"Great vacation"
We had a great time. Our room had a king bed and balcony facing the ocean. No extra charge, just a gentle request at the front desk. Hit the gym every day, then on to the pool where Alejandro set us up with cabanas. The buffet was fun and different themed, They even had a sushi night which was great. The guys a the bar went out of their way to make sure Havana Club rum was available (they even went to another bar in the hotel to snag some)
The bathroom shower was AMAZING. Hot, great pressure. Better than Ritz!
The hotel is smaller than most which means service was great. The staff was very friendly. Not much to do on campus at night, but cabs were easy. Good times.
"Excelent for the price"
Good facilities, good and clean rooms. Staff very well prepared and above average kindness.
The best all inclusive hotel regarding food quality and food service in Cancun.
I would come back. Very nice experience.
"Perfect Honeymoon"
Arriving at Sandos Cancun was lovely. We arrived just after Christmas on December 29, 2013. They gave us champagne and a red rose as they carried our bags to our room. Even the elevator was quick and smooth. What a wonderful first impression. When we arrived in our room, we were given a complimentary bottle of champagne and congratulations on our recent wedding.
From there, there were almost no flaws. The beach was beautiful and clean. The waters were warm, and everywhere we went there was someone offering us a drink or fresh towels.
The food was wonderful. I highly recommend the steak quesidillas or flank steak off the menu at St. Trop. You can sit and enjoy an ocean view as you get a slight Mexican flair to your lunch or dinner. Gaijin does require reservations, but if you enjoy Japanese quinine, it is to die for. My favorite restaurant, however, was Seasons. The food was absolutely incredible and the service was excellent. Of course, the room service was lovely as well.
All of this is included and even with a partial ocean view, my room was not a disappointment. We overlooked the pool, and we could see the ocean on one side and the lagoon on the other. What a way to wake up!
The rooms were exquisitely cleaned multiple times a day. The marble floors, beautiful wood furniture, and beautifully tiled bathroom far surpassed my expectations.
The one flaw I found with this resort was that, in our room, the wifi, although free, was often spotty. Sometimes it would work, but sometimes it would be too slow to function. It did work better in the lobby, on the deck behind the bar, and at the pool.
Overall, this was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it to others! What a quiet, peaceful, relaxing piece of paradise.
"Top Notch Experience!!!"
To a person, each staff member at Sandos Cancun Luxury is committed to making your stay the best. The pool concierge and wait staff, the bartenders, the hotel concierge, and the restaurants all go out of their way to make you happy. The chef at Seasons is world-class - you definitely want to try again and again his take on the various menu items.
"Beautiful all-inclusive resort"
Sandos resort is on the beach and beautiful. Our suite was on the 8th floor and from the balcony we could see the Caribbean to the right and the lagoon and city on the left. The service and food were superior. We were hesitant to stay in an all inclusive because we like variety. Sandos has great variety in the restaurants. The breakfast buffet has everything fresh that anyone could ever want, and it is served beautifully. Lunch was always on the beach and fantastic--along with the drinks. Dinner was different every night with three restaurants to choose from. We liked not having to hunt for a restaurant even though that is what we have always done before. We had a very relaxing stay at Sandos and hopefully will go back again soon.
"A peaceful, classy, beautiful getaway."
This resort is where you go to rejuvenate and not to spring break and party. My husband and I went the first week of October for seven days and the resort was quiet. We were looking for this so it was perfect for us. I kept hearing that it gets very busy around Christmas. The sea was warm like bath water and clear. The sand was kept up very well. The sea was calm for most of our trip and then the big waves came for our last day. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a young guy (Francisco?) who would be ready to set us up with the umbrella and towels on the beach every day when he saw us coming. He went out of his way for everyone and was terrific. We'd start the day at the beach, then go to the pools, then back to the beach. They have three pools with three temperatures and depths. We enjoyed all three. There is definitely something to be said with having this paradise without a ton of people around. The hotel helped us get a taxi into town for some shopping, but we spent most of the time at the resort. The resort had some fun activities and dinners which we enjoyed. Their rooftop was fun for some entertainment and drinks. The food at the restaurants was sophisticated and delicious and fun to dress up for (although not necessary). The lobby bar was a nice place to hit for after dinner drinks. Our hotel room was beautiful, bright, and very clean. We enjoyed our evenings on the balcony or walks on the beach. We left a few dollars each day for housekeeping, a few dollars for breakfast and lunch, a dollar every drink or every other drink at the pool, and a few extra dollars for dinner. Even though it is all inclusive, I think tipping is very appreciated (though they don't make you feel they are expecting it). I highly recommend this resort and would definitely return for a true escape from everyday life.
