"They were right!"
After reading many reviews and with the great review from our daughter and son-in-law who stayed last may, we decided to do our New Year's at Maroma. For all the great reviews, we have to say they were right. While I see some had some problems, we did not. From the beginning greeting until we left, the service was top notch at all levels. We have stayed at Iberostar Grands and while they are very good, this is better.
The food was very good everywhere; we really like oceana and the seaside grill. The buffet was excellent breakfast, lunch and dinner.
No problem getting Grey Goose or other top notch brands. No watering down of drinks and the mixed drinks were very good. Excellent orange juice. Not like most hotels with the watery sweet juices.
We ate at Portofino on the patio once and indoors the 2nd time. lovely atmosphere in both, great food, great service.
The Japanese restaurant was also fun and the food was presented artistically as well as being good. We did not eat in the Mexican or the French. Next time. We live in Los Angeles, so Mexican food is all around us.
We were In building 25 and Paulina was our concierge. She did a great job and has a bubbly personality. We also had very good help on-line prior to our arrival regarding concerns we had about our room location and what was going on for NYE. It was a little vague about NYE, I guess because of the weather, but it turned out great.
The beach service is very prompt and the beach staff went out of their way to help.
The thing that was so impressive, the hotel had to be about full if not full for that week, and the way the staff handled it all-around, you wouldn't know it was that crowded. It was alittle tough to get a palapa on the beach, but the staff helped out.
We really like the idea that you can eat dinner anytime you want. you don't have to wear wrist-bands and you don't have to report to the towel desk like a child. That works for us.
We travel to Hawaii a lot and for us, Cancun is about the same distance. With the beautiful beach, good food and service, we have to think twice about Hawaii.
We highly recommend this resort and can't wait to go back.
We visited over Christmas week. We were all blown away not only by how beautiful the resort is but especially by the service here. Everyone we came in contact with during the week was friendly and helpful. We had a Preferred Club room #2637 ~ Ocean view and we could leave the slider open and listen to the ocean all night. There was no special pool or beach for preferred club people and believe me, you don't even need to be in the preferred club to feel special here.
The food in all the restaurants and the Barefoot Grille by the pool was excellent. Top shelf liquors everywhere. We never waited to get drinks. Actually, we could see two bars from where we sat at the pool but never had to get up. The cocktail service was incredible!
My absolute favorite thing is that they have a rule that you can not save loungers by the pool for more than 45 minutes in the morning! At most resorts, the guests go out at the break of dawn, take the best chairs around the pool, leave towels and a personal article on the chairs and then don't actually come out to use the pool til noon which makes it tough on people who wait til after breakfast to go out to the pool. We went out to the pool area around 9:00 a.m. and most of the chairs were available! If the pool concierge sees guests reserving chairs and leaving, he will tell them the chairs can only be empty for 45 minutes and then the belongings will be removed. This is awesome! More resorts should enforce this rule!
For Christmas Day, we reserved the private cabanas on the beach! We actually did it two days in a row because we loved it! The cabanas rent for $40 for the day. Reserve in advance and when you get to the beach that morning, your cabana is set up with pillows, beach towels, a newspaper, an ice bucket filled with bottled waters and a sign with your name on it. The beach concierge offers fantastic drink service from 10-5 and you can even order lunch to be delivered to your cabana.
This is the most outstanding resort so far and worth the extra money is costs to vacation there.
"A M A Z I N G !"
