"The best resort ever!"
We stayed at the Cancun Riviera from 11/23-11/30. We took our kids who are 7 and 8. This is the best family resort ever! The kids club is wonderful. They give the parents a pager so when the kids want us, they page us. Our kids wanted to go to the kids club every day. It allowed for some adult time. The food was immaculate! The restaurants were each unique and had their own taste. The entertainment staff did a wonderful job. The service was world class. From check-in to eating to drinking to our room service - everything was over the top! The resort activities were fun for adults and kids. There were so many family with kids at this resort. . I would recommend this resort to everyone! The experience was amazing
"Best Vacation Ever!"
Over worked need a unwind this is the place. The staff are friendly, entertainments outstanding. Try the spa what a day. Then relax on the beach swim in the Caribbean then relax in the Sun. Great trip.
"Terrific staff, entertainment, food and atmosphere everyday!"
What fantastic resort tailor made to everyone's needs. We experience a beautiful destination Wedding of our niece and at the same time family oriented for couples with kids. The staff were unbelievable. Plenty of interesting excursions available for the adventurous type or just for relaxing. All around a perfect destination! Would definitely recommend highly!!!!
"We felt like VIPs!"
Just returned from a four day trip to Cancun Riviera Resort. I've taken several trips like this one with my grown daughter to various all-inclusive resorts in the Riviera Maya area. This trip was the best!
We felt totally pampered, the resort was beautiful, and food was wonderful.
We felt VIP'd every day. I recommend this resort highly. Nothing was overlooked or forgotten.
"Its a dream"
fantastic hotel staff great 24 hour service fantastic rooms just brilliant only downside is the road there. cant recommend this hotel enough plus the little touches like the birthday cake for the wife and complimentary champaigne breakfast for our anniversary
"Loved it!"
This was my 2nd time here in as many years. Great resort! Pools and beach are clean and well staffed. We had great experiences at all of the restaurants, great food and great service. Definitely recommending to my friends.
"The best Mexican vacation yet"
We were made welcome and comfortable from the time of check in to checkout. We are in our 70s so we enjoyed the ease of accessing all the resorts amenities, everything was only a short walk away from our room. The rooms are spacious, clean, quiet, comfortable and very well maintained. The variety of dining choices were incredible with no restrictions other than long pants in a couple of them. The restaurant staff were friendly went out of their way to please. The choices and quality of drinks at the bar were incredible and of course the bar staff were great. The beach was clean and well supervised and we enjoyed sailing the catamarans a couple of times. I accidentally cut my head at the beach and was instantly attended to by the lifeguard who suggested I visit the doctor on the resort by the Spa. Can't wait to come back.

"It's why they call it Dreams"
We went to the Riviera Cancun for our honeymoon and we felt like royalty, they take care of everything. We stayed in a preferred club room so had access to the preferred club lounge which was nice to visit when we wanted a more private drink or snack. The staff could not do enough for us, the maids cleaned and tidied the room better than I could have done myself and the waiter staff were so attentive but not imposing. The food in the world cafe was amazing, usually buffet food at all inclusives can be a hit or miss but there was so much choice and the food was so fresh. The a la carte restaurants were amazing too, our favourites were the himitsu as its a fun dining experience with plenty of choice for food and the Bordeaux restaurant was superb and the food was to die for with things like fillet steak and rack of lamb cooked to perfection, the food in this restaurant was better than any food I've ever had in France! Our waiter Angel was so nice and very professional, he really stood out for us, I only wish we got service like it back home. The entertainment at night was very impressive, we really looked forward to the shows. The cocktails were fab and we were spoiled for choice with the branded spirits which were available all day, grey goose vodka, Bombay sapphire gin and jack Daniels to name a few. It was our honeymoon and because we had booked the preferred club room we received the honeymoon package for free, the romantic meal on the beach was so special as was our couples massage and breakfast in bed. I would definately recommend this hotel to everyone, we had an amazing time and a honeymoon to remember, we will definately be coming back
"a true dream"
We went to riviera cancun for 3 weeks which included my wedding which was on the beach. Myself my wife and my 3 children aged 2/7/10 booked 2 garden view rooms and requested that these be adjoining rooms. On our arrival we were informed that we had been upgraded for free to the preferred club and was in the honeymoon room. Unfortunately we had to turn this down due to no adjoining room. The staff seemed genuinely disappointed that they couldn't give us the best room but then placed us in a ocean facing rooms with jacuzzi on the balcony. Big smiles all round so far! During our stay we went to both the beach and the 3 pools. The beach was just amazing, the water was clear and blue unless it was choppy but this is only natural as the sand gets pushed up. The sea weed as described in other reviews is actually sea grass and is Small blades of grass scattered around. This wasn't a problem for my family and we loved the beach. The staff from the beach bar are simple fantastic and hard working. A drink is given to you at you sun lounger about every 15 mins which is more that enough for any person. The sand is white and clean and the choice of sun beds is plenty. The pool area is great too. The 3 pools range from the activities pool with volleyball and a couple of basketball hoops a child's pool and a infinity pool with swim up bar. Around the pool is a pizza bar, a grill and also another drinks bar. These are all great. The swim up bar is good but does get busy with some people who are unable to cope with all inclusive drinks. Life guards are on hand and to be honest are quite strict (A good thing).
