"If you like nature.....you will love this resort!"
This resort is top notch for service and rooms. Meals are always left up to the one eating them and to me, they were fine. Some of the reviews on this site would scare a person from going to this resort. I do not know where they have been in the past, but my group of 10 thought this place was heavenly. We paid extra for the Xcarat Experience and it was worth every penny. Coming and going from the park every day was such a bonus. I love the tunnel over to the park from the beach area, it was awesome. Our room was the standard room and was cleaned daily. The maids sometimes came later in the day which was fine, I had no problem with that. I asked for a few extra items and every day they were there for me. One day there was a major flood in the bathroom from above, I had several people in and out of my room and the mess was cleaned up very professionally and in a most timely manner. The timeshare people did talk to us about their offerings and |I declined both times. They gave me a green band to wear on my arm so that no one else would ask about timeshare to me. No problem. David, Edith and Ismael were fabulous! We had monkeys on our balcony, they loved to eat the bananas from us. So cute to see the wildlife up close. This resort is one of the finest anywhere....not sure where these people that gave bad reviews stayed at! Perhaps they have the wrong hotel. I strongly recommend it. It was our 4th time there and it has done nothing but get better with every visit. Show less
"Birthday celebratory holiday"
Just recently spent a week at the Occidental. I had read reviews before the visit and was slightly apprehensive as I had booked this as a surprise trip for my husband's 50th birthday but it was amazing. Negatives - the only negatives we would say is that the pool with swim up bar was being renovated and there was a couple of maintenance works going on. Can't be helped but would have been good without. Positives - where do I start? Check in, facilities, staff, room, food were all excellent. We stayed in block 15 which was right next to one of the pools (with great comfy loungers), just a 2 minute walk from the lobby and approx. 5 minute walk to the beach. Beach was amazing too with great bar, staff and the beach restaurant was such a lovely place to sit and have lunch with a nice glass of wine. My husband particularly liked the sports bar in the evening where you could sit and chill in comfy chairs whilst enjoying a drink out of glasses (not plastic cups that you use at the beach). I can't remember staff names but the guy in the sports bar, there was one guy at the beach bar and the lady who predominately served you drinks at the beach were all amazing. We really couldn't understand how anyone could be negative about this hotel, we would definitely recommend (I already have) and we would go back. Thank you Occidental.

Back again for a little Grand hospitality - excellent food, service, ambience. The grounds are outstanding, always very clean and lots of choices. The staff at this resort really know what Customer Service is all about . Many Tks.
"Occidental Stay"
Overall very good. There were a couple of works going on while we were there which is common just before high season. The beach unfortunately had quite a bit of seaweed in the bay area from a recent storm (no body to blame there just weather). Didn't really stop us going in the water and seeing the fish. i would recommend we had a great time there.

I love everything in this resort. All we asked for was provided, we mostly ate at buffet in the main building and at the beach. Went once to Gril rest was great, Italian not so good, room is wonderful we staid in building 22, room is great, it was humidity in the room, I asked what can be done, right away humidifier was broke to the room, night shows unbelievable wonderful, beach aerobics were great, service desk people were great, can't wait to return to this resort very soon!, loved it there
"Anniversary celebration"
Great time friendly service would difinitley recommend and come back to this resort great location and it rain 2 of the day we were there but had plenty of palapas and bar service to enjoy the rain all around great time
"Week at Occidental Xcaret"
Very much enjoyed our stay. Room was comfortable, spacious and clean. Grounds beautifully preserve nature. Excellent and friendly attention by service staff who genuinely seemed to enjoy conversation in our less-than-perfect Spanish. Pecially enjoyed ready access to Xcaret, a spectacular and entertaining eco-park.
"Great resort - beautiful grounds and friendly staff"
This was a great resort that I visited with a friend for a relaxing week. From the time we arrived to when we left the service was fantastic. All staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. Shuttles around the grounds were available but we choose to walk everywhere which was very easy. Food was great in all the restaurants and buffet we visited. Some renovations were going on throughout the property but this did not disrupt us at any point during our stay. Would definitely recommend this resort to other and will be returning again!
"Dinning"
Had a great time dinner at the la haciendo was so amazing our waiter Marcelo Coello was nothing but top notch best service hands down and the chef Anwar Arroniz can't say enough about him the lobster amazing. Great job and that's for everything
"Vacation with Best Friends"
A quick one week away with our best friends. Weather could have been better but the resort was very palatial and very clean. The wonderful people like Angel Hernandez and Mario from Activities and Jose Sanchez one of our servers and Emilio the attentive life guard made our stay superb!
"One of the best A.I. experiences I've had!"
I have stayed at three all-inclusive's in this area, this was my favorite. I always say when dealing with all-inclusives, it's all in your expectations, and what you have to compare it to. My expectations always start low, as they did with this resort but I was pleasantly surprised! The rooms were very nice and updated... well at least the one I stayed in, in block 18. Very clean and visually appealing with comfortable beds. Room was cleaned early everyday and mini fridge stocked. I always request an ocean view room but didn't get one, which was fine because the jungle view was beautiful and translated very well in photos. The food: Although the buffet wasn't as massive as other one's I've experienced, there were some good options and everything was tasty to my surprise. I only ate at the steak restaurant and paco's tacos ala carte's. The steak wasn't a "choice" cut of meat but it was very tasty as was the mashed potatoes. Paco's was over rated in my opinion but was a good option if you want something quick. Service was very slow here. Beach: The beach was full of seaweed, but that's not the resorts fault. To their credit, they had men working all day trying to clear it away. If you swam out closer to the buoy, the water was crystal clear and you could see plenty of fish. The adult section (salt water pool) is where I spent my days because of the seaweed. Emilio the snorkel instructor/life guard was just amazing! He took over my camera and got some breathtaking shots of sea urchins, puffer fish, coral, and other living things. If you are a true snorkeler, go to the the adult section as that is where he's at and where you will see some amazing sea life. I brought my own gear but they do have some for your use. Entertainment: I didn't attend any shows, but the live music in the lobby at night was a great accompaniment to a good chocolate martini and socializing with other guests. I will stay here again, it was one of the best vacations I've had of many.
"Occidental Xcaret is xcellent"
We had a marvelous experience at the Occidental Xcaret. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The setting is as beautiful as you could want. It has everything. The rain forest, the beach, the swimming pool, excellent food, wonderful entertainment and a magical feel for the whole place. The monkeys in the jungle coming out to greet you as you walk to the ocean is a definite plus. Definitely a place a person should stay.

