As a seasoned traveler having stayed at more then 25 resorts in the Caribbean area, I'm comfortable in reporting that the Melia Caribe Tropical was one of our top resorts. Restaurant and food options were all excellent. The food was some of the best we have had in our travels. My wife and I are comfortable in grading this resort as one of the best resorts we have stayed at. Simply an excellent trip, some of the friendliest professional staff.

I can not rave enough about this resort. The beach is spectacular and the hotel is amazing. Everyone was so friendly. We feel like we have never been waited on like this in our life. They have 7 restaurants and the food is amazing. I cannot recommend Bookvip.com enough!

"Fantastic Resort, take it from someone who has been there 11 times"
Just getting ready to check out now and had a few extra minutes to write a review. I always say I am going to write one and never do since we get back to our lives in the US and it becomes a memory. So here it is. This property is fabulous! beautiful beyond description with all the beauty of the beach, pools, landscape etc. The best part of this resort is the people!! 100% if you have very basic knowledge of Spanish it will be helpful. If you do not have children you MUST go to the LEVEL adults only, if you do not mind children and you want a more VIP experience go to the LEVEL family suites area where you can get the largest most luxurious rooms. I would not recommend the "tropical side" as it is always dead and boring. I must recognize the stand out employees you should ask for: First and foremost, Eddy Sambo and Pablo Garcia are very experienced VIP Major Domo personal concierges, they will take care of your every need. these gents only provide service to those in the LEVEL or VIP areas so BUY THE UPGRADES. I also want to recommend the spa, I got a massage from Luis Aquino , this guy has hands of gold, fixed my sore back right up. Best massage I ever had. everyone from the bartenders, Jose Flores, and so many others Servers Melvin Guerrero, and my favorite driver eddy on the VIP side were all so friendly, and Thomas Dreft who always is there for us. Also my most favorites Yeifrid Ogando at the VIP reception so nice to us during our stay. All the staff makes this place the best, this is the main reason why we come year after year. we cannot say enough about them. I am a culinary trained chef and let me tell you the food is EXCELLENT. I think they may have made some management changes as the food has greatly improved. Especially the food on the new LEVEL side is top notch. Never a complaint, and I am in the restaurant business in NYC. Great value, great staff, great amenities, great food, great ambience, its all here!! Melia is a fantastic place, BUT you MUST take the UPGRADES, DO NOT BE CHEAP! tip the staff and you will get everything and anything you need. One note to Melia executives, it will be time soon to remodel the VIP suites.
"Melia Caribe. The Level Adults Only"
This trip was by far one of the best we've been on. Private check in, and butler to explain what the resorts offers. The Adults only resort is amazing, extremely clean, amazing staff, amazing food. Always available chairs at beach and pool. Well worth the price and we will go back to this paradise. Was also surprised when went to supper at the Melia Caribe Tropical International buffet, the food was excellent and a lot of choices staff was great. No need to reserve any restaurants as the Level becomes in the evening the Quatro. You have one section that is buffet only, other is Peruvian, Italian and Steak house again no reservation required as this is Adults only. You are still entitled to 4 a la carte in the Melia if you choose so. If you go shopping on the beach, watch out for the sellers they expect you to go in every little store. Do not buy the bagged Mama Juana. Item not allowed in Canada you can only buy it premixed.
"Great experience"
I stayed here in Sept of 2013 and it's was absolutely amazing. The weather was beautiful, the good was good and I like all the choices. Make sure you get reservations the day you get there or a head of time for the restaurants. The staff was exceptionally greatS the respond with precision and grace. I recommend paying more for the VIP-- it's worth it all. The VIP side has better Venus, pools and alcohol. I would stay again!!!
"An unforgettable experience!!"
We had an amazing time at the melia caribe tropical!! We upgraded to the Level, and not only was our room beautiful, but the service was unmatched. Our butler, Danny DeLeon, made us feel like we were his top priority during our stay, which is commendable given his many guests. The food was delicious everywhere we ate, from the buffets to the various ethnic restaurants. I highly recommend this resort, and we will definitely be returning!!
"Great time, great service"
The Melia was our first all inclusive vacation and now I will never do a non all inclusive vacation again. The place was ginormous and very beautiful. From what we heard our room was one of the few yet to be renovated and I really didn't see any room for renovation. Very comfortable and spacious rooms. It's a very big resort but there are trains running throughout the place that get you from your room to the lobbies, restaurants, bars, beach, and pools. There is entertainment at night which is really fun to watch. Plenty of things to do like the outstanding beach, pools, and casino. Service was phenomenal. Square lounge bar is by far the best bar on the resort. Rigoberto Castillo is the best bartender and one of the coolest guys I've ever met, so if you are trying to have a good time look for him. Definitely recommend this place for anyone, families, couples, or groups of friends. We will be visiting again!