The restaurants are great. The world cafe is good for breakfast but not good for dinner. This isn't a problem as the other restaurants at the resort are very good. All the staff are very helpful and don't expect any tips. I would suggest that manors go a long way at this resort and a simple please and thank you work wonders. I was lucky enough to get married here which was at the end of my 2nd week. ELISA in the weddings team worked tirelessly to make sure it was everything we wanted its just a shame that our uk based weddings team at virgin were complete crap and that ELISA had to rectify there errors. The day was out of this world with us having a meal on the beach as the sun went down. One of my daughters had a ear infection in the 1st week. The doctor was great and provided all the relevant care instantly. Great service.
The rooms are very nice and the cleanliness of the whole resort is second to none.
The entertainment at night are fun and enjoyable
My 2 girls went to the kids club whenever they wanted and loved it. You get given a buzzer when your children want picking up or if there are any problems.
I would recommend this resort to everyone. You will not be disappointed and will feel looked after and valued as a guest here.
"Best Vacation Ever!"
Beautiful, super clean (someone was always cleaning inside and out), awesome staff, great diversity of restaurants with the best food we have ever had on our 12 trips to Cancun/ Riviera Maya, comfortable rooms, great towels for beach and pool. The next trip cant come soon enough!
"It was a Dreams come true."
My husband and I with two friends stayed from December 7th to the 14th. This is our second all-inclusive and although it was more expensive it was worth it. I first want to give huge commendation to specific members of the staff. First, Marlene our maid was awesome, was never in need of anything and she was so pleasant to talk to and always smiling. Armando at the front desk, answered all our questions and made our check-in stress free. This was especially appreciated because we came in about 8 p.m. and were pretty tired. Christian and Rick at the concierge desk were very helpful and pleasant. Last but not least, Willy (waiter on the beach) He was always smiling and had a great sense of humor. Also quick with the service. Now this does not mean that we did not appreciate you all because we did. All the staff were always doing something, no slackers here. On to the room, It was beautiful, just what the website showed. I'm not into modern but this room was tastefully done. Now the bed, can we say butta. My husband would love to know what kind of bed it was. He would love to get one. We also had a balcony facing the adult pool on 4th floor. Awesome to drink our coffee in the morning and talk about what we were going to do for the day. Everything worked well. Shower was nice, beautiful tile. The only thing that was a bummer was that there were kids right above us that were up at 6:30 a.m. But it is a family resort. One of the things that we really loved was that the resort does not have bracelets, a towel card and reservations for the al a carte restaurants. Cannot believe how relaxing that is not to have to wait in line in the morning to eat at night. It just cuts into the vacation. Granted this is a gated all-inclusive so they know who belongs there and who doesn't. But now that we've been spoiled by this I don't want to go to a resort that has these type of restrictions. The beach and water are wonderful, we saw some cool stuff while snorkeling, a lion fish, a baby stingray and some cool looking squid amongst other colorful fish. Did not have any trouble what so ever getting a lounger. We didn't do any of the dolphin stuff but we were able to watch other people and that was really enjoyable. The food was good at the buffet. Yes, there is some of the same stuff every day but they mixed it up. Go see Ana at the omelet station and she'll fix you up good. Now the al a carte restaurants were fabulous. Portofino's, super good mushroom soup and filet mignon. Everything we ate there was delish. Went to Oceana, very good also. Gohan's, Japanese food, tasted fresh and the presentation of all the food was amazing. I think I took more pictures of the food than anything else. Seaside grill, had the flank steak, it was like butter and the flavor was outstanding. So impressed with the food(can you tell). Went to El Patio for dessert and coffee, which was superb. Also the decorating of these restaurants were very tasteful and classy. Don't forget to stop in CoCo caf with free internet and enjoy an awesome espresso or whatever you may fancy. Yummy. The entertainment that we saw, the juggler and the show with a little acrobat and balancing acts were ok. The rock show on the other hand was very good. Played super good 80's rock but unfortunately they played 3 songs and they had to stop due to the torrential downpour. All in all watching the entertainment team interact with children and adults alike was very respectful, never pushed you to do anything but just let you know what was happening that day. In conclusion, we would definitely come here again and also recommend it to others. Thank you so much for a memorable vacation.