A beautiful resort in a beautiful location. The stay exceeded my expectations - based on staying at different resorts in the same area. The food, service, and overall experience was top notch. We will definitely be coming back to this resort on our next trip to Mexico.
"Excellent Resort"
This is a beautiful resort, close to the attractions. The rooms are very large. All of the restaurants served very great food with several choices and great quality. We want to thank Stella, the housekeeper for keeping our room clean. I would like to thank the chef, Anar Prinin and our server Marcello Coello. He is the best, but all of them are very friendly and nice to us. We will be back soon! Mexico is beautiful but more beautiful are the people from Mexico.

We had a wonderful experience at this resort. The staff were so amazing! Friendly and helpful. If I could, I would like to mention a few of your staff members that really stood out for us. Maricarmen Villasenor - Concierge at the beach, Otilio Serrano - server in the buffets, Angel Hernandez - Aquatic Activities, Emilio - lifeguard. They all certainly made our stay so memorable. Great house keeping (Claudia - building 12), very clean room. Good food. Beautiful resort. We will definitely be back, this time with our kids! Very family friendly.
"Tropical Paradise"
Very scenic park with Mayan ruins throughout, Spacious pools with plenty of activities and staff. Xcaret park literally a few minutes walk. well worth the price of $99.00 ea for Occidental residents. Very clean rooms. Still looking for that perfect beach though, but that may be subjective, Tiered sand part of beach, you will have to walk down several groups of steps to water and the beach was rather crowded compared to the rest of the resort, You will literally swim with the fishes, sometimes nibble at your ankles.

My wife and I really enjoyed our experience. Its definitely a uniquely beautiful resort being so near to the jungle reserve. A huge plus for us was the customer service experience that we received. It really made our stay especially memorable. There were two people who really stood out to us that gave us impeccable service and that was Maria who served us drinks by the adult pool, as well as Ramone (I hope I am spelling that right) who works at the taco restaurant. I hope management reads this and rewards those two for being so incredible at customer service. From the great restaurants, the daily interaction with monkeys, to the reef you can snorkel, we really enjoyed our stay and plan to return.
"Xcaret"
Great hotel, staff exceptional, however, beware the timeshare guys, they are nothing but intimidating bullies, we told them we had no jobsc& they left us alone, Xcaret park not worth the money, more animals around hotel than in there, definitely go to coco bongos well worth it!!
"Paradise In cancun"
If you love animals, great vibes, variety and nature, this 5 star resort will blow your mind. With a choice of dinning, swimming, exploring and entertainment you will find it hard to leave. The staff are fun, friendly and polite. The resort is like Disney land but there is so much to do. There is a pharmacy and shops on site that are well priced and have everything you need. The animals roam freely and at any given time u can see monkey, deer and giant iguanas. Truly paradise.
