"A large hotel in well maintained grounds"
We stayed here, along with another couple, as part of an independent tour of New England in the Fall......arranged by Trailfinders. I was concerned at first to find that our room was on the same side of the building as the water park and pool - particularly as we had come for the peace and quiet of new England! However, as we arrived on a Sunday late afternoon the water park appeared deserted and there was no problem at all with noise. This is a family hotel though and one of the other guests told us that it had been very noisy over the weekend.
Our room was great - two large beds and our own front door and a porch to sit out....all very clean. What made it special for us though was the breakfast staff. For the price the breakfasts were excellent with lots of choice, including fresh omelettes, and the view out over the hills was stunning. The staff were fantastic and really couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed out meals. They were so NICE!
I guess that in the height of the season or on weekends and holidays this may not be the best place to go for peace and quiet, but we were lucky and enjoyed our visit very much.
"Well maintained and monitored"
Boys had a great time! We didn't stay in the hotel. We just paid the $40 per child rate on a day trip. I didn't pay the full park entrance rate but instead got a spectator rate for $10. I was still able to sit in the hot tub while keeping an eye on the kids. Not a bad deal. I was pretty impressed with how clean the place was and how well the staff worked relentlessly walking up and down each section of the park to make sure the children were safe in the water. No complaints here.
"Weekend wonder"
A weekend trip for foliage and family fun that did not disappoint in anyway shape or form. The hotel is an older building that has been updated over the years. Very comfortable and kept very clean. Going away you always wonder about eating out options. We found the hotel to have incredible and delicious food. We ate breakfasts and dinners at the hotel. The breakfast were so delicious, a full buffet and omelets and waffle station. The hostess and wait staff (Wendy) was incredible. The dinners were delicious and were sooooo good. The room we booked was the family loft garden view. Two double beds on the main floor and two twins in the loft. Clean and plenty of room to stretch out. All the staff were friendly, helpful and not that fake friendly helpful way. The most enjoyed part of the hotel was the indoor water park. Both nights we spent two plus hours running around getting soaked and riding the water slides. The staff was great and the entire area was clean. I spoke with one of the staffers there that was taking water samples, he told me they check the water on a rotation and take samples from all the pools and play areas. If any go above the recommended levels that close that section down and clean it. That made me and the wife so happy, This was an amazing weekend away. The one thing that happened that was unexpected was the fire alarm going off at 10pm. I called the front desk and the person that answered was calm and professional and requested we make our way to the water park area. We were directed by three staff members that kept saying "This way please" and were telling people honestly that they didn't know the cause but would rather be safe. At the meeting area the staff was friendly and honest again telling people the same honest information. I was so impressed with this response. People don't realize how most places don't handle these thing well. All was fine and informed us that it was someone that pulled a pull station. The staff, hotel and water park were so much more than expected. Thank you Red Jacket, a perfect family weekend away.
"Better than first impressions!"
When we arrived, I thought we had come to a three star holiday camp!! However, once inside it got much better. The bedrooms were nice [not brilliant]. The food was really good - breakfast good and the set three course evening meal was very edible and good VFM. My only real whinge was that the bar staff seemed to double up was waiters and you had a very long wait to get a drink.
"Always a pleasure to stay here!"