"Our Amazing Wedding"
At Puerto Aventuras 2013 w/ Jacki Muir My wife and I recently got married at the Puerto Aventuras Resort & Spa in Riviera Maya, Mexico. We had Jacki Muir as our wedding coordinator, and we couldn't have been happier. We had 40 people attend our wedding in Mexico, and Jacki took excellent care of us. The resort itself is beautiful; we got engaged there in 2011 and returned to get married there in 2013. Upon deciding to have our wedding in Mexico, we were given the name of Jacki Muir. She was amazing; she communicated with us throughout the entire process, made the wedding beautiful, kept us at ease, and took care of anything and everything we requested (which was a lot). She truly cared about us and put our needs at the forefront. If anyone is considering visiting this resort, or getting married here, you will not be disappointed. The beach is beautiful, the food was great, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I just can't say enough about Jacki. Our wedding went flawlessly!! Lastly, the rooms were great, and the housekeeping was good as well. Jacki and the Puerto Aventuras Resort and Spa deserve our highest recommendations!
"Fantastic Resort"
Let me first stay. You know how there are some people who like to go to a new place in mexico each year, well i was one like that until I came here. Once I realized that it doesn't get any better than Riviera Cancun then I'll just keep going back!
I have been there 2x now with my wife and love it there. Here is why:
SERVICE: The service is great in all aspects. We got preferred club both times. the second time they upgraded us to preferred and were kind to give us the free upgrade without us even asking for it. This allowed us to have an oceanfront view and what a view it is. Whether it's eating, drinking, socializing, the service is fantastic and everyone goes out of their way to make sure your stay is the best it can be.
FOOD: The food at dreams is always awesome and 5 star. I am a food lover and one of the best things about all inclusive is eat eat eat all you want. There are so many good restaurants in the resort, no reservations required. as well as buffet for each of the brekky, lunch, and dinner. I love the food there.
LOCATION: In my opinion there is nothing beter than having an infinity pool that overlooks the water. The pools are all beachside and in one place. So convienient. Not to mention its like a minute walk to your room . You are also only about 10 minutes from the airport so it is so easy and quick to get here. Love the location of this resort as well as the layout.
ROOMS: The rooms are UNBELIEVABLE . So big, and so modern. Loved it. Jacuzzi tub inside, jacuzzi tub outside, big comfy bed, and they keep the rooms immaculate. HUGE shower also which is awesome. You obviously aren't in the room much but when you are its so comfortable.
ENTERTAINMENT: The resort does a great job keeping you entertained during your stay. I like to be lazy during the day and not move much but there are always things going on. After dinner there is always great nightly entertainment.
All in all this resort is great. If you have any more questions about it feel free to message me and I will answer any. I know how hard it can be to read reviews due to people griping about such small issues. Definitely recommend staying here.

"Fantastic Place to Travel with Kiddos"
We went to this resort with our 9 and 5 year old boys. We typically stay at the other resorts when we don't have our kiddos with because they are adults only. This was our first time at a Cancun resort and we were very impressed. I heard a few people complaining about there being too many kids, which I thought was kinda funny. If you go to a family resort you should expect there to be lots of kids. If you don't want to be around kids on your vacation, go to an adults only.
The road leading to the hotel was bumpy, but not terrible, they had crews working on them to try and repair the bad spots. We did get to see a crocodile on our way in, so that made it worth it. Watch very closely, they are hard to see because they blend in. This was the highlight of the trip for the boys, even our transportation driver was excited to see it.
