My husband and I (age 49) stayed at the Playa Mujeres resort from July 3- July 10th. We have traveled exclusively to Cancun once a year as a couple for the past four years and have been to Iberostar Grand Paraiso, Secrets Silversands, and Secrets Maroma Beach. Without hesitation, I believe Secrets Playa Mujeres to be comprehensively the best of all of them. Our ROOM was beautiful, sufficiently air conditioned and thoroughly cleaned each day. The king size bed was so comfortable! Anything you need is brought to you immediately. The POOL is huge, the BEACH is beautiful--both have ample seating and umbrellas, though it is true, chairs at the pool get

"Nothing short of pure excellence..."
First, I have to say that my wife and I did not experience anything negative while staying at this resort. On the contrary, our stay was incredible from the moment we arrived until the morning we checked out. We stayed in room 1015, a Preferred Club room with a private pool facing the beach. The room was awesome, the closet huge, the shower massive and the bed was phenomenal. The AC was artic, the living room large, the views heavenly, hell, even the toilet paper was scented. The food was better than expected. We never experienced long waits. The drinks were good. The entertainment was really good. The breakfast buffet was fantastic. To us, the Preferred Club was well worth it. We went there a couple times a day for the best Margaritas in Cancun. The breakfast served at Oceana for PC was outstanding. We were never told no for any request. Check in and check out was painless, they even served us premium drinks during check in, very nice... All employees were incredible. We never experienced any that didn't seem to want to serve or help us. We did tip, we took a lot of ones for meals and drinks and fives for housekeeping and room service. A small price for incredible service and quite frankly, certainly deserved. Our pool and patio was our sanctuary. We were in it everyday, several times a day and in the evening after a night out. We let Andrea ( Preferred Club Lobby) know at check out that we would be back and we want the exact same room. Before this trip, I reviewed this site for info and tips. Some of the reviews were alarming. Fortunately, we didn't experience any of the negative comments. I must say, we are not demanding, snobbish, condescending, impatient or just plain rude. We are from the south (we are not rubes either) and tried to speak the language when we could. We just generally tried to have a great disposition and positive outlook. Our trip rocked. We will go back and we will highly recommend this property. Our only comparison would be a previous stay at a Sandals property in St. Lucia. They even had a band that played '80's rock one night. They were epic. This place is a lot of fun, period. Two thumbs up. If I had to name a con, I guess the ice was too cold.....Go, you'll be glad you did.
"Great Resort with Fantastic Food"
We went to this resort in February with another couple. We were very pleased with our stay. The food was truly exceptional- probably the best food that we have had at the more than 15+all inclusive resorts that we visited in Mexico. The room was very comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor Jacuzzi on the patios. The service was great and very friendly. We were very pleased with the exceptional service- the staff were very friendly and helpful. The entertainment was very good, we especially enjoyed the cigar rolling. The resort is new, and we had heard that other people had experienced problems when the resort first opened in November; however, we did not experience any problems. The check-in and check-out were quick and painless and service was outstanding. The formal restaurants were a distance from the hotel area and you had to go there in carts, which was a little bit of bother. However, once you go there, the food and service were well worth it.
"12th Anniversary trip"
This was our first all inclusive resorts stay. We are advid cruisers and enjoyed this change of pace.Overall this resort was absolutely astonishing it was a rather large resort but with that being said it had transportation that came almost every 5 minutes to take you where you needed my only downside to this resort would be the buffet. IM JUST NOT A FAN OF BUFFETS. On our 4 day 3 night stay we were able to try the french, italian and japanese restaurants which were all equally amazing.our eoom was impeccable and room service was fast and delish. We had breakfast in bed served to us on day 2 they came in with a table champagne several different dishes it was truly a great experience. My husband and I look forward to returning next year!