Cannot praise enough the quality of service and food received during our family holidays this past week. From the "welcome home" start by the front of house team to the amenities all around the resort...beach service, room amenities, entertainement team, concierge service, everything is tailored to make you feel good.mini golf, hobby cat, kayak, endless cocktails service...live music every evening in the lobby, Hibashi, mexican, french, italian, world class buffet... A fantastic destination with a personalized service throughout. Cannot wait to be back for more
My husband and I spent a week a Maroma Beach and had an amazing time! Being greeted with a glass of champagne was certainly a great way to kick off our week! When we arrived in our room, everything was immaculate and there was an additional bottle of champagne waiting in the room for us. The food was much better than we thought it would be, and we especially loved the Mexican restaurant and the breakfast buffet was incredible. We got a couples massage which was the perfect was to relax after the stressful weeks leading up to the wedding- I highly recommend it! The entertainment staff and bartenders were all so friendly- we loved hanging out by the pool all day as the staff would bring a variety of lunch options to you and your drinks were never empty. One highlight was when we were sitting at the swim up bar and a pair of chefs hopped into a kayak and paddled around offering sliders to guests in the pool! I can't imagine that anyone would have trouble relaxing at this place. We look forward to returning in the future and highly recommend this resort!
This was our first visit to Mexico and we were not disappointed. From the moment we stepped out of the private transfer and the bell boy said 'welcome home sir' things became magical. This resort has something for everyone all day everyday. From fine food to great entertainment and amazing service and staff. There seems to be more staff than guests and all of them are friendly and can't do enough for you with a smile. I have no hesitation is recommending this resort. Tips: book the beach beds before you arrive, do the cocktail making class, plot up in different locations each day until you find a good spot for you. If you can book a swim out room, they are amazing.
We have recently returned from a two week visit. The hotel is excellent!
First class service from friendly, efficient and well trained staff. The food is generally high quality
with the Japanese being exceptional, particular thanks to Jonathan, a very professional waiter and the lady restaurant receptionist with the beautiful smile, who was charming. The front desk girls at the World Caf were always very welcoming and Freddy who looked after us at breakfast (Hi Freddy!) was brilliant. Now to the Beachside Restaurant - Hello Jesus! - best and friendliest service we have ever encountered and we have been to many hotels around the world, we were spoilt every lunchtime.
Our room 2324 was spacious, well equipped and always spotlessly clean. Our concierge was very conscientious and always ready to assist.
The pool area was large, with plentiful sunbeds many of which were well spaced. Pool service was great and very frequent.
The beach was spotless in front of the hotels but past the hotel boundaries it became quite scruffy, with many abandoned properties.
There was plenty of entertainment during the day for the more energetic, however we just went to relax.
We would just like to thank everybody at the hotel who contributed to our relaxing holiday.
We loved Maroma so much during our honeymoon in July that we went back in October for round 2! The staff is outstanding, the drinks are ever-flowing, there are constant activities available as well as ample beautiful space for relaxing by the pool and/or ocean, and the beach in Maroma is the best we've seen in Mexico. Every night the resort provides entertainment (some sort of show) and has its own dance club. Playa del Carmen was an easy 10 min (ish) cab ride and has tons of clubs and fun things to do.
Food was not as incredible as the other all-inclusive resort we stayed at but was still good and there are several restaurant options. No reservations were allowed so we waited about 30 min or so each night for dinner. The up-side was they had a nice lobby with drinks and live music (i.e. guitar and/or piano + singer) where you can wait for your table.
"Even in bad weather, it was a glorious and entertaining place to go for our 25th anniversary!"
Our 7 night 8 day stay was filled with clouds and rain almost the entire trip, but the staff made us forget about the weather (almost! ). From the welcome upon our arrival to the personal concierge for our building to our excursion coordinator Iain from Apple Vacations to our excellente entertainment staff to the variety and quality of restaurants, there was always plenty to do to keep us happy and make the time fly. Sinowe the bartender created a wonderful drink just for us while at the bar on the beach. Fermin, Manny, Jordan, Yanni and the entire entertainment staff worked their butts off to keep us happy and always had a smile on their faces!! The restaurants were wonderful - just needed bigger desserts! - and kept us more than full! The beach is pristine as compared to that of other nearby properties. We would highly recommend this as a great place for an adults only getaway!