Food: Our favorite resturant was El Patio, this is a mexican resturant but the steak here is excellent. The boys loved eating hot dogs and hamburgers at the barefoot grill and they thought the french fries were even better than McDonalds. The breakfast buffet gets a little congested in the morning, so we typically ordered room service for breakfast. It was fabulous. We ate at Oceana, SeaSalt, Portofino and the Hibachi and they were all very good. The food was very good. Only suggestion would be to add Ice Cream to the room service menu.
Kids Club- This was a great option, they had fun activities going on all day. The employees are very nice and work good with the kids. The boys would typically go for the Video Game hour and the rock climbing. I loved that there were lots of activities for the kids. The boys loves playing soccer on the beach, there were soccer nets set up and always a group of people playing.
We felt very safe here, the grounds were immaculant and the resort is gorgeous. They have the same lotions/soaps as other resorts, I was happy to see that. The gym is smaller, but very nice and clean and adequate equipment. I would have liked to do Yoga, but there were no classes during our stay. They have a beautiful yoga room, but typically just spinning classes goign on.
The Beach is gorgeous, really soft white sand. There were not many seashells which made the sand even softer. It seemed to be calmer her than in Cancun because the reef must stop the waves a little bit. The beach bar is very cool with swings.
The pools were nice and warm and we loved that there were different depths especially for the kids. The jacuzzi was hot and very relaxing. The spa is gorgeous, try the Hydrotheropy if you can, it was very relaxing.
A special thank you to Daniel by the pool for making the best Bushwacker's for my husband. Also to Carlos in room service and Monica in the preferred area. The entire staff as fabulous.
There is a DVD player in the room and they have movies you can rent for free at the front desk. We used this a lot.
We loved the lobby area. It was beautifully decorated for the Holidays and it was a very nice place to hang out before dinner. The bar is excellent and we liked the open space and comfy ares to sit.
We would definately go back again when we bring our kids with, it is a beautiful resort.
"HoneyMoon Time"
Excellent Hotel! Great service, really neat and clean, great food and drinks. The beach is nice and the service at the beach is also great! Entertainment was good, we enjoyed a short bike tour to Puerto Morelos (2 kms away, 40 mins walk through the beach). The hotel is new (4 years old I think) and we strongly recommend it!
"Amazing hotel, staff, food, holiday Loved it!"
We have just returned from an absolutely amazing 14 night holiday at the Riviera Cancun and we loved it.
I know holidays are personal and everyone has different wants and expectations but having travelled extensively across the world and having stayed at some fabulous (and not so fabulous) resorts, I have to say that this was definitely in the top few. It certainly reached and went beyond our expectations not least because of all of the staff who genuinely couldnt do enough for you and before you ask, we didnt tip at all in the first week but did so in the second. I can honestly say that we encountered no difference in service between the first and second week.
The Hotel
Firstly, dont be put off by the comments on the road that leads you to the hotel. After all, it is only a road which leads you there. Admittedly the road was worse upon arrival because of the rain and flood damage which had basically washed the road away. It was very bumpy and vehicles were having to travel at around only 5mph. However, on our return journey it was markedly different. It was no longer covered in water and attempts were being made to patch it back up again (remember, this is Mexico!). The road is not the hotels fault as it leads to many different hotels.. it was 10/15 minutes additional journey time at tops!
As for any comments on the gate its a secure resort and it hardly makes for a bad holiday. Seriously!!
The hotel itself is lovely. We were met by very friendly bellboys who eagerly took our luggage and then we were handed a glass of champagne as we checked in.
The lobby area is large with a central water feature, there is also a bar (Rendezvous) and outside seating. The lobby area is the focal point for the entertainment with nightly shows on the steps/terrace area outside and a band each night inside. The lobby looks down a palm tree avenue straight onto the beach/sea.
To each side of the lobby are the 2 blocks of rooms. The layout is generally symmetrical and both sides have a large outdoor Jacuzzi area which doesnt allow children and is open until late.
Alongside the palm trees, there is a coffee shop, some shops and the Privilege area. This avenue leads down to the pool area which has three pools.
There are 2 beachside restaurants, a pool restaurant, a private dining area and a pool bar. Directly in front of the hotel is a lovely white sandy beach with a beach bar. The beach isnt private which isnt a problem because it means you can easily walk up and down to it (including all the way to Puerto Morelos not that far!). The beach is however patrolled. Theres also a beach bar.