We've stayed here several times over the years - and have also stayed at other hotels in the area. First I should say - if you've never been to North Conway it's a great place to visit. Are the rooms at the Red Jacket the reason you come here? The answer is no - they are not the newest or most updated (though they are clean!) - but you are not coming to NH for a fancy room are you? Though they are dated they mostly offer great views of the mountains or the town/woods. Some have a loft space for the kids - or a little extra side room. Some have balconies with great views. They are what I would all "New Hampshire charming" - a little but on the older/dated side - but let's call them quaint with nice views - and they have everything you will need for your trip! This property is VERY family friendly. The outdoor pool is pleasant (I always wished there was an outdoor restaurant here), the playground is nice, the evening firepit/s'mores is nice touch. They have horse/carriage rides (which I'm not personally a fan of but if you like that....). The restaurants are good - the main restaurant that serves breakfast/dinner buffet is a family favorite. Our kid always ask to have dinner there - the view is fantastic and the food is good (not great) but solidly good and reliable and perfect after a long day. The service here is good. I have to comment on a woman at the front desk at our most recent stay - I wish I had gotten her name - she was so friendly and helpful - when we were looking for coffee after it was gone she went upstairs to the restaurant and brought it to us in the lobby which she didn't need to do but was GREATLY appreciated in the moment - small things like that are what add up to make for excellent customer service. We started coming when my kids were young - they are older now and always ask to return here. The indoor water park is a great option - it is not so big and overwhelming that it is high maintenance but it is big enough for lots of fun! I've been to several large water parks where you just can't keep track of everyone - but this one is large but manageable - worth it if you are staying here even for an evening. Ask at the front desk for best rates if you are a hotel guest. My kids love the arcade, too. There are lots of options for hotels in the North Conway area - but there is something about the Red Jacket Resort that our family feels makes it the most special. We are always happy to see that big lawn leading up to the property when we arrive - it's a great place to stay no matter what you are doing in North Conway. Nice job - thanks!
"Even in the off-season, it's a nice place to stay. Incredible entertainment for kids."
We were lucky to have a room on the entry floor (second floor) and relatively close to the lobby and restaurants. Others felt they had to walk a mile to their rooms.
The room had the coffee pod type coffee maker. I prefer one with a pot, because I carry my own cappuccino dry mix. I am sure, because of hygienic standards, hotels will probably all go to the pods and paper cups.
The bathroom sink was separate from the tub/commode area. No nightlight in the bathroom proper, so I used a nightlight I brought from home.
The breakfast buffet was fantastic. They had a gentleman making omelets to order. He could control three pans at a time. They had anything you could want for breakfast.
Property beautiful, but we were having bad weather, so we didn't get to explore.
They have an adjoining water park and a huge game room for kids.
"So many amenities"
It's the perfect hotel for families. Everything you need is right there in the hotel. The water park is so much fun & it was the kids favorite part of the trip. The restaurant was delicious, especially the breakfast buffet. We enjoyed the bar & live entertainment. The views are to die for. And every day there are planned activities for the kids. We did a wii championship, ceramic painting, cookie decorating, s'mores by the fire pit, a horse drawn carriage ride....
We usually vacation here 1-2 times a year & we're definitely going to return.
"Wonderful service"
Beautiful hotel position, best view in town! Very warm welcome. Hot apple cider with cookies or cake. Best, fastest services we ever had around the world! anything you ask for, like magic, waiting for you within seconds, not minutes! Asked for extra blanket, before my husband opened the room door, someone already following him with a blanket in hand! Big room, chairs to sit on outside to see sun rise. Good food to Our!
"Lovely hotel"
This hotel is lovely, the breakfast was very good with an omelette station where fresh omelettes were made to your choice. The room was a good size with a really comfy bed. The Muddy Moose pub/ restaurant was just a short walk down the hill serving great food.
"Would stay again"
Took a last minute trip to north Conway. Booked RJMV wanting to try the water park. Great decision, the water park was well worth it. We'd absolutely visit again. The resort is sort of a family friendly version of the MT Washington Omni. You may not have the visual sizzle as you drive up or $15 drinks on the amazing veranda but you can feed your family without reservations made months in advance, the pool is clean and you are close to everything. Our room was very clean and reasonably updated...though it was a loft style room and the AC upstairs was weak at best. My son still thought the loft was "cool" though. Breakfast buffet was a bargain with great selection. All in all, a solid choice.
"Super fun for adults and kids"
We visited the Red Jacket 8/19-8/21/15 and had a most enjoyable time. This was our second visit to the RJMV resort. Our first visit was this past March when we spent two days enjoying the indoor water park. We told ourselves we needed to come back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor pool.