My husband and I choose this resort for our honeymoon and it was perfect. It was everything we wanted and more. The staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful. The food was delicious and there was always a wide variety. I tend to be a picky eater and my husband is more adventurous and we both found dishes we loved. We definitely enjoyed the beverages. They carried every brand we could think of and more. The staff made sure there was always a drink in my hand. The pool area and beaches were beautiful. We loved having drink and food service at the pool and on the beach. This resort is the perfect combination of lively and relaxed. We socialized at the pool and enjoyed fun dinners with friends. But I would never say it was noisy or obnoxious. Most couples we met were also on their honeymoon so it was fun to meet new people. I have recommended this resort to two of my close friends and they too have traveled here on their honeymoon. They also had nothing but amazing things to say.
A quick note about the staff: We took a day trip to swim with dolphins and I became ill the next day. The bartender in the preferred club (I wish I could remember his name) noticed I wasn't feeling well and made a special drink for me with ginger root. They go above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. We will definitely be back.
"Fantastic hotel in a beautiful location can't wait to go back!!!"
Just returned after spending New Years at Maroma and can't rate it highly enough. We regularly travel and this was one of the best hotels yet. The rooms are to a high standard and have everything you could ever need we opted for the swim up room and it was well worth it. I normally avoid all inclusive as I am a bit fussy but this was nothing like your average all inclusive there was a really good choice of restaurants and all our meals were fantastic. There is lots to do if u want to and the entertainment team were excellent they kept my husband busy with sports so I could relax by the pool. The staff were friendly and service was 5 star. Overall a really fantastic place can see why it's so popular for honeymoons. Can't wait to go back!
"New Year Vacation"
My wife and I have just returned from a 7-day stay. It is an excellent resort and they do all they can to make you feel extremely welcome. Very attentive staff and, although I'm in my 60's, the entertainment team still managed to make sure we were catered to and had fun. We stayed at the Preferred Club level but I'm not sure that's necessary as the normal run of the resort offers almost the same high standards and quality. The beach is exceptional and we enjoyed long walks on the pristine white sand, the sea is also warm and safe to swim in. We had a Junior Preferred Swim-Out Suite, but would not book this again. I never saw anyone use the "swim-out" facility. I would most definitely go for an upper floor view suite in the future. The restaurants are some of the best I have seen at a Mexican resort and the food quality is 5-Star. We fell in love with the French Bordeaux restaurant with the seafood restaurant Oceana coming a close second. The buffet, which we used for breakfast, is expansive and very relaxing. One little "secret" is the Coco Caf, which is like a Starbucks on steroids! Exceptional hand crafted coffees and decadent deserts or ice cream specials. My only disappointment was the lack of TV channel choice or a pay-per-view film channel, we had a couple of rainy days and this would have been a great relaxation benefit. As this is an "adults only" resort, it is a very relaxing place. We have 7 children, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, so we love kids dearly, but to experience the lack of kids for a week was quite a treat. No demands on us, just the ability to share a precious week together. The resort caters to adults from 20's to 90's, so there is something for everyone. I nearly forgot, don't miss the spa, its a 5-star treat that is well worth a visit. Overall, this place shines and I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you want to take your partner somewhere "special", then this is a place to consider. it is very romantic.
I went to Maroma just about a year ago after a recomendation from family. With the help of Mike from "Dream Makers Vacation Services" I was able to put together one of the best trips I have ever experienced. We arrived to an excellent staff and facility who showed us to a beautiful room. Myself and my girlfriend like to spend alot of time on the beach, so fo us the quality of the beach was super important. This was the nicest beach I have had the privelage to go to. The water was clear and calm and there was no seaweed. Throughout the day the staff would come by and ask if we needed anything and made sure we were happy. At night there were some activities, but not to many allowing you to contiunue to relax if you wanted to. The food was excellent and the staff at the various resturaunts treated us great. Overall it was a great experience and I look forward to going back.
"2nd visit and counting!"
