My 3 night stay at this hotel was an amazing experience. The Hotel was nice and clean. Well, except for when my kids would go to the pool and come back dripping wet throughout the hotel.. lol.. but even then there was someone cleaning after them and all the others coming in from the pool. My family and I really loved and enjoyed our stay. I must say this, The staff was amazingly nice, kind, helpful and respectful!! I really loved them all. Overall our experience with this hotel was awesome. Clean rooms, lovely employees and perfect location to the RiverWalk. I LOVED IT.

"Great room for a great value"
Hotel was clean and staff friendly. The building is older but has been updated in the last few years. Their stay 2 nights get a 3 free was great. Over all awesome experience. Centrally located to river walk restaurants, the market and other sights.

My 3 night stay at this hotel was an amazing experience. The Hotel was nice and clean. My family and I really loved and enjoyed our stay. I must say this, The staff was amazingly nice, kind, helpful and respectful!! I really loved them all. The pool view room I had was perfect to watch my kids play in the pool while I was in the room. The only small complaint I had was the bed. The double bed room we reserved had 2 almost twin size beds, It barely fit my husband and I. But we made it work. Next time I will specify Queen or King. But Overall our experience with this hotel was awesome. Clean rooms, lovely employees and perfect location to the RiverWalk. I LOVED IT.
"Great Hotel!"
Was skeptical to stay because of some of the reviews but we are so glad we stayed. Even though the hotel is old and has some "cosmetic" flaws the place was awesome. My husband, two kids (ages 5 and 1) and myself loved this hotel. Pool is really cool. Main Riverwalk area is a 15 minute walk or you can get a river taxi which is what we did. Hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. Highly recommended hotel and we will definitely be back!
"Best service ever"
I don't normally leave review but this time I have to do it. I'd like to thank Mr Benjamin Pantoja cause he really went above and beyond and did a great job with us, thanks to him we've had a wonderful time I certainly felt like I was home. I'm definitely coming back. Mr Ben you are the perfect example of how to do customer service, kudos to you Sir!
"Pleasantly Surprised!"
We got this hotel by using the name your own price tool. Not going to lie, we were a little concerned to stay there based on some of the reviews. My husband and I were traveling with our 11 yr old and 4 yr old daughters. When we arrived and got to our room it was spacious and clean, we had no issues at all. We enjoyed sitting outside and having a beer from the bar while our girls had a snack after a long day on the Riverwalk. We walked to and from the main area with restaurants and without a 4 year old that's not in a hurry it could easily have been done in 15 minutes. It's a really nice walk. Would definitely stay there again.
"Exceptional Value"
Nice property on the Riverwalk. Great dollar value, especially considering across the street is a similar hotel with rates $100 higher. Clean rooms and public area. Safe. Great swimming pool, large enough to handle a crowd!
"Pleasant"
Friendly staff with an easy/quick check in. Room was clean & comfortable. Definitely seemed lived in with peeling wallpaper & scuffed up furniture, but everything worked great - shower, TV, AC. Parking was $16/day with unlimited in & out, but if you leave you will have to pay anywhere else you park as well. It's a bit of walk if you are going to the convention center. They offer free wifi, but it is sloooooowww!! I didn't even bother using it. You can pay extra for the fast stuff. My room had a nice balcony with a view of the pool - nice feature. I heard someone say that pool view rooms were loud, but that was not my experience. Overall, very peaceful place to sleep after a long day of work.

El Tropicano Riverwalk Hotel is a great place to stay at. My wife and I had an awesome time, place is clean, staff very friendly, the atmosphere in the hotel is really nice and it's close to the river walk and downtown
"Loved hotel and the rate. Best bang for the dollar"
Excellent place to stay. Loved the location and staff and hotel and room. It is a little dated but still nice. Good place for family. The public transit is nearby across street. Went all over San Antonio on 1.30 senior citizen fee. We had river view and it was lovely. Food good.
"Best hotel"
Awesome stay!! I would recommend this place to others wowith no problem, place was nicely decorated and the beds where awesome! Me and my boyfriend got the Kingsize suite with the river walk boat passes and breakfast it was a great price and we had such a relaxing day and then to top it off we relaxed at the pool afterwards with a refreshing drink from the tiki bar.
"Nice weekend stay"
My stay was great. I love that the staff is always friendly no matter the time of day. This is my 2nd time and will always come back. Liked how the trolley is in front of hotel that will take you downtown. Stayed May 2016, traveled with family
"Enjoyed our stay"
We spent a couple days here, we enjoyed our stay. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was clean and adequate. It is on the riverwalk and a short walk down to the main strip on the riverwalk. Gym looked decent, the pool looked decent but was still very cold. Parking is 16$ a day, breakfast is not included. Downstairs they have a tortoise and some birds. The hotel didn't seem quite as cookie cutter as the typical hotels. I would recommend this hotel in the future for the price.
"Great stay"
The hotel is across from the river walk which was a nice walk to restaurants and shops. The room was clean and in good condition. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was buffet but not included with our room. Street car stops right in front of hotel, cheap transportation (get a day pass) and is the best way to see the city. Would stay here again.
"Along the Riverwalk"
Stayed here for four night nights, wife and my 3 year old grandson. We pick this hotel on the because it was along the Riverwalk and they had a special of a free room if you stay two days. The room was nice for a older hotel and it faced the Riverwalk. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The staff were very nice and helpful Parking was 17 dollars each day Parking is high at all hotels. The city bus (blue route) runs by the hotel and can take you downtown for about $1.40 I would stay here again.
"Great hotel"
My wife and I stayed here three nights and I loved it. Great rooms that are 99% soundproof. The buffet is pretty good and they have a nice bar and coffee bar. The patio is just like being in a rainforest. We will definitely stay here on our next visiting.

NO room service. See amenities. Breakfast buffet ONLY. Pricey sandwich/drink counter through day. Wait staff for breakfast buffet is exceptional and kind, please leave cash tips. Room was great for $.

very nice clean hotel, staff was wonderful...the prices were awesome and we were right across from the Riverwalk...we had to check out at 3:30 am and the staff made sure we had a cab and coffee...will definitely go back
"Nice"
Purchased through TripAdvisor but still had a choice of what room and where. Parking is $10 across the street, $22 valet, or $16 self parking. If your gonna self park just park across the street. Room was nice, bathrooms were clean. The AC was on despite the fact we had a choice which tells me they usually keep it on to keep room fresh. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was actually on. You can't turn it off or on, its something they control which constantly purges the air to keep the building from getting "sick". Outside area is nice with music. The environment was so lively that we never even turned the TV on, just opened the balcony doors and relaxed. No shuttle, just a $6 cab ride away from the Alamo plaza. We will be back.
"Great Stay for Fiesta Weekend!"
Our family stayed here for Fiesta Weekend. The location was great for walking to various events, and especially for catching the lighted parade on Saturday night which was only two blocks away. We stayed in a suite and the room was a perfect size to share with our toddler.

I found the stay here wonderful! Everyone was so helpful. I was meeting up with 28 family members in San Antonio. We were all in different hotels. Everyone came to mine, saying next time they are booking at El Tropicana.