Its actually a relatively small resort which we liked, it was easily accessible and you didnt have to walk for miles to get anywhere. As a result, it also felt more personal. We went a few days before the American Thanksgiving holiday and it was very quiet. It did get very busy during Thanksgiving and I think some people struggled with sunbeds by the pool and waiting for restaurants. After the Thanksgiving holiday, it quietened down again and to be honest, it was great.
The Room
We stayed in block 2 on the 5th floor and overlooked the area to the side of the hotel. There are rooms that overlook the beautifully manicured gardens some of which have a plunge pool and some have Jacuzzis on the balcony we wouldnt personally have used either. For those on the higher floors, there are several lifts (but you may want to walk the stairs after staying here for a few days!!!)
We had specifically asked for afternoon sun so our room was perfect even though we actually didnt get to sit out on the balcony preferring to go to one of the bars instead. The balcony had views over the beach and sea.
The room itself was very nice and quite large. The superking size bed took pride of place in the room and it was extremely comfortable. The mini bar was stocked with beer, water and soft drinks on a daily basis. There was also a coffee machine with coffee. There were 2 sinks/mirrors, a Jacuzzi bath, shower & WC to the rear of the bed. Both the shower & WC had doors and frosted glass. The bathroom was well stocked with a hairdryer and toiletries. The room had a fan and AC. The room was turned down each night.
We also received a daily newsletter detailing the weather, which restaurants were open, drink of the day, activity schedule for the following day. We found this very informative especially if you are planning your evening food (and if the men have to wear long trousers).
The Food & Bars
We ate in all the restaurants and found them all to be very good.
World Caf breakfast; a fantastic selection for breakfast. Plenty of fruit, breads, pancakes, waffles, pastries, cereals, hot and cold choices. I loved the fact that it was make your own muesli so I didnt have to have any raisins!! ;-)
World Caf lunch; again, there was a great variety of food for lunch including different types of salads, breads, meats (hot and cold), fish, paellas, local food and desserts (although were not sweet toothed people so we didnt have any).
World Caf dinner; we only ate in here in the evening once as, although there was a great selection of tasty food, we preferred the restaurants as it felt like eating in a canteen.
Barefoot Grill lunch; we didnt eat here at lunch because we preferred to eat salad at lunch and this grill was more fast food orientated burgers/sliders, hotdogs, pizza, limited salad, paella and some grilled meat. In addition, by the time we ate at 2pm, the choice was limited as this was the place where families seemed to eat.
Seaside Grill (steaks/grills) lunch and dinner; we ate dinner in here 3 times. The mushroom soup and the chateaubriand were to die for. This was our favourite restaurant
Oceana (seafood) dinner; we also loved the Oceana and ate here twice. The only thing with the Oceana and Seaside Grill is that they tend to use a lot of salt so, if youre like us just ask them not to add any additional salt to the dishes. After this, we were fine.
Bordeaux (French) we ate in here twice but actually felt it was over-rated. We felt that the steaks and the atmosphere in the Seaside Grill were better.
El Patio (Mexican) this was the least favourite of all the restaurants. The food was good but nothing special.
Portofino (Italian) we also loved the Italian restaurant and went here a few times. We had the steak and chicken which were both lovely.
Himitsu (Asian) we booked in (at 5pm in advance) for the hibachi grill and although the food was lovely, weve been to these a few times before so it wasnt new to us. If you havent been to one, I would recommend it. We also ate off the a la carte menu (Thai, Japanese, eastern style cuisine) and really enjoyed it but again, we preferred the other restaurants although it was nice to eat something different.
Caf Coco (coffee shop) the coffee shop is open all day for coffees, iced drinks, frappes, pastries and sandwiches at lunchtime. They also serve pretzels. The coffee in here is obviously better than in the restaurants so we ended up grabbing a coffee from here after breakfast.
Barrcuda this beach bar (or swing bar as we called it because of its rope swings around the bar) is open most of the day for drinks. The staff, especially Antonio and Jose are brilliant and so friendly. We seemed to end up here after the sun went down each evening. I would definitely recommend the Singapore Sling cocktail!!
Rendezvous this is the main lobby bar and has waitress/waiter service if you want it. Its a relaxing environment where you can listen to the daily entertainment.