We returned a few weeks ago from our trip to Maroma Beach and already look forward to returning for a third time. First, we need to thank Michael at Dream Makers Vacation Services." We now use their services exclusively and have referred them to our friends and family. It's no extra charge, they do all he legwork, communication is awesome, and they really care about your vacation. You won't regret using their services. As for us, we are seasoned travelers. We have done all-inclusive before this trip ( Sandals (St. Lucia) and Couples (Jamaica)) had an awesome time at both, but stll enjoy this resort better. The trip - The airport was a 30 minute ride, all highway, on a private transfer and the resort is about a mile from the road. We were greeted at the door and told "welcome home" from the staff. We had a Preferred Ocean View Jr. Suite and were golf carted to a private lounge for check-in. I would recommend the preferred suites because you get a private lounge with bar, snacks, unlimited wifi in your room and 24 hour room service.. You also get some additional goodies in the room daily (snacks, drinks). The room was great. Very large, clean and comfortable. The view was awesome. We were on the 4th floor in bldg. 26. We also had a bottle of champagne on ice in our room when we arrived. The food was great. We were happy with the alcohol selection. There is never a shortage of drink options. Service was awesome. Room was always clean, room service was super, and wait staff/concierge were terrific. The best part - Beach. It's perfect. White sand and not a rock to be found in the water or out of it. There were plenty of seats, and always a waitress to bring drinks. The only negative is having to leave. We hope to return very soon. All and all, the trip was amazing. Thanks again to Dream Makers Vacation Services and the staff for making this trip amazing."read less
"Fantastic all inclusive away from the Cancun Hotel Row"
The staff here is second to none. Not only were they professional and efficient; they were always smiling and genuinely seemed happy to be there. I dont know how they did it! From our "Welcome Home" greeting by the bellman and front desk to the pool staff graciously offering to take our bags to our room when we couldn't bear to leave the pool area to go finish our check in (there was a wine tasting and Bingo to attend and we arrived 3 hrs early).
The food was very good vs excellent except Himitsu the Asian Fusion place, (we did not do the hibachi seating) it was scrumptious (sushi, chicken with peanut sauce, wonton dessert). We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Breakfast buffet and Oceana were worth the visit too. Bloody Marys need some revamping :-)
The grounds are meticulous and the rooms were very luxurious and spotless. The pools were fabulous and the beach....ah perfection.
Say no from the beginning to the Timeshare presentation and they will respect your wish to not be bothered about it.
The spa was beautiful, skip the hydro stuff unless you really like that and be sure to take a waterfall shower after your massage.
The only thing I would recommend is another bar somewhere maybe closer to Oceana as the pool bar closes at 6 it would have been nice to have a drink before our Oceana dinner and listen to the waves. Enjoy!!
"Perfect Christmas Vacation!"
My husband and I decided to take a vacation over Christmas and our travel agent recommended this resort to us. This resort reflects the brochures and website exactly and we were very pleased! It was perfectly maintained and cleaned (and I'm very picky) and the service was stellar! The food was actually much better than we anticipated and had experienced at other all-inclusives and our favorites were Portofino, Bordeaux, Himitsu and El Patio. The buffets were huge with tons of choices. My husband likes to eat healthier at breakfast and he had no problems...he also enjoyed using the fitness center each day. We spent most of our time at the beach during the days and it was stunning and perfectly maintained. We also did a preferred club swim out room. We would definitely do preferred club again since it allowed us unlimited access to the spa for hydrotherapy (use of the sauna, steam room, massage pools, etc) and we loved that! Since our swim up room was situated in an area that was mostly shaded during the day, we didn't use it much since it was too cold. If we did a swim out room again, we would want to make sure it was on the sunny side. We were amazed considering how large the resort it, that it was still relaxing and serene and nothing ever felt packed. We will definitely be returning to this resort. Service far exceeded anything we have ever experienced!!!