We were lucky that our two day stay had great weather, warm and in the mid-80's. Our first night there we enjoyed a great BBQ dinner out at Moat Mountain brewery just a few miles north from the Inn. Came back and spent a couple of hours in the outdoor pool. It was all lit up for night time swimming and had soft kettle drum music playing. It felt like we were nowhere near northern NH. From 8-9 they offered a campfire on the grounds and toasted marshmallows and lemonade for the kids. Our daughter loved hopping out of the pool, toasting some marshmallows, and then back to swimming and playing in the warm, lit up pool. The outdoor pool is a salt/chlorine mix. It was so nice to swim in, although, I personally would have liked the pool to be slightly cooler as it was a warm day. But my husband and daughter told me I was crazy and that the warm pool was perfect for them.
Our room was average. It is clean enough for me, and the beds were comfortable. Yes there is little water pressure but it was at least warm. The fridge in the room is great and I liked having the sink outside of the toilet/shower room. We loved our little outdoor porch too. Great place to hang our wet bathing suits and enjoy a beer while watching some bunnies hop around in the flowers. Next time I will be sure to get a room on the top floor though, it's a very family friendly hotel, so you will definitely hear lots of kids. We were awakened each morning around 6am to little feet doing laps in the room above us. Not surprising, but would be nice to avoid if possible.
The next day we had the breakfast buffet at the resort. We had been before and while there is a huge offering of food, it does feel pricey. However, if you "check in" via your "Yelp" app at your table, you can score a coupon for $5 off each buffet order for your table! We did and with that discount, felt we paid very fairly. We of course still tipped our server for the full amount before the coupon was applied. Our server worked so hard. You could see the many tables filling up but she still was able to tend to my daughters many requests - more ice water, more crayons, extra napkins, etc. She was also very nice about accepting our mobile coupon, which can definitely be a pain for the server, she had to bring my phone to a manager to retrieve the discount for us, and apologized for the delays. We did not mind a bit, only felt badly having to trouble her on a busy morning. She was wonderful. The food is very good. My only complaint is that the bacon tray empties out very quickly. I saw some people go through and just get a pile of bacon, fine whatever, but it goes fast. When I asked if there was more coming out they said there would be but it didn't come out in time for us to have it during our breakfast. No worries though as there is more then enough to eat here!
Our plans for the day included the indoor water park and then the outdoor pool for the rest of the day. Our daughter is finally 48 inches tall without shoes and she was bound and determined to ride the slides solo this time. During our visit this spring she had to ride with her dad because she was not quite 48 inches tall. She had a blast. After that our only plans for the day were to just enjoy the outdoor pool for all that it was worth.
There are towels provided and plenty of spots to lay out in the sun with chaise lounges as well as a few tables with umbrellas. The pool is fenced in and has restrooms adjacent to it.
Our daughter is 8 and is at that age where she wants someone in the water with her all the time. She is a good swimmer but wants to be entertained. Enter the best part about our stay ----the DJ. At 3pm we saw a DJ setting up outside near the outdoor bar, that's right parents. At first my husband and I rolled our eyes, "Ugh, a DJ? this could be annoying". Nope, he ended up being the highlight of our stay. He was super fun and ALL ABOUT entertaining EVERYONE. Not just the kids. He played fun summer tunes and a lot of current pop songs. He had all kinds of games to keep the kids busy. For 2 hours our daughter did not even want to see us. She had a blast playing the games, like "who can do the best cannonball" contest, march around the pool in whatever costume you can make from your parents clothes and hats that they brought to the pool, or just diving in the pool for toys that he would toss in. He was SO MUCH FUN! And for the adults he would go around and have us all take turns rolling these big fuzzy dice. Whoever rolled the number he said was the lucky number would win - he gave away gift certs for lunch and dinner at the resort for some of the winners! It was fun for all of us. My husband and I enjoyed margaritas by the pool too. We loved it.
