Food was very good and the activities at the pool were awesome. All the staff and grounds keepers work very hard to make sure you have a great vacation. Will definitely be back next year!

It was a dream in a realty of Pura Vida is called. Great time to go wet season prices are cheap and resort no crowded. Recently came from my stayed. I do recommend a must go. I will see you again soon Villas Sol.
"Beautiful Location"
The views from the balcony in the villa sol hotel was amazing. The staff was incredible. Gilbert helped us plan our excursions which ended up being great. Carlos who works in the activities took us on kayak tours and snorkeling even on his day off. He was really great. The food wasn't the greatest and neither were the drinks. Other then that everything was perfect. Definitely recommend staying at this resort if your going to Costa Rica.
"This Place IS Paradise!"
My husband & I first stayed here last Oct. He hates time share presentations, but some friends had to go & we tagged along. To our surprise, we ended up buying in. Returned for a week last month & we're going again for another week this month. So much to do here ~ sea kayaking, sunset sail boat cruises, deep sea fishing, zumba, the spa & just plain relaxing. And never get tired of looking at that view!! My husband caught a mahi mahi & the chef here (Franklin) was more than happy to prepare it for us. It has been nice getting to know the staff on first name basis & hear about their families. I cannot say enough good things about Villas Sol!!
"INCREDIBLE VIEWS!!!"
I traveled the world, and I found this property to be amazing, the villas were great , the rooms super clean, and the views unbelievable.....
Is an all inclusive resort, the food was great, with a large variety for breakfast lunch and dinner,
Food for every one, meat chicken vegetables salads deserts, in a unique variety.
The service in the restaurants was amazing, they couldn't do enough for you!!
I definitely recommend this hotel to all my friends and co-workers, and for sure I will go back frequently.
There is nothing to complaint on this property!
"Oh Man!"
This resort had everything. gym, swim up bars and most importantly helpful and friendly staff. the staff would be available whenever day or night. the staff in charge of booking excursions really knew where things were and made the trip most enjoyable and took the stress out of looking for things.
"Great place to stay in Costa Rica! Most amazing sunset in the world!!"
We recently went to Costa Rica for the very first time and we're so glad we found Villas Sol. It's the perfect location to take part in everything going on in the area, and believe me there's lots to do! The staff were all very friendly and ready to help us get the most out of our vacation, they shared with us what were the most popular and exciting day excursions to go on and we had a blast on each on they recommended. The food was great with new things to try at each meal - make sure you try the coffee, absolutely the best we've EVER had. And you can't beat the quick shuttle ride to the beach at the bottom of the hill. Our room was very clean and tidy (it had a great big stone shower too!) and looked out into beautiful blue water, green hills and palm trees. This was by far our favorite vacation we've ever gone on. What more could you want from a trip to paradise?
"Great food, perfect mojitos and friendly staff!!"
We really enjoyed our vacation to Costa Rica; the Villas Sol was a lovely place to stay. The food was amazing; fresh and tasty every day. The bartenders kept our drinks topped up too! Gilbert helped us to organize a few day trips at great rates, so go see him for the "deals"! We can't wait to go back...
"Best vacation ever!"
My friend and I went here in the middle of December. It was the best vacation ever!!!! The staff really made the trip. They are so nice and friendly and took care of us so well. Even getting us drinks when we didn't order them :) The resort is amazing and relaxing. I spent so many hours floating in the pool looking over Costa Rica. I came back feeling so relaxed.
Definitely go down to the beach! We had massages on 2 days for only $20 each. We ziplined and did river rafting through the Agency at the resort. Both were great trips.
The atmosphere is great. We met so many nice families and couples and you get to know them well since it is all-inclusive. We will definitely go back!
"Superb ocean retreat"
Wonderful, secluded location right on the ocean shore, very clean premises with small and nice pool, clean and big rooms with generously sized bath tabs, helpful staff, small and cozy restaurant serving good by Costa Rican standards breakfast. The location is also very convenient as a start point for daily trips and excursions to elsewhere in surroundings. Better location than nearby Jaco Beach for sure.
"Villa Sol in December"
My family of 4 stayed at Villa Sol for one week in late December 2013. Our 2 bedroom villa was spacious and clean with a spectacular view. We sat on the patio in the early monrings and watched the monkeys in the trees. All the staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and accomodating. Gilbert, the excursions desk expert, was the most helpful. We took a day trip to Nicaragua, went white water rafting, zip lining, horse back riding, rode ATVs and went on a sunset snorkelling cruise. We couldn't have asked for anything better. Our stay here was great!!
"Good Value for Price"
The views from the hotel rooms are truly spectacular and they are positioned to see the sunsets. Each room has a substantially sized balcony where one can sunbathe, read and relax. The rooms are quite large as are the bathrooms with minimal decor.