"Maroma Beach Mexico"
My stay at Maroma Beach was awesome. The resort itself was breath taking. This was our first time outside of Canada and i'm glad it was Secrets who have helped me get the travel bug because we will travel again and it will be secrets who i will choose to make my vacation complete. The service was exceptional, the beach beautiful ,the rooms wonderful, i cannot really describe the beauty of your resort.also at World Buffet Resturant ,a waiter,Andreas went above and beyond with his service. We looked forward to going there everyday and seeing and speaking to him.He told lots of wonderful things about Mexico so much we plan on coming back for a longer stay.Andreas gave us awesome service,he always had a smile and was very helpful in helping us decide on our meals.Again he was an AWESOME waiter. Over all your resort was THE BEST and I will return and anywhere I travel secrets will be my place to go.Thanks for an awesome vacation secrets keep up the good work!
"The best best best"
My wife and I stayed for ten days at the Maroma Beach for the Christmas and the New Year's Eve. It was the best resort we had been. Everything was perfect. The service was the best we've ever seen all our life. The resort is beautiful, well maintened, romantic. At night, the restaurants are all a la carte and thematic. We love the Portofino( italian). We had dinner three times there. The japonese and the SeaSide( steak house) are wonderful too.
Anyway, wonderful hotel and worthing the five Diamond Awards. Congratulations. We had ten unforgettable days at this beautiful resort. We would like to come back of course.
We had an amazing 2 weeks at the Maroma Beach and would highly recommend this hotel!! It is the best all inclusive we have ever been to with the most friendly and attentive staff we have seen and definitely the best food!! Steaks fantastic!! The hotel and its surroundings, including the pools and beach, are beautiful. We would recommend hiring a beach cabana where you will be given a personal waiter and concierge who will look after you all day and all for just $40. All bars served premium branded drinks and the wine was great too. We particularly enjoyed evenings at the Sugar Reef where we met some great people!! The event staff and entertainment was the best we have seen at a hotel so were very impressed. We decided to go to Xei-ha and Xcaret and would definitely recommend to visit both places. With snorkling in Xei-ha in the beautiful and natural aquarium and exploring the eco park and under water caves at Xcaret you will have 2 brilliant days out! We bought these trips as a package which also allowed us to go to Tulum, ruins, and Playa del Carmen for shopping and nightlife. We did not try the spa but heard from others that it was amazing. You can do as much or as little as you want in this hotel and you will have a great time! The only thing that could be fixed is the road leading up to the hotel as it's condition is bad but apart from that there is nothing we could fault! See you in 5 years :-)
""Welcome to your new home.""
That's what they say when you pull up; "welcome to your new home!" Then you are offered a cool fresh towel and escorted to the guest lobby. The front desk is a series of four desk stations, each with two chairs so that you can be seated through your check in process. Upon checking in you are presented with a glass of champagne with a cherry garnish. Everyone is genuinely pleased to assist and meet your needs. Our bellhop was so kind as to not only speedily deliver our bags to our room but also provide us with a quick tour. Our personal concierge (two for each building so they can readily meet your needs) was helpful to assist my husband in making dinner reservations (taken at the Hibachi restaurant) and get tickets to the evening shows. He even made our appointment at the PHENOMENAL spa. We promptly got settled into our room and ran to the insanely clean and tidily kept beach. Seaweed and sea trash at a minimum. They have staff to keep their section of the beach clean. The beach concierge were great at taking orders and quickly bringing you whatever you needed; drinks, water, cool towel, moving free chairs to your location, etc. This resort is a little far removed from the "resort strip" you'll see as you get closer to Cancun. This led to quiet nights; all you can hear is the ocean.
Entertainmet staff was excellent. We spent NYE n the resort and the dinner and party was great.
I can't say enough great things about this property. It far exceeded our expectations and we are already making plans to return next holiday. The weather his time of year is PERFECTION!
Our first time in Riviera Maya... . We're mostly beach lovers and were more than pleased with Maroma Beach...every employee strives to give the best service..smiling people...good food. Best service we ever had. Resort is quiet and peaceful which we enjoyed. The evening shows were quite good...would definitely recommend.