Dinner our second night we drove about ten minutes north of the resort to "Delaney's Hole in the Wall". We had a bit of a wait, 40 min, but were able to snag some bar seats and have an app while we waited. It was well worth the wait. Our food was great! SO many options to choose from. We had burgers and they were amazing.
When we got back to the resort we played some games in the arcade. I love the pinball machine here, it's a fun game, but 75 cents a pop feels a little high. 50 cents is more like it? We are huge fans of the air hockey here too, the machines are very dated though, they are erratic and sometimes would come on but then not drop a chip to play. The people at the front desk were so nice though when we complained and they gave us replacement tokens. I would love to see some more games here.
We appreciated how much they cater to families and kids here. Every day there is a schedule of fun things to do, most are free.
We had a great time and will definitely be back!
"Wonderful family getaway."
We have a very special weekend this summer which included a stay at the Red Jacket Resort. They had a special for families with Autistic children which included a 2 night stay in a very nice room overlooking the beautiful White Mountains and passes to their wonderful indoor waterpark and passes to Story Land which was also part of the Autism Awareness weekend. What a wonderful weekend we had. Story Land is always great but we also really loved the waterpark which is closely monitored by several lifeguards who never sit down but walk around with their eyes constantly on the children. We ate all our meals at the resort and the breakfast and dinner buffets were delicious and bountiful. We even got to take a ride on the horse driven wagon from the resort to downtown North Conway. Very family oriented resort with attentive and gracious personnel. A little pricey but worth every penny.
"Great place for kids"
We have stayed at the Red Jacket many times with our granddaughters and it's always been a pleasure. The place is geared towards kids. The activities they provide for the kids (horse drawn carriage rides, toasting marshmallows, pool party, etc., the water park, the friendly staff, and the large rooms, a little dated, but a pleasure. I can definitely recommend the Red Jacket.
"Weekend in North Conway with small kids"
Great stay, something for everyone. Service was excellent, they went out of thier way to help us.. Water park is amazing, We had a horse and wagon ride (complimentary) and we ordered breakfast in our room which was fabulous..
cant wait to go back
"great for family"
great hotel to stay at. Raul at the service desk at the water park was excellent, very polite and helpful. rented and town house and it was magnificent. a home away from home. my kids wanted to go back there the next day after we got home. that sums it all up.
"Glad we made the trip!"
So much to do in the area!
Accommodations were very nice! We stayed at one of their townhouses and it was perfect for us - 4 Adults and 2 children.
The first nite we got in late and ordered Pizza from the hotel and it was surprisingly delicious!
There was plenty of room for all of us at the townhouse and our housekeeper, Carol, took great care of us....always accommodating, friendly, and never failed to ask if we needed anything!
This has been a most pleasant stay!
"All in one!"
First time! Had a wonderful experience and made memories that will last a lifetime. The food was amazing, drinks were great, friendly staff and the room had a beautiful view and fit our needs. The only downfall was having to call the lobby several times for plumbing issues in our bathroom, my kids and i had to use the hotel public restroom instead.
"No need to leave the resort!"
Such a nice clean hotel to stay at, staff is very friendly and professional from being greeted at the front desk from Kelly or Gary to the nice housekeepers Leone and Judy who do a great job on keeping the rooms clean. The lifeguards do a great job in the water park, so attentive. We really enjoy the breakfast buffet and have been vacationing @ The Red Jacket Mountain View Resort for 16 years.
"First time visit"
This was our first stay at the Red Jacket Mountain View resort. We booked based on a recommendation from a friend who had stayed here years ago with her family. Our kids 7 & 9 loved it! We spent more time at the pool than anywhere else. We were lucky to have fabulous weather during our stay. Beware of the smoking area near the pool deck. I was enjoying the sun when several smokers took up residence at the smoking area and I was forced to move seats.
Great activities for kids posted on a white board at the front desk each day including poolside DJ, poolside popsicles, tiki mask making, kite making, lawn darts, sun catchers, horse drawn carriage rides, movie nights, nightly marshmallow toasting and ceramic painting. Please note ceramic painting is an additional cost not mentioned on the daily board - cash only no room charge.