"The best holiday until now"
Sandos Luxury Experience Hotel is a boutique hotel. We have chosen it for our honeymoon because it has very good reviews on internet and because we wanted a smaller and more intimate hotel. Most of the hotels in Cancun are huge. It has around 250 rooms and this makes it great.
But nothing we read compared with the reality. The rooms are nice and very clean, the pools are big and the panorama is very nice, the spa is ok, the beach large and clean, the sea turquoise...and so on. Everyting someone can expect from a five stars hotel. But more than that, the best thing about this hotel is the staff. I have never been pampered and looked after in such a way. Everybody is GREAT! Not just friendly, or helpful, or outcoming. Great! From the moment we got there and until we left, everybody seemed to be there only to make our stay the best ever.
So, thank you Jorge (from Seasons Restaurant), Gustavo, Oscar, Ivan, Ilaria, Alejandro, Mildred, Martin and many others whose names I can't remember (but only because they are very different from those in our country).
"Best Bartender Ever! Recommended for relaxing vacation."
Shoutout to Mario at Bar One! He was super friendly, provides excellent service, and mixes great drinks that are off the menu. My wifey and I were looking to kill some time at the bar during the thunderstorm and Mario took care of us. We were there for a good time and he made sure we weren't disappointed.
The rooms were pretty big, but there were these small black bugs that crawl out of the tub every night. Nothing to really worry about because they were only in the tubs.
Food was great. Great quality for buffet style food. However, the steak at Seasons was a little too dry from my liking.
Location was awesome. It's tucked away from the boulevard so it's quiet.
I would recommend this place for couples and families who are looking for a relaxing vacation. Not so much for the party couple. However, we had a great time as we took our entertainment to the city. Just during the rainy days, there aren't much to do but drink and eat.
"Best All-Inclusive Experience in Cancun*****"
The resort is smaller than most all-inclusive experiences we've had but felt very friendly & we were treated like family (the staff went above & beyond our expectations). There are only 4 restaurants (Zango & Seasons was our favorite for dinner & we loved the food in St. Trop at the beach). The food was amazing, quality & presentation is unbeatable and one of the best we've had in all-inclusive experiences (we are very picky). The room size & decor was average but very clean, I can't say that I enjoyed the mattress or the pillows (could be better). Overall we loved our 12 nights there and are planning to go back in 2014.
A special "Thank You" to the following staff who made our trip unforgettable:
Entertainment - Alfonso, Ricardo, Maricio
Front Desk - Valentina
Zango - Casanova, Tere, Abdias (bar area)
Seasons - Jorge
Gaijin - Manuel
St. Trop - Viveros, Ivan, Oscar
Towel Service - Roman
"Excellent Experience - 2 months later I am still talking about it..."
I am a frequent traveler, but this is the first time I have written a review. I was compelled to write it after the amazing experience I had on vacation and to specifically mention those individuals that provided us with an unforgettable experience.
This hotel is truly a hidden gem. This boutique hotel experience is tucked away between larger, louder, less personalized hotels. If you are looking for a relaxing escape from your busy and stressful life, this is the place to regenerate. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by Veronica at the front desk. Though we arrived early, she with her colleague checked us into our two rooms simultaneously, coordinating to get us rooms close together with excellent views.
After arriving we had lunch outside served by Viveros, the food was fresh and delicious. Every recommendation he made was a good choice from drinks to dessert. All of the umbrellas were taken so we wandered around the pool in search of shade, no sooner had we started looking than Alejandro approached us and set us up in a shady twin cabana to save us from sunburn. Before the end of the day he had already reserved our space for the next morning.
Viveros and Alejandro continued to provide us with outstanding service by the pool every day they were there. Not only did they remember us and our preferences each day, they checked in regularly and gave us excellent pointers for making the most of our experience at the hotel. The rest of the staff is excellent and provide great service, but these two were missed on their days off.
Daniel put on an excellent show in the Japanese restaurant, and his sushi class during the day was extremely entertaining. The food was delicious and the class was made even more engaging by the entertainment staff. They hosted events effectively, inviting yet not pushy about getting people involved, keeping the ball rolling and making sure everyone that wanted to attend had a great time.