"Coming back!"
Great vacation! Upgrading to the level is worth the money, so you can get the dinner reservations with ease. Split accommodations ( one room adult level and the other family level- one child under 18) and it worked out fine. The pool and restaurant at adult level were superior, both were lovely. Keep in mind every price quoted in the DR is negotiable. Introduce yourself to Ray Soto at the VIP lounge....she makes your stay just a little more special. Came home relaxed...mission accomplished!
"Worth every penny"
Second time at this hotel, it has only gotten better since the last time back in 06. Amazing staff all around specially the girls at the child care center, very professional and creative, food and amenities top notch.
"The best resort...Ever"
We just returned from our 2014 Vacation in Punta Cana. We stayed at the Melia Caribe Tropical. From the time we arrived at the hotel..the service we received was EXQUISITE!. The resort is so beautiful and ALL of the staff were very attentive to each and every need (or desire) of all the guests of the hotel. The Dominican people are beautiful people inside and out. The food was amazing, the hotel rooms were extravagant. All of the staff were memorable, but Ruth Lebron, Isaura Garcia, Hector Poulina, Arileido Seberino made our stay worthwhile and made this destination worth returning to. We will see you guys next year!!! Love all of you guys!!
"Great trip and beautiful people"
We just came back from a wonderful trip with my family. The weather was tremendous. The resort is beautiful and the people make it the best. Gladys Batista assures all is well and there are no problems. Nadine, Bryna dn Zairy check in with you each day to see if you need anything. Ramon, Franky and Juan make sure the meals are perfect. Pablo takes care to give you the extra TLC and drive where you need to go and prepare that special bubble bath for the girls. This is surely my home away from home.

From the time you get off your bus at the main lobby (resort is tremendous) we had Level Adults only - they tag your luggage take you over in golf cart to concierge office at Level you are seated on sofas brought a drink someone checks you in you are assigned a so called butler that does everything from dinner reservations to whatever, this office is 24 hours opned, computers etc., the rooms and service is excellent, pool and beach great private no children drinks flowing all day and buffet opened all day weather beautiful - stayed 7 days 6 nights - will do 7 nights next time - Melia Caribe Tropical way to go and will try other locations of resort in future
"Best Service"
I never write reviews, though I love tripadvisor because I find all the reviews very accurate. However, I feel the need to write a review about the service at the Melia Caribe Tropical in Punta Cana. We stayed at the Level, which is the VIP section of the hotel and I have to say WOW. I was really impressed about the service in this section of the resort. Specially Rodolfo del Rosario, one of the waiters at the Gaby restaurant. In general, all the waiters and hostess were really professionals, they never say NO to any additional request you have, they were courteous and well trained. I have to add to this that I work in the retail industry and working with customers every day I know how important it is to satisfy the customers, and they definitely do a great job at the Level in the Melia. The food at the Gabi was the best, tough we eat in others restaurants in the resort, the food at the Dominican restaurant El Guarapo was also good, but we preferred Gabi most of the time. The beach is nice, with a lot of space, not crowded, but I seen more beautiful beaches. The sand is white and the water really nice to swim. Finally, keep in mind this is not a party hotel, if you are looking for relaxation then I would definitely recommend it, but if you are looking to party I'd say go to Cancun!