"Enjoyed our stay"
My wife and I just returned from this resort yesterday. I would say overall, we enjoyed our stay and the resort. The beach was nice but if you're looking for long walks on the beach I would say this isn't the place. The beach ends at the resort property line. The nice part is that the resort is secluded but that's also what causes the beach to end at the property line. The service/staff was very good. There are many different dinner options...the food was good (I wouldn't say outstanding) but portions were surprisingly small. Breakfast and lunch options were great. The pool was awesome and huge. Do yourself a favor and buy a cheap pool mattress and throw it in your suitcase...you'll want it to float around on. You can blow it up when you get there...they do have a few at the hotel but they got taken pretty early in the day. As with any beach resort...better get up early if you want a premium chair location at the pool.
"Extremely spoiled!"
I went here in June with some of my girlfriends. This is by far the best all-inclusive I have stayed in. The room was spacious with a lovely patio and infinity pool. Everything in the room was top notch and the staff kept it stocked with our favorite drinks and munchies. The beach was beautiful, clean and very private. It looks out at Isla Mujeres and the ferry is within five minutes. I can't say enough about the staff at the resort; they made me feel like a queen. Margarito, was always there to make sure we had reservations in time, a great place to lounge, and transportation. The wait staff around the pool worked very hard to make sure we were taken care of. The food was what really set this place apart from other all-inclusives that I have stayed at. Great effort goes into everything they prepare and the dining options were excellent. The Japanese restaurant had the option of hibachi, which was entertaining and excellent. The Seaside Grill had great chips, guacamole and salsa. The nightclub had a lot of variety, including karaoke. Ricardo, the resort manager was so accommodating and gracious. I just can't say enough about how impressed I was with this resort.
"Nice new resort..."
I was here February of this year and the place was barely open. Rooms are very nice and the area was awesome. The quality of the food is good and the staff was friendly. The golf is a very nice place. It was an all-inclusive option and everything was premium.
"Perfect Retreat for Couples! Great Service."
We went with two other couples. I can not say enough about the quality of service and food. Normally I am weary of All-Inclusive food but it was fantastic. I loved the breakfast buffet. I think between the 6 of us we ate at least 20 lbs. of Guacamole. The service was fantastic. The staff was on top of anything we needed or asked for. We would come back again in a heartbeat. We upgraded to a beachfront room with a small dipping pool. The view was incredible. The maid service was spot on and the room was always clean and fresh when we returned. Our favorite place to hang out was the tiki bar by the beach. They have swings hanging around the bar. Just be careful if you have a couple too many...:) There are lots of activities and we were never bored. One of our best vacations without the kiddos. The only negative is the WIFI wasn't working very well and I am a Realtor. This made it difficult to communicate with clients and doing a business deal at the time. I am not sure though if that was really a negative because I was force to relax and not work. lol!
"OUTSTANDING SERVICE!"
This was by far the best service from any resort that my husband and I have vacationed at. The staff constantly comes around to check on you and see if you need anything. If you ask for something and they don't have it, THEY WILL FIND IT FOR YOU! We didn't have to wait at any of the restaurants (ate between 8:00-8:30) except for the Sushi Bar (an hour wait:(). The food was good, the drinks were good, and the service was OUTSTANDING! We were there for July 4th, and this resort went above and beyond for a Fourth of July celebration - foam party in the pool, boat of fruit served in the pool, outdoor barbecue, fireworks, party accessories... The entertainment staff was great, loved the cigar rolling class, the gym was great, the pool is amazing, the pool waitresses were great, and our room view was unbelievable (4304).
"FrankChelly & Xmenia made this vacation Relaxing!!!"
If it were not for these two (2) employee's...boring vacation! However, FrankChelly and Xmenia saved this vacation for us! Look for FrankChelly at the pool area as she is great to please with drinks. She worked so hard and so fast to make sure we were attended to. The best pool server of all time and we have taken plenty of all inclusive vacations. Xmenia works for the entertainment staff and she was Fantastic!!! Really the entire entertainment staff was great but Xmenia definitely stood out as someone going places! She was attentive to us and made us feel like she cared about our stay...sincere and genuine. Great at making us get involved in all activities but not too pushy either, she was perfect! Look forward to seeing them again!!!
