Grand Mexico Palace Puerto Penasco

Such a beautiful resort! Everyone was so professional, helpful and nice. We loved all the activities - pools, lazy river, fun activities provided by the joy squad, excursions provided by EcoFun. The restaurants were wonderful with great service provided by the waiters. We were at the resort for 2 weeks and only went into town twice. The resort has everything so you really never need to leave. We loved our time at the Grand Mayan.

We had a one bedroom suite with an ocean view, we have also stayed in a one bedroom suite overlooking the golf course. The one bedrooms are large. The rooms are very clean and house keeping is daily. The food in the restaurants is very good and plentiful. The resort is about 20 miles from puerto penasco. We drive from Tombstone Az . It is about 300 miles and takes us abut 5 hours. They have a lazy river and a swim up bar and 4 large hot tub pools. The grounds are well maintained. They are in the process of adding some Grand Luxxe rooms. All rooms have a patio with a small dipping pool 2 lounge chairs and a small table

We love going to Puerto Penasco. It is a relatively short drive (just under 4 hours) from Tucson. The roads are quite good. The staff is fabulous! The accomadations are very comfortable. Love the place.

I am posting this review here because there isn't a category for Grand Mayan Puerto Penasco at this time. The Grand Mayan is a work in progress. Presently one of the buildings is ready for occupancy. The lazy river, pools, swim up pool bar and the outdoor restaurant, Ola Mulata are open. The landscaping shrubs and trees are young and will take awhile to fill out. Registration is done at the Mayan Palace desk until one is completed at the Grand Mayan. A shuttle takes you to the GM. Parking, at this time, is at the Mayan Palace as roads haven't been paved yet. The rooms are the typical Grand Mayan layout and decor with neutral colors. There were 4 of us staying in a master suite and it was very nice. The balconies have the splash pool and lounge chairs. The beds seemed more comfortable than beds at other Grand Mayans. We are Grand Luxxe owners but we will definitely be going back to the Grand Mayan in Puerto Penasco. The staff, as usual, were very friendly, helpful and efficient. Our rooms were kept immaculate and we enjoyed the towel animals on our beds after turn down service. The food at the new Ola Mulata was delicious - their specialty is seafood. We ate all of our meals at the 3 restaurants on the property as we didn't want to do the long drive into town. The buffets were great and the prices are similar to U.S.restaurants. The shrimp tacos at Balche' are to die for. There weren't many people staying at the Grand Mayan or Mayan Palace while we were there and that was great for us as we never waited for anything. One draw back was the weather. It was cool and very windy so many of the activities were cancelled. Our guests used the golf course and said that it was one of the best courses they have ever golfed at. We were very pleased with the Grand Mayan and can't wait until it is finished. It is going to be a fantastic resort!

I love this resort and my husband and I have stayed here 3 times and look forward to returning again. It has spoiled me for pristine beaches and enjoy walking the endless shoreline. Our favorite meal is Mayan nachos on the beach at sunset with the required margarita of course. The spa is very nice, the condo spacious and well appointed and fun pool side activities.

My husband and I went to the Mayan Palace for a getaway from Phoenix. We were pleasantly surprised. We had a basic room which fit our needs. The resort isa half hour from Puerto Penasco. We drove in one day. The beach is lovely. The pool area nice. They had frequent happy hours and specials throughout the day which made drink prices extremely reasonable. The food was about US prices. We saw numerous activities for children each day we were there. It is a good choice for a family or anyone who wants to relax at the beach and pool. There is virtually zero nightlife at the resort which suited us fine. The staff was excellent and friendly.

If you want to enjoy you vacation and more importantly, your family and friends, this is the place. Championship golf course, miles and miles of unspoiled beach, various watercraft and activities for all.

Very nice accommodations and excellent service in all areas of resort. Next visit we will look into available meal plans . Perfect 5 day getaway from Tucson for a beach fix!. Golf and beach activities are a plus.

First time here ... it's quite a m Phoenix but a fun adventure with 'Head Out to Rocky Point'. Expansive beaches that are quite flat and clean... good walking. We are members and use a suite which helps lowers food costs even when purchasing from store at resort. The restaurant food is good, but you need to be wise to avoid paying more than you need to. One menu choices weren't very good .(food in room helps if you want to save and have more control over what you are eating)

Yes, it is 30 minutes from civilization, but it is paradise. the wife and I went to celebrate our anniversary and the beach was clean and all to ourselves. The Mayan Palace has a beautiful entrance that makes you feel like your going backing into time with the music and dark entrance towards reception. The checkin process was seamless and the follow up host to see if you want a tour for an upgrade or new membership was pain less. I said no, and the left me alone from then on. The food was excellent for the breakfast buffet. Great ambience with the Joy crew...

