"Great find! We will come back!!!"
We have had an amazing stay at this resort! Staff is so friendly and helpful. Hotel and resort areas are clean and kept up. Staff are making renovation improvements each day to make the resort even nicer then it already is. Our room (2364) was awesome! We had an great view ☀️. The beach is a little small but nice and sandy in the water, don't have to step around any rocks . They do have a new resort on the south side of fifth avenue (The Reef Resort) and the beach there is very big if that's what you really want. Food was good, a la caters where the best in our option, but I prefer plate service over a buffet any day. We will come back to this or there other resort, great location. This is a smaller more personal resort, so if your looking for resort life this may not be the place, but if your looking for a great relaxing vacation with the treatment of a vip for no extra cost, this is the place for you next vacation to Mexico!
"Again and Again"
We have been coming to this hotel for 15 years. We have seen several name changes. But the staff is still the same. They are the friendliest people I have ever met on any trip that I have been on. It starts with Alfonso (you are the best ever), Victor, and David and ends with the cleaning staff, everyone is awesome. The food is good. The rooms are great. Beds a little hard. It is within walking distance to town. Need to have free WI-FI. The only suggestion I would have is get the pool staff a little more excited they didn't do much for entertainment. We enjoyed meeting new people from all over the world. I cant wait to come back next year.
"Clean! Welcoming! Great value"
This was my first "all inclusive" experience - we travelled with Sunwing. We were greeted with a cold bubbly beverage upon arrival, and warm and friendly service until the moment we checked out. The space was very clean, and you could see people cleaning at all times! As some of the other reviews have mentioned, this is a modest resort, and this is nice, as it allows you to not have to be on vacation as dozens and dozens of other people. There was always access to food, and while every meal had its variables, it was not the strongest feature of the resort. It has a fantastic location; it spills out onto the beach, and depending on tide, that may be a lot or a little. Just a 10 minute walk from the shopping streets of 5th Avenue, you are not far if you want to adventure a bit. There are activity guides on site at the hotel, so if you want to plan an excursion, Alex from Sunwing will steer you in the right direction! There are events all day on site, "crazy volleyball" or bingo at the swim up pool bar. The "fancy" restaurants are nice, and the disco was fun on Friday! I'd go again, and if I'm lucky, I will!
"Great March Break getaway :)"
I went to this resort with my husband and two boys 13 and 16. Three other families went with us. I had read ALL the reviews and was a bit concerned. My boys loved all the food-especially the on demand ribs, fries, hamburgers and self serve ice cream until 2 am. I am a healthy eater and there was lots of variety for me as well. We did not upgrade anything and enjoyed ourselves. The beds were comfortable and we did not hear any noise at night. We had dinner at the Italian restaurant one night only. The cleaning staff was great. My boys had their own room beside ours and their bathing suits and clothes were hung up. Yes, we tipped but didn't feel pressured like some other trips we have been on. Anderson "the Ping pong guy" was terrific and played many games with our boys. The only negative was that the resort profile says that there is beach volleyball and there is not. We did find a court further down the beach though and took advantage of the tennis and pool volleyball. It is a small resort but that was a plus for our group. We will definitely return another year.
"Great hotel"
This hotel was great. Good location, staff worked tirelessly. The food was lovely, omelette station and salmon at breakfast with plenty of other lovely food. The house wine was nice. We couldn't have chosen a better hotel and location. You could walk for miles if you wished. All staff cheerful and worked really hard. Fabulous and would stay there again without a doubt. We had a lovely room with 2 double beds.
"Love this place !"
We had the best time ever ! The staff was always ready to help in any way from the very top to the very bottom ! Very hard working people ...Victor, and Sergio are very nice young men willing to always help or have a smile on their face and they seemed to never go home ....I loved how Victor knew our last name and room number . The staff at the restaurant was out standing and loved the bartender at the disco ! The walk to 5th street was great ... Not one person working there rude,unwilling to help or lazy even loved Bety ! But the topping on the cake was our room 2229 best view hope to stay in that room again ... Soon !
"I did go back in a FLASH."
Back to this hotel this time for 2 weeks from January 23-February 6, 2014. I even brought my better half with me this year. (Went last year with the "lads" on a guys get away). Hotel has been going through some upgrades since last year. From the time we arrived we were both made to feel very special. We were given Room 2309 which has a private deck with hot tub. Our room was on the left hand side (quiet side) and was very clean. Service in restaurants, pool and beach was great. This is a small hotel so has a few less choices at the buffet. We met and partied with some great people from all over the U.S. and Canada. Nice 15 minute walk up to 5th Ave. We spent at least 6 mornings and at least 10 evenings up on 5th. This hotel has one of the best locations if you want to spend lots of time on 5th. The only negative I would say about this hotel is that they need to bring in "FREE WIFI". Most major hotels/resorts offer this and the REEF really should in the near future. I can't wait to return next year.

