The food, beach, and accommodations are what I love about this resort. Being close enough to walk to the night life hot spots and shopping is a big plus. The staff is excellent Alberto in the restaurant is a pro and very attentive and the massages from Diana are among the best to melt you into relaxation mode. The beach is incredible, with soft sand wonderful sunrises.

"Beautiful"
Beautiful views friendly staff and amazing weather. A bit pricey for the room but food was great and the shows at night were fabulous! Highly recommend this hotel. I stayed 6 days and it was fabulous! Different choices of food each day and loved all the fresh fruits and authentic shopping nearby. Quick ride on bus to fun and dancing and shopping too

The Sunset Royal was a great experience! With the beautiful ocean view room, the clean and beautiful ocean and white sand beach, and the delicious food, this would be already be worth your while to book. But what really impressed me most was the wonderful staff. POLLY took care of us on the first day and made us feel welcome. GAMA at the snack bar was cheerful, and efficient in taking our orders for lunch by the pool. TODD was a great tour guide though the other Sunset Hotels. ALBERTO and JUAN were friendly, attentive servers in the breakfast and dinner buffets and really went out of their way to see that we were happy. DORIS ama de Llave kept our room clean and sanitized. LEDA and CATY were great with pedicure and massage, resepectively. ABRAHAM kept me company while waiting for my wife to finish her massage with Caty. And MARIO really went above and beyond the call of duty to see we had the excursions we wanted. Also, evening entertainment was great. One night they did a hip-hop/break dance show on the onsite outdoor amphitheater during our dinner, and it was awesome seeing a show of pop culture of my generation there. The Yacht Party catamaran excursion to Isla Mujeres was fun thanks to the staff of host Roberto, bartender Mikey, the Capitan, and the Marineros. Overall, I would definitely come back to Cancun and this hotel. Muchas gracias, Sunset Royal. See you again!
"October Vacation"
We loved the attention we received from Mr. Danni, Franco and Trisha at the Sunset. They were energetic hosts the whole stay. Very friendly and always sharing smiles for all to see. Sandra took special care of us as well. We took a catamaran to Isla Mujeres. This was priced very reasonably. Many thanks to the Captain, Robert and Mike and the other employees. We were taken very well care of. It was the highlight of our trip. Snorkeling was fabulous and the beach we stopped at had an outstanding buffet and open bar. We were very surprised at the variety of food and that it was served hot. Thanks to everyone related to Sunset Royal.
"Recommending Sunset Royal Beach Resort"
We love the newly renovated suites on the 9th floor and the Special Coffee bar available all day on the 8th floor. We had our lobster dinner one night, Surf and Turf dinner on two nights. Each day started with a divine breakfast and our favorite employee was ROSA FRASCO at the Cocina with her inviting smile and service excellency. Our VIP Concierge, Ana Perez organized our daily dinner reservations, which we enjoyed immensely especially on October 8, 2014, when she arranged a surprised 48th Wedding Anniversary Cake and a special bottle of wine for my sister-in-law and her husband/the Cyrus celebration. She even arranged a wonderful and breath-taking 4 hours yacht ride on Friday October 10 from Sunset Marina Cancun to the beautiful Isla de Mujeres. The beach was very clean and lovely and we enjoyed the beautiful sunrise and daily walks on the beach.
"EXCELLENT RELAXING HOLIDAY"
We had a nice relaxing holiday staying at this hotel.Check in was quick.Jose & Alma at the reception were very helpful,lots of information they gave.Also all the staff including the maid were very helpful.The hotel itself was clean.There was entertainment every evening.The beach was very lovely nice and clean.We would recommend this hotel.
"Wonderful Staff"
Everyone that we met at the Sunset Royal was exceptionally kind and helpful. Our concierge, Monica, was always friendly and outgoing and made a point to say hello to us each time that she saw us. Franco, the "activities guy" was a lot of fun. We kept missing all of his Spanish lessons though. Guadelupe in the dining room was nice the couple of times that we had him, but Rubon was the waiter that waited on us the most often. He was also the most attentive at keeping our drink glasses and coffee cups refilled.
"Great location, good food & service, & a beautiful beach!"