My wife and 9-year-old son and I stayed at the Mayan Palace during the last week of August. We had had a busy summer and just wanted to relax and hang out for a few days before school started again. Puerto Penasco was perfect for that. We drove from San Diego, through Arizona, crossing the border at Lukeville, Crossing the border was a piece of cake and the drive down through Mexico to the resort was quick and easy. We stayed in an ocean-view 1-bedroom condo in building #2. It was a clean, spacious, and comfortable unit with a well-equipped kitchenette. The sofas were large and provided plenty of space as a bed as well. We had brought a lot of our own food from home and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals. We ate in town one evening, and at the Golf Course restaurant on the property another night. Otherwise, we stayed on property, swimming in the pools, lazy river, and beach. The water in the pool was warm, and I think that was the largest lazy river we had ever experienced. My son and I spent a lot of time in it! There were a lot of organized activities available for guests, as well as a Kids Club that seemed to be very popular. I would recommend this property for families looking to relax and play.

The staff is very welcoming and very nice. The food from all restaurants is delicious. The pools are kept very clean and beautiful. There's plenty of space to relax and lounge. And of course the ocean.... so clean, water so warm. Everything is just beautiful.

The Public amenities are very well maintained. Pools, Lobby, Tennis Courts, and spa. The apartments are a little old and show some wear and tear. The service of Joy squad is amazing. The make sure that you have a great time every minute you are in the pools areas with plenty of activities. We celebrated our son's birthday this past june there and Jorge went above and beyond to make sure he had an unforgettable celebration. Bellboys service is also excellent.

I really enjoyed the way Jorge, Martin, Edwin and Mosiah from the Joy Squad treated us. They are amazing human beings and I loved their energy and enthusiasm. We played games, they taught how how to make ceviche, guacamole and mixology. Their aquaerobics classes were awesome! Thank you Joy Squad!

I have been coming to this Mayan Palace for the past 15 and every year my experience gets better and better. I never get bored of everything the hotel has to offer, like the pool, beach, and activities. It is truly the perfect place to spend time with friends and family and make lifetime memories. The rooms are always very impressive and so is the staff. One staff member in particular, named Ruben, was so fun, entertaining, and never failed to make a good time. I can't wait till I get to be back at this wonderful hotel.

The Grand Mayan resort is part of the Mayan Palace complex and is the most upscale part of this complex at this time. Our suite consisted of a Living Room/Dining Room, large kitchen with seating counter, two large bedrooms that each contained a separate couch and a beautiful large bathroom area with separate areas for bathing, shower, toilet, etc. The best part was the huge balcony that overlooked the ocean and the Grand Mayan grounds. It even had a small pool in it, as well as lounge chairs and small tables. The beach is one of the most beautiful in Mexico. It is very long (several miles) and flat and white and goes all the way out to an inlet for a tidal area. You can walk for miles without seeing hardly anyone and still being flat and easy to walk It is totally clean. We have been there 6 times and it has been the same each time. The pool at the Grand Mayan is large, with many special areas, an in-pool bar, and a number of hot spas with seating areas on the south side of the pool. The Lazy Susan "River" is great fun and goes around the outside of the pool and spas. You sit in a large tire type float and just glide along. This is a very dry desert area so the outstanding landscaping is all desert vegetation, typical of the area. All of the other Mayan Palace complexes are further south and have tropical vegetation. This one has fewer restaurants (about 4 or 5) than the others, and the walkways are concrete rather than boardwalks as in the others. However, it totally fits the desert and sand environment. There is a separate Gym/Spa building with a large indoor pool, large weight room with all kinds of equipment, stretching classes, etc., and a full spa with saunas. We live just across the border in Arizona and so we go often to this complex. We have never seen a red tide or any other kind of problem with the beautiful very wide flat white beaches. They are always keep totally immaculate. The resort is 24 kms from "Rocky Point" so it totally safe, gated, and well patrolled by a large security staff. The only houses nearby are high end beach front homes owned by Americans and Canadians.