The only drawback to this hotel for me is the noise. Tile floors with furniture scraping along them as other guests and staff move throughout the building the sounds echo, disturbing any hope of sleeping in late into the morning. I made up for the missed sleep by napping on my lounge chair during the day.
Our overall experience was amazing, relaxing, genuinely stress-free and fun. I am already planning my next trip to this hotel.
"Great staff at a resort that takes the time to learn your name"
Traveled with my fiancee in late November 2013 for 6 days.
Checkin: Our flight was early so our room wouldn't be ready for a few hours but the front desk quickly registered us, took care of our luggage and set us up with wristbands for full access of the resort. I forget the name of the woman who helped us (that day and others). Elaria? If management reads this please forgive my spelling, she wrote it down for me but I misplaced the card.
Room: Requested an ocean view when booking the resort (4 months prior to stay). They were unable to guarantee this. When we checked in they gave us the closest room at our price range to the ocean on a top floor. Very happy with that. Rooms are typical mid-high range hotel rooms, nice enough without anything too special.
Pool/Beach Service: This is where the hotel made it's mark for us. Servers were attentive without being pushy, and Oscar remembered us after the first day and kept our drinks of choice full so we rarely even needed to ask. Sandos also employs 2 guys (Maurcio and Alfonso) to run events down on the beach and by the pool. They were great at getting people to play volleyball (pool + beach) or with cooking lessons. Without them it seemed people just took naps in the sun but b/c of them we were able to meet a few other couples and have a much better time at the resort, so thank you very much Maurico and Alfonso.
--As other reviews have noted, the mega-resort next door Secrets blocks the afternoon sun up at the pool level. We noticed that from about 2pm on the entire pool area was in the shade during late November.
Food: Zango Buffet was great and rotates different styles. Very high quality for buffet food.
Gaijin was a hibachi grill. They performed every trick I've ever seen from a Hibachi place.
Seasons required pants and more formal clothing. While I had some packed, we just never got around to being more fancy than flip flops.
St Trop was pool side food. Think diner food served with a margarita while you play volleyball.
Spa: Booked with LivingSocial so we got a complimentary couples massage. Very relaxing and the staff was very attentive. Whatever the neck pillows are scented with is now my new favorite smell.
TL;DR -- Great staff at a smaller resort that takes the time to make sure you have a good time. Some downsides such as pool sun and building layout, but easily over looked in full experience.
"MUST READ - - - Honest Review of Sandos Luxury Experience Resort"
We stayed at Sandos for 8 nights.....early Dec. 2013. We had a room facing the pool/ocean. We had twin 1 year olds with us and so our perspective may be unique but hopefully this will add insight into our stay.
The first day we were here, there was a lot of wind, and it was cloudy. Not the best start. Our room was available at noon as soon as we arrived and we were even upgraded to a nicer room. The rooms are nice, but a bit tight since we had two cribs in the room as well as a double stroller....but still, we managed fine. without those three items, the rooms are plenty big. Room service was fast! (15-20 minutes for pretty much anything). Restaurants were good but limited. the Japanese restaurant was great....plenty of food and pretty fast i guess. we went these 3 times. we went once to the Seasons restaurant but the service was a bit slower as the restaurant is more fancy...but the food was fantastic!.....well, the food was fantastic pretty much everywhere!!!!!
Breakfast is always buffet at Zango (only place that's open) with plenty of choices. Very well done. Lunch is always either at Zango (buffet or al a cart depending on hotel occupancy level. High occupancy = buffet) or at the pool. (those are the only two places open for lunch).
Both places are great. (try the brick oven wood burning pizzas, and the Flank steak that's always on the menu. Both VERY good!). Oscar is the server outside and very attentive. Thanks Oscar :-) There was another gentleman that also served us outside but can't remember the name. He was also very good. So was Erik who served us at Zango. Very professional! Kudos!
We were a bit disappointed at first with the pool situation.....darker color tiles than what we're used to but it's done (i think) to attract more heat. The pools were always clean and amazingly refreshing. a bit cold at first but with a day or two of full sun, Amazing!!! (the heated pool was also great. one of 3 pools they have)
Alfonzo and Ricardo at the volleyball/entertainment team were very good folks. we enjoyed their company and became friends. We hope to see them again soon. :-)
Overall, Excellent hotel/staff/service. We've been to alot of great resorts over the years but Sandos Cancun was probably the best overall quality/Value. The food is also amazing....did i mention that? :-)
Thanks to Veronica and ms. Martinez (hotel manager) for their hospitality.