"A Home from Home"
We visited this hotel over Christmas 2013. When you arrive you are greeted by the staff with "Welcome Home", and that set the standard for our 2 weeks. The hotel is set on a lovely beach (although it was quite windy while we were there and the under current in the sea was strong). The pools were always crystal clear and without exception the staff couldn't do enough for you. Our experience in the restaurants was varied, but that was more a case of managing expectations. We could not praise the food in the World Cafe enough. I think most people assumed that because this is where breakfast and lunch is served, that the quality of the meals in the evening would be of a similar standard (good but not exceptional). Anyone who failed to try this venue missed out on a real treat. The molecular / fusion cooking was exceptional. We were also very impressed with the Mexican, French and Seafood restaurants. The others were OK but did not match up to the standards or expectations that were set. It is safe to say that every restaurant was a gourmet dining experience.
Facilities at the hotel were good and we always managed to get a sun bed although if you are too late it can be a bit challenging when the hotel is busy.
There are plenty of lizards enjoying the sun as well as a number of furry inhabitants one of which decided to visit our balcony to avoid the rain.
The only real disappointment was the diving (run by a 3rd party but from within the hotel grounds). The dive (which luckily only my husband did) was a wreck dive and despite 40+ years experience he found it difficult and came back with a badly cut leg and some very bad stings, which he still has although they just look like burns now. He was due to do a second dive on a reef but chose to miss it because of the currents in the water made conditions hazardous. The equipment was also in poor condition and we decided that as I am not as experienced as he is it was safest for me not to dive (unfortunately).
If you want a luxurious break where you can join in with as much or little of the activities as you want, then I would certainly recommend it.
"A great vacation"
All is great at the Maroma. I would like to stress couple of things: the quality and the variety of the activities. We enjoyed especially the bike tour ( thanks to Firmit and Polina) , playing big and table tennis, and going on kayaks trip. The entertainment is also excellent, especially the Pianist Enrique . His music selections were pleasant to listen to and he played them very well. The grand Piano in the main hall should be available though for the guests to use as well. Not only for Enrique to perform on it. The situation with the coupons is deceiving. You actually can not use them as you wish because of the narrow limits for each type of the application of them . Ex. : you are allowed to use $ 10 towards the bottle of wine, or $ 40 for the $ 180 of the spa treatment) Etc. As a result of this policy we had practically all the coupons not used.
The service and the food is excellent. I was there with my grown up single daughter and hoped to find there the activities for the single people. But is was not available. It would be a good idea to have a coffee or a different type of the gathering just for the single people to
meet . In any case we had a great time staying at Maroma over the Christmas time. Special thanks to Mr. Cesar Montoya who responded on my e- mails with the different questions prior to our arrival. Very professional.
Beach Gorgeous swimmable clear
Restaurants ...delicious ..very good food, very good service and willing to adapt to their menus to our tastes.
Service Probably, some of the best service we have had. Every employee was always willing to do anything and everything it took to please us.
Rooms A little bit on the smaller side for a suite, but they were very tastefully decorated and we wanted for nothing.
Pools Clear, immaculate, beautiful and plentiful. I would highly suggest getting a swim up room at this resort, because they are very private and beautiful.
Tips skip the preferred rooms and get a swim up room instead.
There is horseback riding within walking distance at Rancho Baaxel.
Dress for dinner.
Arrange taxi through the hotel.
Good fitness center
To the right of the hotel is a beach where you can walk for miles without any other hotel on that stretch.
If you have concerns about all inclusives, forget about it! Maroma provides a great experience. The room(We got the penthouse), swimming pools, the beach, all very beautiful, clean and just waiting you for relaxing.
The restaurants provide great ambience and the service is very nice. Very good food in all of them. The French one is Top!
The staff are very friendly and try hard to make you feel comfortable.
The gym is well equipped.
They have a great spa. Not cheap at all, but the swedish massage worth every penny. Definitely, well come back again.
This resort exceeded every expectation possible! We went for our 10yr anniversary. Highly recommend the preferred club and a swim out, it is worth the extra money! The staff goes above and beyond anything expected of them. I cannot talk this place up enough! We will be back in another 5 years!! Love it!!