Very nice experience. Our room was near the beach and pool, as well as the breakfast/lunch building, which made it very convenient for us to wake up, walk to breakfast, and then straight to the beach. The food was also better than I expected on the buffets, and the dinners at night at the various restaurants were always good. Our all inclusive vacation was very good for the price we paid.

You won't be disappointed at Melia Caribe. The staff our very friendly and inviting. Everyone works as a team to ensure you are completely satisfied. The resort is beautiful! The night life is amazing and the food is to die for!
"Great Vacation"
I could not get over how great the personalized service was during our stay. Our concierge Adonis treated us like family. Always asking if there was anything we need or anything he could help us with to make our stay better. He made our dinner reservations and provided us with transportation whenever it was needed. We especially loved our time at the Gabi pool and restaurant facility. The waitstaff at both places was exceptional. I saw a few reviews mentioning pressure for timeshare presentations. We were never approached by anyone while on our trip. I am telling you, everyone there was so helpful an pleasant. The grounds were beautiful and our room was great. I also want to mention Santo and Ramone who worked the beach area. They took care of everything whenever arrived at the beach. I can't reccomend this resort enough. Thank you to everyone!
"The Level @ Melia Caribe Punta Cana"
My fianc and I decided to go on vacation to punta Cana and our travel agent suggested Melia Caribe The Level. Words can not explain how amazing this resort is. Our room was exactly how we imagined it and more. The food was delicious but the most amazing part of our vacation was the resort staff. Our resort supervisor was David and he did above and beyond to make us feel special and at home.

Our second stay at Melia Caribe Tropical, this time we upgrade to the Level...The best $300 I have invested!!! Rooms are def the same as the regular rate, what makes the difference THE SERVICE!! Rosaura was our service person, she did an excelent job, was on top of everything, never missed a detail!! Gracias Rosaura, que pena no tengo su apellido (our room 4123) The pool, we definetely missed our friend Ubaldo at the family pool by the kids club, however Ramon Solano and his friend by the pool did everything to make us feel comfortable, we flew with 3ys old and 10 yrs old, we all had a blast,. Gabi's restaurant had Lobster all you can eat everynight, is also have Peruvian Lomo Saltado, a dance group came over to perform, Bladimir Cipriani our server did an amazing job. We also want to thank Margarita Silvestre at the VIP Lounge, she is a great customer service rep. Again Melia Caribe Tropical have everything that you need, our vacation was one of the best
"The level"
It's worth to stay in the Level, a private area, just adult only, you have own private beach here, the service is great, many restaurant options. Our butler, Samuel, he is very nice, take care of everything, even arrange carriage and beach dinner for us!!! It's a wonderful experience stay in the level, I'm gonna miss here so much:)

Excellent Experience is the new name for Melia Caribe Tropical, my family and I had one of the greatest vacation experience at this beautiful hotel. If someone visit this hotel make sure you visit GABI restaurant, there Mr. Sandy Santana make sure you and your have a great service he is one of the best, God what a great people they make sure you have a great vacation. Excellent Hotel.
"Great vacation!!"
We were just there in July for the first time. Everything at this resort is top of the line. The food was great and the service was outstanding. The staff is very helpful and there for u at all times. I must mention two people in particular Andrios De Jesus our butler and Dulce Garcia who was the server at the pool. They made my stay there to say the least PERFECT!! You must go VIP!
"Amazing and Unforgetable experience!"
From the first night I was having fun. All the entertainers and dancers were amazing! Kept my whole family with a smile on our face! Edwin and Lairon were by far best entertainers and dancers. The hotel was very clean, services was amazing, the pool and beach were beautiful. The pool bar had amazing service also Julio Baez, Ubdldo, Ysrdel, fany, and Felix they all learn drinks you like it. I am definitely coming back again!