"Destination Wedding, everyone had a blast!"
We had our destination wedding at this resort with 44 guests and we had a blast. The resort is a good mix of fun and relaxation. If you are looking for purely a quiet spot this probably isn't your place, but for our wedding it provided class and fun all together. Our guests ranged in age from early 20's to late 60's and everyone had a great time. The food is really good and for teh most part teh resort is very clean and staff was very accomodating. I was nervous about planning our wedding from North Carolina and not seeing anything until we arrived, but our coordinator was phenominal and I literally did not have to lift a finger. Everything that we expected and were promised they delivered!!

We had an amazing time! David and Alejandro at the Bar Manatees treated us amazingly! Favorite bartenders ever!!! Definitely recommend this resort! Make sure to order a Cherry Pop, Scooby Doo, and/or Superman shots!!!
"Beautiful rooms and grounds"
My husband and I stayed at this property and found our room to be our favorite place. We had an oceanview and enjoyed the jacuzzi in the bedroom and also on the balcony. This seems to be a very active property with larger groups and a crowd in their mid 20's to 50's. The pools were beautiful and not too cold for winter travel, but crowded. We spent our time on the beach mainly. The water was clear while we were there, but I know that there are reports of seaweed up and down the coast. I liked that beach vendors weren't bugging us and trying to sell us things while we relaxed. The staff was courteous and accomodating most of the time. We had a hard time getting good service at the pool bars. The entertainment staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the food and although there was not a reservation required(which we love), we had to wait for a table many of the nights. We did a treatment at the spa and it was very enjoyable. We enjoyed the spa area, very quiet and well kept. The "night life" and spa and pretty far from the rooms and a golf cart will get you to that area. We enjoyed the live musicians in the evenings while waiting for dinner. We don't usually go to the shows, but we felt that they were above average for an all-inclusive. Overall, I found this property to be well maintained and the food above average for an all-inclusive. I would recommend for groups traveling together. It's a large property and crowded and it can be hard to find a chair sometimes.
"Would recommend!"
Bldg 3 overlooking Oceana Restaurant and the water was a breathe of fresh air. Room inside was clean. Poolside always had enetainment throughout the day. Staff was always energetic, friendly and engaging. If you want a more quiet time the beach is the place to be. My particular week had excessive seaweed along the shoreline, however I heard it's running ramped throughout the Ucitan Penisula. The food was okay, wouldn't call it great, but the ambiance and the staff was amazing.
"I'm not sure where some of you have stayed....."
I came to this resort with my husband and my sister in law and her husband. Reading the reviews prior to our trip had me a wee bit nervous but we're approaching the last day of our trip and it has been nothing short of amazing. I'm not sure where some of the people who've written past reviews have stayed but it clearly was not here. The food was good, the French restaurant being the best. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. We did tip $1 here, $5 there but we never felt that the staff expected to be tipped. We did not purchase the preferred club because we did not see the benefit for the extra money. The pool is HUGE and yes one side of the pool was a little louder than the other but what do you expect people are on vacation. If you want peace and quiet go to the other side of the pool, it's just that simple. While this resort is not a "couples" resort there are still romantic areas throughout the resort. There are plenty of ways to be secluded with your significant other if that's what you are looking to do. Please don't let the reviews discourage you from coming to this resort. It was simply amazing.....
"GREAT VACATION"
This was our first visit and we really enjoyed our stay. Check in - No issues and very smooth Room - Ocean Front Master Suite with private pool - superb Resort layout - very clean and no issues Restaurants - Generally good, the french was our first choice Staff - Fantastic and a credit to the hotel The downside on our trip were the restaurants were too warm on many occasions and the mosquitos!!!
"Fabulous Stay"
Myself and my wife stayed in the resort for 10 days at the start of June. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we had a 5 star experience. The food, service, facilities were excellent. The only regret we had was we didn't stay for longer.