Stayed here w/ my sister and cousin for 7 days and we really enjoyed our time here, the ability to relax, have fun, and enjoy the activities and entertainment. There were various activities to participate in throughout the day, a full calendar from morning to evening, w/ awesome & professional entertainment in the evenings on the resort premises that are well worth it. There is a free water taxi service, across street from the resort, to the sister resort is available and included in all inclusive package. The resort is walking distance to a number of attractions, including COCO BONGO's, Hard Rock, shopping mall, and the city center. The pool is a smaller size pool in comparison w/ other resorts, but the beach is beautiful & property is ocean front.
"Good hotel great location"
I've stayed in this hotel for a week. Check in wasn't smooth. It took a while to do so even there was no Q. Service is good, especially food and beverages team. Very attentive, every request was met. Very helpful and friendly. Franko is a good entertainer. Value for money is great. There was some maintenance issues in the room that needs to be looked at, but that did not effect our stay. Overall it's a nice place. I would recommend .
"Great staff, Great Location, Great Hotel"
Holiday 26th aug 2014 for 10days All inclusive girls holiday, really enjoyed this hotel, Friendly staff ..Favourite has to be Hector the lobby bar man AMAZING cocktails & shots, Orbe the bell boy really friendly made us feel at home & Alejandro front desk from the time we checked in to the min we left he was great, friendly & happy!! Hotel has amazing beach & views, stayed in the twin/double room with balcony.. perfect for us as didn't spend much time in the room, great variety of food, had the option to make reservation for any of the 2 restaurant's or eat in the buffet which you can also enjoy the different Varity of shows at the same time each night. Great entertainment through out the day, if u prefer to stay in the resort. massive variety of food for breakfast, lunch & afternoon snacks!! Perfect location 20min from cancun airport & a 5min walk to the strip where its all happening. (I would recommend NOT to book tours with the hotel, to go down the strip where u can Hagel prices, hotel is a lot more expensive) Amazing holiday, would stay here again for sure!!
"Paradise on the seaside, entertaining on the streetside"
Spent a week at Sunset Royal.The hotel was clean, the service was fantastic, but the people made the place so amazing and the Caribbean sea was incredible.It was bluer than the bluest blue. No 'photoshopping' these images. The water was clean, the beach was safe and patrolled. You could walk for miles and the sand was never hot to your feet because it is made of crushed coral. We lazed in our own beach bed, could have played "all we wanted" beach volleyball but caught up on good books, water fun and afternoon siestas. There was an occasional beach vendor but they were friendly and not persistent. Beach was patrolled and we had a life guard on beach duty every day. however, if you don't want the beach time then the salt water pool was also perfect. Great place if you bring "little ones" but also great if you are "kidless". Ramon was our "go to beach guy". and he took care of us like we were family. Food was delicious,water was very drinkable, night shows were and fun, the hotel has their own outdoor theater with a great show every night. if you want to do a workout...the fitness center and spa are great too. Can't wait to go back.
"Just average"
Our unit was spacious and clean. However, after our room was cleaned, we never had bath towels, hand towels, or wash clothes. Always had to call to get them. Food is very, very average. Lunch choices outside are a joke. You better like hamburgers, hot dogs, and nachos with cheese. Some bright spots, Carlos, a beverage pool/beach server was very attentive! Also Guadaloupe at the inside restaurant was a fantastic server. Very attentive and nice! He has been there for a long time and we always ask for him. The margaritas at that restaurant are the best!
"Perfect Vacation"
We stayed here for 10 days at room 520 and I would have to say Royal Sunset has the best Hotel in Cancun ..Nice location and its close to the beach front.The hotel itself will complete your vacation from the property to the staff..Me and my fiance were satisfied about the service.From the airport pick up till the checkin experience were amazing.I have few peope who stands out went for extra mile for the service.Felix&Jose ,Jose Mayolo,from frontdesk were amazing ,Felix were able to gave us nice room with a view at room 520 cant complain with that..Any request and local information you ask this people were always ready to help you.Shout out to Alex from Concierge who is willing to help and have patience to give us local information..I forgot the name the one on duty at the bar close to the reception at night and sometimes he works in the breakfast buffet that guy is doing an amazing Job.. The SPA ladies made our vacation a very relaxing end.I have Irma &Elvy who has magical hand she will release all your stress..If your looking for a massage theraphist,this two were amazing..Melissa from SPA reception who is always happy and smiling to serve you..Good Job Guys.. Bellboy Orbe is doing a good Job he made sure all your luggage is complete and ready to go.. Housekeeping Staff were friendly too.. Good Job Sunset Royal Beach Club you made our 10 days vacation's perfect.. We left Cancun a happy Guest and arrived Canada with satisfaction.. Untill next year!Good Job Guy's. "We were spoiled!"