There's a lot more to say but not enough time.....Email me directly if you have specific questions and i'd be happy to answer any.
Definitely go check out Sandos. You'll enjoy your time! Check out the pictures i'm also including....of the beach and the food :-)
"Great Resort with A Fabulous Staff"
This was our second of many trips to Sandos Cancun. The resort and its staff offer a truly luxurious experience from start to finish. There are a couple individuals in particular that stood out during our most recent trip. Alfredo the bell hop is very knowledgeable about local attractions and activities. Miguel Vasconcgcos, who was the bar tender in Zango is always polite and friendly. Enrique, a waiter at Zango provides exceptional service and is very friendly. Alejandro, who works the canbanas by the pool area is very attentive and there to make sure you have the cabana you want during your trip. Oscar, a waiter at St. Trop is wonderful and also very attentive. There is another waiter at Zangos, who is usually there in the morning, I believe his name is Miguel as well. He typically works the section on the far side of the seating area, with the couches along the windows. He was there during our last visit and we actually requested to sit in his section in the mornings due to his wonderful service. A great experience, can't wait to go back.
"We love Sandos"
Returned to Sandos for the week of Thanksgiving again this year. The staff, food and service could not be better. Nadia greeted us at the front desk and remembered us from the previous year. You immediately feel like you are on vacation when you step in the door. A lemony wash cloth to cleanse your hands after the long travel,a glass of champagne and a red rose for the ladies. That evening before dinner, a tray of meats, cheeses and more champagne was sent to our room, welcoming us for our return. The staff at poolside and in the dining rooms always managed to remember your preferred cocktail and even how and when you wanted your coffee at breakfast. This resort truly lives up to it's high rating. Linda & Mike K.
"Outstanding!!!!"
My wife and I came here for our honeymoon in the begining of November and from the time we were picked up at the airport everything was perfect!! We were greeted at the front desk with 2 glasses of champagne and a rose for her. After checking in, we sat down with the concierge and he went over all the different things to do at Sandos and around Cancun. I can honestly say, what you see in the pictures on their website is exactly what it looks like in real life. Very rarely does that happen. The entire place, from our room, to the restaurants to the pool area is was kept spotless. As part of our package, we had the couples massage which was top notch and the perfect way to start the morning of our first full day there. For the food, we tried and really enjoyed every restaurant they had. The breakfast spread at Zango was so large and impressive that there will be something for anyone. Dont let the name of "snack bar" fool you for the St. Trop, it was everything from ceviche to flank steak and the wood oven pizza was great! If it wasnt for me wanting to try all the different places, we probably would have eaten lunch and dinner there everyday. It was all fresh tasting and delicious, not to mention the drinks, which were superb. Every staff member there we came in contact with were extremely friendly and helpful. This was our first time visiting Cancun and will not be our last. From the service and experience we had at Sandos, this will be the only place that we will stay at in Cancun! Thank you to everyone at Sandos for making our honeymoon better than either of us could have imagined!!!
"AMAZING!"
Sandos Cancun is AMAZING! My new hubusand and I just got married at this resort on 11/29/13. The wedding planner Miriam was amazing! EVERYTHING was exactly how I wanted and the wedding was amazing. It was about to rain after the ceremony and they got everything moved indoors fast and the reception was AMAZING. EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMEBER IS AMAZING! From the front desk, to the bartenders, to the room service, everyone is so helpful, and so sweet. We had about 50 people stay at this resort for the wedding and we were all treated great! The staff goes above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, I couldn't of asked for more. The beach is gorgeous and the drink service on the beach is also amazing. The resort is new and nice and SUPER clean, and the food is great too! I wish I could go back right now! I am so thankful for everyone at Sandos, they made my dream wedding and honeymoon come true.
"Another luxury experience!"