We enjoyed the buffet setups for all the meals and found the waitstaff to be friendly and very efficient. A half cup of coffee or water was quickly spied and filled up without having to make any request.
There are shuttles that go down constantly to the beach and the hotel staff are happy to set you up with tours.
We will definitely return.
"Second visit - feels like home now"
The first time we stayed, we were in the hotel section, and this time we had a one-bedroom villa. Both are nice. The privacy of the villa is great, but you have to wait around for the shuttle whenever you want to go anywhere. That said, the view from the villa is outstanding and the lodging is fabulous. The staff are all great, particularly Taylor in the restaurant, and Gilbert, the activities director. We will be back again and again.

"Paradise and Great Diving"
Took this trip awhile and it's still in my mind as the best vacation I've ever been on. We received one of the corner rooms overlooking the bay. What a fantastic view from the balcony! Room was large and well taken care of. Coffee in room was the best I've ever had, not just compared to other hotels. Went diving a few times in the inlet. Better than all my trips to the Caribbean combined.
All-inclusive option allowed us to eat at any time as there was always food available next to the stunning, large and empty pools. Drinks were good too and had a good amount of alcohol compared to other all-inclusive resorts I've stayed at that try to save some money by skimping you of an extra shot or two. Loved waking up to the birds each morning. At breakfast we frequently saw sly birds jump on the table, look around for humans, then take the sugar packets and fly away! Lots of extremely friendly kittens around the grounds and lizards too. For dinners make sure you go to, and tip, those at the fancier restaurant.
Very short walk down to the beach from the hotel though there is a shuttle if you don't want to walk. The shuttle can take some time as it stops by all the houses (which i think are either owned privately or timeshared). The beach is picturesque and all the free water equipment made for an incredibly fun trip. We snorkeled with sea turtles and kayaked through some rapids to a secluded beach in the next inlet over from the one the hotel is on. It even had a path leading up into the rain forest for one of the best hikes I've ever had.
Especially for the price this resort met every requirement. Will be going back in the future.
"Great hotel for a hotel"
My boyfriend and I booked this hotel through AAA and got a great deal. I must clarify that we used the Villas Sol Hotel for a hotel. We spent most of our time off the property doing tours. In that regard, this place was great for a home base. It is an all inclusive so we never had to worry about drinks and food especially breakfast and dinner since most of our tours started during the breakfast hour and finished during dinner. The times that are available for the meals are pretty long, breakfast 7-10 (technically it starts at 6:30 but that is just cereal and toast), lunch 12:30-3, and dinner 6:30-10. Yes there are theme nights and the food in the end is the same but serves the purpose for food if you don't want to have to think about what to eat day in and day out. The hotel room was a nice size with a huge king size bed and big closets. The room came with a safe which was great that we used daily. The bathroom was a nice size, shower only no tub, in our room at least. The view from our room to the bay was beautiful. Yes, like other reviewers have mentioned this hotel is on a hill. However, most of what you need in the hotel is on a level surface maybe down a flight of stairs or two. The beach is less than 5 minutes away by shuttle that runs every 5 minutes at least. You can walk to the beach but again you're walking up and down the hill. All of our interactions with the staff had been great, especially in the the more informal restaurant (there is a formal restaurant in which you have to make reservations to eat there but we never did). We loved Julio who was our shuttle/taxi driver to and from the local town of Playa del Coco and the hotel.

"Survived the earthquake"
I actually started my vacation the week of September and ended in October. I was looking around for a place to call my new second home. I was there for the earthquake ...my first and only one. What an experience! Costa Rica suffered very little damage...they build well for that type of thing. Our two bedroom two bath with living room and kitchen opened from both bedrooms and the living room onto a huge patio deck with a fantastic view of the ocean. Lots of steep inclines so you can get exercise or call for their intra resort rides. I loved this resort and all of Costa Rica. No wonder I want to move there. Massages on the beach are good as well. I loved waking up to see the howler monkeys being noisy in the trees.
"Sunsets and More"
Arriving at Villas Sol Hotel and Beach Resort about an hour before sundown gave us plenty of time to find our room, get settled a bit, and then step out to our balcony and watch an orange filled sunset that was breathtaking (got to see this two different nights!!!). Rooms were fine, food was good at the restaurant (especially the choices at breakfast). Shuttle service runs every 15 minutes so it's always easy to get places. Staff was cordial, most of the time asking if you needed anything. About 45 minutes from the Liberia International Airport.
"Loved it!"
