I have stayed at this beach front hotel twice & was pleasantly surprised both times. The front desk staff was efficient, the room was clean & sufficiently equipped, and you can't beat the location, especially if you can get a somewhat discounted rate.
"Another Good Experience"
I vacation every year in St. Pete Beach. I stay at only one hotel: Howard Johnson's. It is clean, the staff friendly (and that includes the cleaning crew), and the restaurant attached has good food for a good price. Also, the hotel is near restaurants, stores, and is a good base of operations for sightseeing. Major highways are close by to take you to points North and South. The pool and the pool area are clean. The beach in front of the hotel is also clean. It is a very good hotel for the price. I will admit that it is not perfect. Some of the paint is chipped and some guests have complained that the music from the pool area is annoying. I stayed in a room that overlooked the Gulf of Mexico, closest to the music, and the music did not bother me. All in all, I plan to return next year.

Rooms were impeccably clean, parking was a breeze, and beds were absolutely wonderful. In the blur of my family vacation, I was actually able to enjoy a pleasant night's sleep. Make sure you book immediately!!
"Ideal vacation"
The suite was exactly what our family needed for the weekend. This place has everything we could imagine for a beach getaway. There's a delicious restaurant, beautiful heated pool with a bar/grill nearby. A short path from the volleyball nets down to the beach made this place picture perfect. Our view of the Gulf from our balcony was painting worthy. Customer service couldn't be better, the entire staff is very friendly. We will absolutely be back.

Awesome stay. The staff is wonderful, the room is clean, its near to everything and half the rate of the near by hotels. This was my second stay, and I definitely will be back!

We stayed there in 2015, in a gulf view room 3rd floor.Beautiful, and clean. Dec 2016 we stayed in a std 2-queen room, and were nicely surprised of still getting a great clean room. I'm so glad we came back. Prices were very affordable for any budget
"Great Location for the Money"
This Howard Johnsons is right on the beach on Gulf Blvd however, it is an older hotel. The hotel is kept very clean though. We stayed at this location because it was right on the beach and was very reasonably priced! The pool area was very clean and the pool was wonderful! They do not have a hot tub. Our room was very quiet. We definitely enjoyed our stay!
"Quick trip"
Came down with my wife for some badly needed R&R week before Thanksgiving. Overall a very nice property, nice "tropical" pool area,friendly staff, good restaurant and beach bar on location. Our only complaint was the mattress in the room we had was horible. Kept rolling to the middle. Asked front desk about it, said they would have maintenance check it out. They either never came by, or were'nt concerned about it. Rooms are really in need of an update. At least a new mattress. All in all, still had a nice stay.
"Pleasant beach-side stay"
I'd never stayed at a HoJo's and wasn't sure what to expect (free ice cream at check in, maybe?) I didn't get THAT, but I was entertained by the clerk, who was a Jersey gal with a good sense of humor. My room was clean and although it had a lanai/porch area, it was on the first floor and faced the parking lot, not the beach. (I'd definitely have specified that I wanted beach view and elevation, if I'd thought of it.) Other than that, no complaints! I had a great, reasonably priced breakfast at their restaurant on Sunday morning...casual place with pleasant and attentive staff. It is a bit tough seeing which parking lot one pulls into upon arrival, as the signage is tough to interpret at night-time.

You can't beat this place for a great value! The staff is friendly and helpful. Joanne was especially personable and helpful. They even took my cell # and said they would call us when the Toys for Tots bike run was to come by the hotel so we could stay on the beach while waiting. Great property located on the very best part of St. Pete Beach. I'm a local and this is our favorite hotel experience time and time again!!!

Great Location on beach, Toasted Monkey Tiki Bar is really a plus, great drinks and food. Clean, Comfortable beds and pillows. Great Value!
"Post Thanksgiving 2 Night Stay"
Room was a little dated, but very comfortable and my favorite location on the beach. The Toasted Monkey beach side is great and the diner on the road side was good and well priced. Overall a very pleasant and economical stay.

i stayed here for thanksgiving holidays and had a super great time here at this hotel. the staff was outstanding! very kind, caring and helpful! joanne, emily, and the rest of the front desk were so kind and helpful to me. the housekeepers and maintenance staff were also wonderful and caring too! they all went out of their way to help me. the hotel and grounds were so clean and well maintained! the swim pool was great! nice, clean and heated . loved that it was open 24hrs. so i could swim my morning laps at sunrise. so much fun! my room was perfect! very clean, everything working well, very comfortable and secure! it looked brand new! so sparkly clean! i am looking forward for my next stay at this hotel soon!

The Howard Johnson Resort is a very nice place to stay at a reasonable price. It could use a little updating but other than that, it was a great place. Friendly staff that was helpful too. Added bonus of the restaurants and bar on the beach with live music was awesome!

Great location. Very clean and fun outdoor area with pool and tiki bar right on the ocean. Rooms could have been cleaner and updated.
"Gulf Coast Backyard"
Although this is a small hotel in comparison to it neighbors it still was a very quaint lodging. It is a little further away from the Gulf than I had hoped for, however it has a pleasant atmosphere. Sadly there was no free breakfast and our two night stay was uneventful except the chair in the room needs to be replaced. I sat in it once and thought it was about to collapse underneath me. Was going to let the hotel know but then I left without doing so. This was a romantic little getaway and we would definitely return if it works within our plans.

It is a great value on the beach Convenient to all the beach bars and restaurants. The only issue I had was the smoke detector continuing to beep not only in my room but several rooms down the hall. They promptly fixed mine but needed to fix them all.
