
We spent 4 days at this resort and had a wonderful time! The hotel was recently renovated and everything was very nice and clean. The pools and beach were stunning, my kids loved the water park. Lots of activities to keep you busy if you want, but also quiet and relaxing. We noticed a very international crowd of people from all over the world! All of the staff was really friendly and accomodating! With that said, we rented a jeep and had some drinks and shrimp ceviche on the beach for $50. So, the hotel in comparison was a bargain! They offered some really delicious salsas. We loved the thatched roofs, and our room was very basic, but clean and cool. We did get the mattress toppers on the second night, and that was helpful. You can snorkel right at the hotel and see a lot. We took a snorkel tour and it was amazing!
"Great Value"
We just got back from a 1 week stay at this resort. First & foremost are the personel here. The only word to completely say for all of them from the maids, bartenders, waiters, everyone is AWESOME. They make this resort.
the room we had 5713 was very comfortable and as someone else said the outside hammock is a very nice feature. The beach is one of the prettiest we have been to.
The food was a big disappointmet for sure. none of the "specialty" resturants were open so we had buffet all the time. I'll just leave it as a disappointment. I know its not a 5 star hotel but i did expect better food.
If you can get by the food issue the resort is one of the better ones that we have stayed at.
"Returning for the 3rd year in a row!"
Spent a total of 3+ weeks in Allegro Cozumel the past 3 years, once a summer. Stayed there about 10 years ago also when the hotel was the Allegro Diamond Resort. ProDive, the current in-house dive shop is safety-conscious (if a little bit on the rigid side), with friendly and conscientious dive masters and instructors. Diving the Palanccar Reef system is reliably enjoyable and fun.
The food is good. About one week is all I think most people will enjoy the menu as an all-inclusive guest. A great place for families!
We especially enjoyed using our RCI membership to enjoy the First Club rooms. Karina and Mario and their team are wonderful hosts.
"Wonderful place to stay~"
We spent 9 days in Allegro. I would choose this again over all the multitude of places we have stayed in Cozumel. I was a little worried reading past reviews but my complaints are very few.
I thought the food was quite good. I managed to gain 3 pounds in 9 days. It speaks for itself. The morning omelets are a masterpiece and the lady that makes them incredible . It is fun just watching her. The fish and chicken offered daily were always incredible. The waiters are a class of their own. They knew our likes and dislikes and even catered to my daughters American Girl doll. It appears they truly love their job and it shows. One of the most memorable experiences was when I shared we were celebrating our anniversary and asked only for a Red tablecloth that evening (they celebrate many things and many birthdays for guests). To my delight, I arrived to the most amazing romantic table for our family and the chef prepared for us a 5 course culinary delight at no cost. The service was unmatched anywhere I have been.
The beds are quite hard but they supply mattress toppers free of charge.
I think this is an incredible place for family's and family reunions. The family friendly opportunities the best I have seen on the island. We saw lion fish, eel, octopus and stingray just snorkeling off the beach. Although our kids are 11, we all had a riot in the kids pool. There are iguana and Crabs living under the rooms and watching them a delight for all. We dove with "Dive with Martin" everyday as I feel they are the best but there was a multitude of family friendly activities every evening. I have only two complaints. If the hotel had bus service to the Airport and into town a few times/day it would really boost tourism in town and I suspect get them more clients. Reasonable rates for internet would also help. Car rental has become quite expensive as they now demand you purchase their insurance.
"the staff and premises are awesome sauce"
they have a large complex with a gym, spa, restaurants, and many pools. the staff is truly five star. they are fun, and welcoming, and overall just awesome. the rooms are comfortable and the hammock outside is the best part. they have daily activities like beach volleyball and miniature golf which were coordinated by an awesome dude with a great personality. this is a family resort so if you don't like kids or have them, head over to their sister resort which is adults only.
the beach and pools are clean and pristine. the food is diverse and tasty and the bartenders are always eager to please. they have many watersports too like scuba, snorkeling, and kayaking.
the highlight for me not only was the scenery, but the staff. they definitely make you feel welcome and are fun. i'm glad i chose this hotel ;)
"I would be cheating if I stayed anywhere but the Allegro!"
I stay at the Allegro for a lot of reasons but first and foremost the staff is the primary reason to go to Allegro. They understand giving the customer the Wow Experience. The daily and nightly activities are a definite highlight and you cannot find a nicer beach in Cozumel than the Allegro.