The restaurants all have a dress standard. My other half was concerned about wearing long trousers in the heat but there is no issue as all the restaurants have decent AC. It is frustrating that some require long trousers especially when long trousers can mean jeans (and even ripped ones). My other half looked smarter than most in his tailored shorts than those wearing jeans. Still, I suppose having a rule makes it easier to maintain the standard.
On certain days during the week, the hospitality team make coco loco's (drinks out of coconuts). The chefs also come round in the afternoon with small tasting plates.
Pools & Beach
There are 3 pools; an infinity pool with a swim up bar, a smaller and shallower kids pool and then the main pool which is generally used by the entertainment team at certain times. There are some floating beds available from the entertainment centre for the pool bar.
People do tend to reserve sunbeds but to be fair, the pool attendants do take towels away from beds that look unoccupied. I guess this is all the hotel can do, after all they cant be blamed for the selfish and inconsiderate behaviour of some guests. We were by the pool for around 8am and never had an issue with getting a lounger even when it was busy at Thanksgiving.
There are plenty of beds (& parasols) by the pool and on the beach. There is a beach volleyball area, beach football area and boules and horse shoe pitching (you have to try this is!).
There is drinks service by the pool and on the beach. The bars open up at around 10am but the pool service team come around with bottles of water much earlier than 10am.
The Gym & Spa
My other half used the gym every single day. It was perfectly adequate for 2 weeks and, unlike many foreign gyms, the AC actually worked. There was a reasonable set of free weights, a variety of lifting machines and some cardio machines (treadmill, cross trainers, bikes). Theres also a separate studio which does have classes but it can also be used for ab exercises or yoga on a personal basis. The gym provided plenty of bottles of water and towels. It was open from 6am and at that time, my other half was usually in there with 2-3 others.
We didnt use the spa so cant provide any comments.
The Entertainment
We didnt really do the entertainment either in the day or at night but what we did come across seemed to be really great. The entertainment really do work hard and they were absolutely fantastic with the kids. We liked the fact that they didnt hassle you to join in unlike other places. If people want to play volleyball, they will! The evening shows also seemed to be very impressive and were all very different ranging from fire shows to illusionists to breakdancing and the bands/singers in the lobby area late in the evening were also worth listening to.
The Staff
Not once did we come across any staff who werent focussed on good customer service. Everyone, from the grounds men, to the bar staff, to the gardeners, to the waiters, to the entertainment staff were very friendly and always said hello. Everyone seemed to be genuinely happy working there. As I mentioned before, we didnt tip in the first week but we did in the second. It wasnt expected and the service was no different. We still got the same smile, the same friendly chat and the same great customer service.
Weddings
Whilst we werent there for a wedding, we did see several taking place. To be honest its not my kind of thing as they take place in public places (either the beach or the gazebo on the pool terrace). This meant that other guests could sit and watch (the little girls loved watching them). To me therefore it didnt seem very intimate or personal but everyone is different. What I did observe though was the staff did absolutely everything to ensure that the wedding was perfect. They really cared about ensuring that the wedding party were happy and that it was as special as it could be.
Special Staff Mentions
We met some great staff but some are worthy of special mention
Antonio & Jose in the beach bar. They make the most fabulous Singapore Sling definitely recommended. They were always friendly and pleasant and always remembered what we were drinking.
Alfredo on beach/terrace drinks service. He was lovely; extremely attentive; very friendly and chatty and again provided the most excellent customer service.
Judith & Abigail in the Rendezvous (Judith also works in Coco Caf). Again, excellent customer service and very very friendly.
Magdalena in the World Caf who, after only 3 days of being there remembered our surname each and every time we went in there. She too was lovely and very friendly.
All in all, we loved our time at this hotel so much that this is one of the first 14 day holidays where we could have stayed longer. We are usually ready to come home after 10 days. not here!
Our only difficulty now is trying to work out how we can beat this holiday next year!
"Amazing Staff, Amazing Resort, Amazing Everything!"
As always, I do my reviews by categories with detailed descriptions for you to skip to the part you care about most so everything is not all mixed together. I know it may look like a lot, but again, skip to where you want to read.
Ive been on plenty of vacations and stayed at plenty of resorts, but none have given me the true wow factor like Riviera Cancun did. My brother had his destination wedding here so there was a group of about 25 of us.
Staff: I dont even know where to begin on how amazing and hard-working the staff is here. This was a main part of what made our vacation special. GENERAL MANAGER, please take note of these individuals!