"From Canada with love"
We just got back from a stay at the Reef Coco Beach. We went with 6 friends and had such a great time. I was pleasantly suprised at how nice this resort was because of some previous reviews before we got there ( although I realize there is no pleasing some people). It was a beautiful resort. The front desk people were so helpful the bellboys were great ( hi victor!) and the rooms were big, clean and most of all the beds were actually comfy ( we have stayed in 5 star hotels and they weren't this good ). Even though we love excursions, when we did stay for the day the entertainment staff had us laughing the whole time ( Anderson and Sergio were so much fun ). The food was the best we have had out of all 5 stays in the Mayan Riveria and the waiters were happy to help you and always with a smile. The beach was great, not to many fish or other sea life there but hey, you can't have it all. It was so nice to go to the town within a 10 min walk or walk on the beach to town with lots to see on the way. So in summary, maybe I'm just not that picky of a person or maybe its was just that great but I would definetly recommend this resort without hesitation. To all those who didn't like it, I have this to say Phfff!
"Wonderful honeymoon"
My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay. Not saying we didn't have a few issues but the staff made this hotel a great place. The beach was stunning, best I saw. The close proximity to 5 th ave was great. The food was amazing. Only draw back was we had to pay extra for the wifi and we needed it so we could talk to our kids at home. Would defiantly return for another stay.

I went with a group of 6 family members and it's safe to say we all enjoyed our selves and have nothing but positive things to say. The staff were all very friendly and quick to assist you. The rooms were clean and always well stocked. The food was good, no one went to bed hungry, lol! The pools were clean and not overly crowded. The beach, while narrow, was clean and almost always had loungers available. No 6AM towel games like at other bigger resorts, yah! The activity staff walked around and tried to include everyone in one event or another every day. Even BINGO games at the pool bar:) While I'm used to having a room safe included, $14 for a week isn't bad. Wish all the rooms came with coffee pots, but we came prepared, and brought along our own instant. Hubby and I stayed on the 3rd floor and had a nice view of the grounds from our large patio. Perfect for people watching:) We did have allot of late night lobby noise in our room, but I'm not faulting the staff. And hey, can't blame the guests for having some fun. All in all, great stay!

The boats in the water at the beach were really cool to see. I enjoyed watching the locals coming and going. This hotel is a short walk to 5th street and there is a lot of security along the way. I will defiantly return to this hotel. It was a great first stay in Mexico!!!

"Great little all inclusive hotel"
I stayed here 11th Jan for 1 week with my husband and friend, We were chilling after BPM festival. good points below: Great location - nice walk to 5th Avenue spotless lovely staff nice rooms lovely pool good food and drinks great value for money some constructive feedback: show started at 8pm and then place was dead after that, need more to entertain guests at night Entertainment Team were lovely but needed some direction and guideance. e.g no one wants to play party games at 11am, they are too tired or hungover. More people would participate if in afternoon. that's just one example, They did try though.
"Perfect size"
Very nice stay and friendly staff. Could use more entertainment, better shopping and more food selections. Luckily it's nice and close to downtown playa, lots to do there. Great place to sit and relax.
""Relax and enjoy in this resort""
This is our 3rd time in Playa del Carmen and we believe the Reef was a great place from the time we arrived to the hotel at Reception desk, the service was friendly and courteous. Only 3 minutes from the beach; walking distance from 5th Avenue, where you could hang out daily. The food and service was good. There were 3 restaurants; we chose the one with all day buffet, with a variety of menus. There were 2 Italian & Mexican restaurants upstairs. We went to the Italian one night but there was only one waiter so it took long to get served. The only thing missing was WiFi, which you could get for $15 per day, but we got it by going to Starbucks at 5th Avenue, where for the purchase of anything, you can use WiFi anytime during your stay. The shows were very entertaining and the amazing dancers. There was also some entertainment for kids after the shows where kids were able to get up and dance, play some Mexican games or Pinata time. Swimming in the ocean water was absolutely the best! We got to see colourful fish the last day and I believe it is worth the trip itself. We felt safe and secure with various Security guards, where you could leave your beach bag at the hotel chairs & not worry at all. Overall we had a great experience and if we were to go back to Playa del Carmen, this is definitely a hotel I would choose again!
"Amazing vacation!"
Great hotel and amazing service! It is all included hotel that close to the 5th street (the central street of Playa) that have all the main events on Playa. The beach is right outside the hotel. The Japanese restaurant there is really recommended, that needed to order place for.

Excellent service, extremely friendly staff, wish housekeeping staff spoke more English as I could not converse with any of them. Excellent food and drink. Too bad about the seaweed on the beach but I understand that is not the resort's fault. In fact, on walking up the beach, I found ours to be the best maintained!

It was beautiful we get the suits that was the nicest place the most amazing view I ever had, the people helped a lot the were super kind I recommend this place 100%! The food was delicious and the have everything that you can imagine they have a wonderful beach and the drinks are some thing really good the make a lot of different kinds of cocktails and the taste is great!! You can always have some food and drinks so you just need to relax and spend the day on your dream vacations!
"Repeat Customers"
We've been to The Reef Coco Beach 9 or 10 times now. We loss count..We always enjoy our stay, and are always greeted by familiar faces. Everything always seems to go along smooth and we rarely have any problems with anything. Our room is always cleaned, and our bellys are always full. It's perfect if you just want to get away and relax...There are plenty of fun things to do at the resort or a short 20 minute walk to town for shopping. See you all again in 2020