We stayed in a traditional room on the first floor with 2 double beds. Floors are tile not carpet. The mattress on 1 of the beds needs to be replaced!! We had to request a rollaway for my spouse to sleep on. I would stay on the second floor next time. First floor hears all the activity on the second floor. Kids running back and forth and all hours of the day / night. Woke me up a few times.
My biggest pet peeve in hotels is the water pressure. I have very thick hair and need the water pressure to rinse properly. Unfortunately the red jacket lacks this for me. Bathroom is small. No privacy to change clothes when you have older children - challenging at times.
Each room has a private outdoor "deck". Ours was facing a dumpster :(. We did not use it other than to hang our swim suits to dry.
The indoor water park is a huge hit with our kids - especially the wave pool. This is $20/per person/per day.
Overall a very pleasant experience. We will come back.
"Great stay in New Hampshire"
Very nice accommodations in handicapped room, very clean, great AC, very prompt room service and good food. The staff was friendly and most accommodating. I would certainly stay again. Did not use the waterpark due to broken foot. Stayed one night.
"Great for kids and families"
This resort caters to kids and families. Very kid friendly. Great for a weekend trip with your kiddos. We have been staying at this hotel for years. The breakfast buffet is awesome. The restaraunt is great. Great service, good food. Look out deck is nice for a cocktail before dinner.
"5th Year of staying at Red Jacket!!"
It's our 5th year at the Red Jacket!! As always great service and good food. Christopher at Palmer's was fantastic!! We love the location and atmosphere. Kids love the pool and water slides. Family friendly for sure!! See you next year! We will be back again!!
"Awesome Time!!"
Totally loved the Red Jacket Resort! The staff was super friendly and helpful. The food is delicious! We loved the water park. It is located right downtown near shops, attractions and restaurants. The view was wonderful. Totally kid friendly resort! Would stay there again and again. Do not change what you are doing Red Jacket, it is working!
"Excellent"
Red Jacket is the best hotel in the area . Perfect location , just minutes from story land and restaurants .
The hotel it self is nice and clean and water park is very kids friendly.
Staff is polite and helpful .
We were guests at red jacket in cape cod last year and we had a nice stay.
I would recommend any of their resorts .
They really know what they doing.
"Great family destination"
Spent four days at this lovely resort. Everything is clean and family friendly. The staff is welcoming, helpful and friendly. Our housekeeping staff member Carol was awesome. So accommodating to our schedule, no problems with us asking her to come back later. We stayed in one of the townhouses, definitely the way to go for families. There were several options for food! By the pool, in the water park and of course their restaurant with beautiful mountain view. I highly recommend this resort.
"Back again and couldn't be happier"
Here again welcomed with open arms,my daughters birthday they delivered flowers and cookies as promised and cheaper that I would have thought
Pool Sh rocked the afternoon frozen drinks were great and reasonable price
Water park clean fun and not too crowded
"Nice Water Park, Average Hotel"
The hotel is just okay. The rooms are nice and large and well appointed but he feel of the place is an older hotel that needs some updating (especially the hallways and common areas). But it is nicely furnished and very clean. Plus the staff at the front desk and the bellman are very nice and helpful.
The extra "resort" activities are a nice touch, but it really is just a hotel - not really a resort. The best thing is the attached Water Park. It was very clean, not crowded and well staffed. The slides, wave pool, basketball are good for all ages. We had a blast.
The hotel is also not too far from the nice downtown area of North Conway. It is a pretty town with shops and an old train. We hope to return.
"Family and friends weekend trip"
This was our third booking at the Red Jacket, perfect family vacation spot. The previous reviewer should have done their homework as this is clearly a family with kids oriented resort.
The accommodations are comfortable and clean, staff was great and food was decent. Pool was great and when the indoor water park is open it seems most if the kids disappear. Beautiful surroundings..had some issues with the shower water being hot and cold...literally...but wasn't a huge problem. All in all a great family vacation.