-Orlando and Armando in the Oceana/Seaside Grill restaurant. They went above and beyond and made our lunch experience special each and every day, by even making us special dishes not even on the main menu. Even went we didnt get a chance to stop there for lunch, they brought our signature drinks (electric lemonade) to the pool! You are a FANTASTIC as a team.
- Grandpa Carlos from the pool wait staff was excellent (his area was near Seaside Grill, by the ping pong tables). He was on top of everything and we specifically sat in that area so we could have him (although his shift starts at noon).
-Alfredo at El Patio restaurant- he was a riot and made the dinner experience so much fun.
-Gregorio, the manager at Bordeaux (French restaurant). He went above and beyond to make sure we had an excellent experience after a tiny mishap.
-Vinny from the entertainment team. Very personable, very nice, and always engaged our group in the activities. He was a ton of fun! I believe he went back to school now though.
Starting from the beginning:
Check-In: As soon as we arrived, it was raining. They guided us to the preferred lounge to check in, with umbrellas in hand for us. We were given champagne and everything went smoothly.
Room: We had a club level room. We didn't get to use the Jacuzzi on the balcony, but hopefully next time! The club lounge was definitely a nice touch for a quick breakfast if we didn't want to visit the buffet. Our room was spotless, had robes, slippers, stocked mini-fridge, snacks, everything.
Pool: Always clean, always fun, staff was always around. At 2:10pm, staff/chefs would come out in their chef hats and hand out food and drink samples. How awesome is that?! The entertainment team was there all day too. Water aerobics, bingo, salsa lessons, volleyball, etc.
Food: No one in our group had a bad meal anywhere. Everything was consistently good. Even the picky eaters in our group were satisfied. The main restaurants in the evening (French, Italian, Mexican, Japanese) were all fantastic. The buffet was good too.
Gym: Had enough equipment to satisfy me for the week. The weight machines usually served as two different ones.
Resort/Property: Gorgeous. Flower bushes, clean, NO BUGS and everything was laid out perfectly. The resort is smaller which is fantastic. You dont feel like youve been walking really far and if you had to run back to the room for something, it was never a big deal.
Wedding: We were all accommodated, everyone had a blast, and they took care of the bride and groom. The wedding itself was beautiful and the staff hired for the reception bent over backwards to make sure everything went smooth. I was unfortunately sick during this day, so I didn't really have an appetite, but I heard the food was fantastic and the wedding cake was amazing.
All and all the vacation was perfect. If there was a little mishap, it was taken care of immediately or they went out of their way to fix it. This place is definitely worth your time.

"Amazing hotel, holiday and wedding !!"
This hotel is amazing and the perfect place for a wedding with very few guest or lots. Our wedding was very small however the staff never failed to amaze us whilst we're there. The hotel staff are always going that extra mile to make your holiday perfect. Our honeymoon suite was 5 star, just beautiful to wake us with a full view of the ocean. The VIP lounge was an added extra and Natalia was our favourite member of staff, she made us all feel very welcome, plus our little boy took a really shine to her.
Thanks for our perfect wedding, we would love to return and defiantly recommend this hotel to other!!!!!
"Wonderful Experience"
My family and I were here for 10 days beginning on Oct. 3, 2013. It was an incredible experience. The weather was great and the accomodations were outstanding. I want to make a special "shout out" to Edgar from the World Cafe. We had breakfast there every morning and Edgar knew exactly what we wanted and was always so willing to go the extra mile to make our breakfasts outstanding occasions. We especially loved his sense of humor and his ability to always make us laugh. But it was his attention to detail which made him stand out from the other waiters. He should be mentoring you less experienced wait staff. On the beach, we were lucky to have Manuel our waiter. He always made sure we had what we needed. Our room maid was Sonja and she did a great job of making our room very pleasant. Overall, I would say all of the restaurants were outstanding. We never had a bad meal. We're definitely going back for a family reunion to include more family members so they can experience this wonderful resort.
"This Resort Gets it Right"
Whether a Family with infants or teens, a Solo traveler, Couples, Friends or Foodies of any kind, Riviera Maya will impress. The grounds are lush. The staff are attentive, friendly and prompt. The Butlers are impeccable, Luka and Jorge in particular. Get the 1 Bedroom Sky Suit, you WILL be impressed. The Fixed beach is excellent if small. The pools are extensive. The food is a la carte and made well. I will happily recommend this place to my more discerning Clientele and Families!