This was our second trip to Sandos over Thanksgiving week. We were so impressed with everything last year, we decided to go again. It was still wonderful! The reasons why Sandos really shines is the service and the food. My family and I rave for weeks after about how delicious all the food is, and the presentation is first class. It is by far the best food we've had in Mexico, and we've been to many resorts there. The service is top notch because it is a boutique resort, so the same people take care of you all week, therefore getting to really know you. It was wonderful seeing many of the same employees on our return trip, and having them remember us. For instance, the entertainment crew was the same, and they are awesome! They are Alfonso ( Poncho ), Ricardo, and Mauricio. They try to get everyone invoved in the activities on the beach and around the pool. Plus, they come back at night and host more activities. They are all great, but our favorite is Poncho. He goes above and beyond to make sure everyone is having a blast, and he is excellent with children. My boys wanted to bring him home with us!
All four restaurants are impeccable, with Seasons being their fine dining. We ate there a lot, as well as Zango. I regret to say that I can't remember all the waiters names, but they were all so graciuos. Some employees that I would like to mention are Nadia at the front desk, and Llaria the receptionist. Both wonderful and accommadating. A few other names I must mention are Jonathan, Reyes, and Oscar the pool waiter. As you can see, the staff is amazing. We would definely return, year after year. I miss it already.
"highly Recommendable for a Family with very intimate service"
We're just from our December Vacation from Cancun. Among our itinerary we stayed at Sandos three nights and four days. Compared with neighboring bigger resort, Sandos seems to be very small at first but after a few hours we found why Sandos can survive betwwen Ritz Calton and Secret the Vine. Although Sandos is small in fact, we felt very intimate and interactive with staffs and guests also. All staffs including the room cleaning staffs, they remember our name and called us by name so that kind of attitude made a good influence to the guest from all over the world enoght to greet each other at many restaurants, especially around the TeppanYakki at Japanese Restaurant. Best of all were Nadia & Ilaria at the front desk who installed a DVD player for my baby and tried to help when I need to local tour agencies and gave us a nice viewing room for our pre 10th wedding anniversary. Our family really appreciate their hospitality during our stay. I think they expand the operating our of kids club(currently till 5PM) and fitness(till 9PM), they can be flawless. Great access to the nice beach and also nice 3 pools with restaurant can be a strong point of Sandos but we think that kind of merit is easily found at other resort. The reason why my family really want to visit again Sandos is their atttitude and family friendly environments.
Various great foods are addtional joy in Sandos.
"Relaxing & Fun Vacation"
Outstanding service by all staff members (bell boys, front desk, waiters, hostesses, bar tenders, kids club staff, room service, room attendants...all were great) made this a fun and relaxing week long vacation for our family of four. My wife and I were able to enjoy playing with our two kids on the beach and then have a couple of relaxing massages knowing that our kids were having fun at the kids club for a few hours.
Food and drinks were excellent at each of the restaurants in the hotel and at the pool side restaurant.
"Elegant Vacationing"
Great staff. Very Accommodating . Food excellent. This is the resort you want to book if you are looking for an intimate vacation. The resort is small in comparison with surrounding resorts. There are three restaurants in the complex and one by the beach. Bus service about a five minute walk from the resort. It cost less than one dollar to go downtown. Laundry facilities just across the street. Taxis plentiful just outside the main entrance. So if you are looking for a quiet vacation, fine dining and great service, this is the place to go.
"Great experience"
This is not a large hotel and but has a large and hard working staff. It was perfect for our family of five in that we could sit by the pool and keep an eye on our children who were rotating from pool to ocean.
The service was outstanding in regards to food or drinks and assisting anyone as far as going off grounds for shopping or eating. One of the waiters even took the time to play a little catch with my son when the day wound down.
The Bell Boys, Alfredo and Rene, were fantastic in both their main jobs and giving advice on many other activities and were just great in general conversation.
"Amazing!"
This was our first trip to Cancun and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. The hotel is smaller than some of the others which I preferred as it made the experience more personal. The service was amazing and all members of staff we came across in the bar, restaurants, concierge etc provided an excellent and friendly service. The rooms were spacious and clean and we were lucky enough to have a balcony with a lovely view over the pool and towards the beach. I found the bed very comfortable although the pillows were quite hard. All areas of the hotel had amazing decor and had a very modern look. The experience wasn't like previous all inclusive experiences as there wasn't constantly open buffets with huge amounts of food - they go for quality over quantity in my opinion. All the food was very well presented, delicious and very fresh. All the restaurants were amazing but I think my favourite for dinner was Seasons. The beach was gorgeous and there were always beds available - sun worshippers should head to the beach as the sun was at times hidden by some of the taller buildings when we sat around the pool.
I loved it at Sandos and would definitely go back - I didn't want to leave!!