We spent one week at the Sunset Royal. We can't wait to go back. The food was great, our room was clean, the staff was friendly, there were fun activities offered for kids and adults, the beach was beautiful and the list goes on. Guadalupe, in the aquarium restaurant, was amazing. He went the extra mile to make our dining experience great. We ate at both restaurants on site and also did the buffet dinner a couple nights. We felt there was a variety of food and entertainment and you couldn't go wrong with any of the options. We enjoyed our vacation and look forward to our next trip!
"Amazing Beach"
We were fortunate enough to spend 4 nights at this resort. The beach was clean, soft sand with the most amazing water. Being from the NE we are not accustomed to such warm water. We spend hours walking along the water's edge and playing in the water. Our room was clean. The restaurants in this location were good. Sammy was above all the best waiter in the Italian restaurant, he treats his clients as if he owned the place. Guadalupe was wonderful in the mornings, always ready with fresh coffee and helpful suggestions. We were disappointed in the sister hotel's restaurant, Sunset Marina Resort. We had dinner there in the Italian restaurant, the waiter couldn't be bothered to help with suggestions, we were served dinner and he never returned. The restaurant wasn't busy, there was no excuse for his lack of attention.
"Wonderful experience"
My family and I spent 2 weeks at the royal and had a great time. the entertainment staff Franco, Danny, Trisha were lots of fun and a real asset to the hotel, they kept the poolside fun with endless activities and always had a smile on their faces. The evening shows provided some good evening entertainment and Mario always welcomed us with a smile and a handshake. This really made our stay more enjoyable and we are already thinking of returning next year. My only downside was that because we stayed there for 14 nights we became bored with the selection of food, it seems most people stay for shorter periods.
"Urbano y Rosalinda"
Urbano y Rosalinda was the best bartender that we encountered on our trip. He was very skilled, extremely knowledgeable about drinks and always had one ready when he saw my boyfriend and I. He was very friendly, very courteous and helpful through out our whole stay. It was a pleasure getting to know him and his service was greatly appreciated. We hope to see him on our next visit!

Roberto was excellent, polite, always courteous and helpful, it was a pleasure having him serve everyday, he always had a smile and already knew what we wanted, he was very attentive in our needs, very quick with all of our services, we will miss him
"Loved Cancun!"
Just returned from a week stay at the Sunset Royal Beach Resort in Cancn! We were on the 9th floor so everything was updated and the view from the balcony was amazing! The elevators are a little slow though.. Even broke one day we were there so we had to use the stairs to trek up to the 9th floor. On our last day, we took advantage of the spa.. My friend & I both got massages (her, relaxing. me, Swedish).. A couple of hours later, my friend had an allergic reaction to the oils they used, she went and asked them what kind of oil was it and if there was anything they can do for her.. They copped her an attitude and said it's an all natural oil and no one has ever complained about it. And sent her on her way. Needless to say, we ended the night after dinner because she couldn't handle the itching.. She wasn't even able to sleep through the night because of it (benedryl & Claritin didn't even help). So negative one star for this incident. I understand allergies happen but the fact that they gave her an attitude about it and wasn't at all helpful or even sympathetic shows me they only cared about the money and not actually about their clients. Went to their sister hotel, Sunset Marina, and took the yacht out for a day & went back the following day to play on jet skis. Awesome experience!

Our favorite employee was Jorge. He was in charge of the lounge on the 8th Floor. When I thought that I had lost my expensive eyeglasses, he looked all over the place for me. (As it turned out, my sister had picked them up.) But, Jorge was very hospitable and professional. It made our stay even more enjoyable. Thank you!