Stayed at this resort with my 22 yr old daughter July 8 - 15th, booked very last minute & first time to Costa Rica. We have stayed at many all-inclusives in the Caribbean and are not overly fussy travellers...always take the good with the bad. We stayed in a super saver villa, a/c worked great, room was modern & we drank from the tap (which is a first time for us). Gilbert, the main concierge of the resort was fantastic when we needed stuff or asked for some advice...always smiling & friendly! Meals were good, in comparison to other resorts we've stayed at, a different theme every evening..and lots of variety. The whole property is non-smoking, except for in front of the hotel...which was actually good for me as I cut down a lot! Bars shut down at 10 pm, which we're not used to...but didn't really bother us on this trip as we made our way to Playas Coco several evenings..a 15 min cab ride for $15 pp each way, but if you find a local taxi when returning home, they will take you for $10 pp. Playas Coco is a fun little place to go...happy hour at most bars are from 11 to 7 (we liked Zi's) and lots of flea market type shopping...which my daughter appreciated. Also a little casino, which we ventured in to..a little different though..every time you want to cash out at a slot machine, the attendant has to give you the money..instead of just using the ticket in another machine.
We did two excursions...the boat tour seeing monkeys, crocs etc (can't remember the name)..I had brought a banana with me and the tour guide used it to lure the monkeys in the boat..which was a thrill for us, the monkeys were climbing all over us! Croc came right up along side our boat too...I could reach out and touch it (obviously didn't). Also the mega combo tour was fantastic...zip lining, 1400 ft waterslide through the jungle, lunch, horseback riding & hot spring spa. Normally it cost $135 pp, but we got it for $85 for sitting through a presentation at the resort. I also had a wonderful massage at the resort spa (Ingrid is fantastic!) and my daughter had the pedi spa...which was like an hr & a half! Totally recommend going there...treat yourself! Not expensive either..especially if you do the presentation. There is two pools there...larger one with swim-up bar & smaller quieter one...we enjoyed the smaller one...mainly because it was cooler & more refreshing. The larger one was as warm as a bath...and more action & music. Our views were excellent both from our room & from the restaurant..we usually chose to sit on the balcony.
Well..that's it in a nutshell. Would definitely go back! The Liberian airport is also the most modern airport we've been to in all our travels to Caribbean islands & Mexico
"AMAZING View"
No matter where your room is located you will always enjoy the view!
My husband and I stayed here in 2008, we had an absolutely amazing experience it was WORTH THE beautiful scenic RIDE!
The restaurant had GREAT food, the servers went above and beyond for us - they were extremely friendly people!
My husband is not a beach person, but loved the beach the resort is on, very beautiful indeed!
Of course my husband who never burns fried his skin (he never knew what a sun burn felt like until the end of the night, lol). No matter what time of day/night there is always a shuttle to pick you up from the beach and drop you off near or in front of your room. The rooms are high up on a cliff we always had door to door service which was nice to have!
We went on the AVT excursion which was memorable to say the least. Making a long story short my husband said next time I am to stay on the beach while he ventures off do to me panicking, almost crashing onto trees and having to leave my AVT in the wilderness while I rode on his AVT which was very uncomfortable for the both of us, but I felt safe!
"Pura Vida at Villas Sol"
We stayed in the Villas. This was a return visit for us and we must congratulate Alex and all of his hospitality staff. The food, both quality and variety, has greatly improved. The staff were very responsive to special dietary requests. We were disappointed that the Villas had mandatory all inclusive fees as we do like to cook occasionally and some tours were all day.
This visit we had 15 family members with us. There was lots to do for all. We especially loved the sea life. Cruising, we saw sea turtles and dolphins. Snorkeling, we saw a great variety of mating life including rays and octopus.
Our kids had a sunset wedding on the beach. It was beautiful! The staff attended to the details to make this such a great location for a destination wedding.
Gilbert was our primary contact. He attended to all old vacation needs. The staff at Villa Sol are amazing. They exemplify "Pura Vida"!
"Very nice resort"
Had reservations about hotel after reservations were made due to some reviews I read. Read food was not up to par. No selection, but let me assure you, the selection was amazing. The food was delicious, large variety, different menu each night. Breakfast also was a delight. Huge selection! Staff were ready to assist. They have an excursion desk with staff that's ready to help. Dawi, (not sure of spelling) was an excellent tour specialist. He went out of his way to make sure we got the tour we wanted and helped us with anything else we needed to make sure our stay was enjoyable. Thank you again! Beach is not really walking distance but hotel tram takes you there in less than 5 min. Once on beach there are guides that will take you snorkeling on their boat for 20.00 a person. We took advantage of that one day and truly enjoyed it. Rogelio, was very attentive to our desires. You might want to look for him on beach. Oh! One last thing, the excursion you want to take is Mega Combo. It was amazing!!!
