Best Western Sweetgrass Inn

My husband and I went on a cruise for our honeymoon. We left out of Charleston. We searched for places to leave our car for the week. We looked at the port parking and it was going to be $116. That meant we would have yo drive down the day we left for the cruise. I started looking at hotels and Best Western had a park and sail plan. For $125 we were able to stay the night before the cruise have breakfast and park the car for a week. That also included transport to the port. I called them before booking to ask questions and they were so helpful. They were also very nice when we got there. I would definitely recommend this hotel, especially for cruises.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was clean and well kept. We brought our pet with us and stayed in a pet-friendly room. There was plenty of outdoor room to walk our pet and pet-friendly areas. We were missing something in our room, but it was supplied within minutes by friendly staff. All of the employees were very talkative and friendly with us. We spoke with others at our continental breakfast that stayed with the hotel often and they stated that they never stay anywhere else while in the Charleston area.

This was one of the nicest hotels. Comfortable beds and room. Nice and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast buffet with hot items. Would really recommend this to anyone. We were very welcomed even with our dog. The value was amazing and they did not even charge us a pet fee!

Felt very safe in leaving our car parked there while on our cruise. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Within walking distance from a great BBQ place. Can't say enough good things about this place. Glad we found it.

I work onilne and travel a lot. Many times I am working in hotel rooms. The setup of the room was perfect! Also, the room was clean, staff nice, good value, and drive-up outside entrance. The location was good. Close to downtown, Folly Beach, and the Citadel. I would definately stay there again.

Have stayed here twice (soon to 3X)and each stay gets better & better. I've asked for directions to certain shopping venues & the front desk person printed them out for me----how helpful. Asked for additional towels from housekeeping and they appeared immediately. Lovely breakfast room (indoors & out). Beautiful swimming pool. Hotel personnel cannot do enough for you. Bathroom was spotless. Bed was as comfortable as home. Great pillows. Refrigerator was a REAL plus. No negatives!

My husband had made reservations at a very well respected B&B in Charleston over the weekend of October 5, 2013. Long story short: they didn't have our room even after we had called to let them know we were heading up there and would be about five hours away. My husband was so upset because this was the very first time I was available to get away from work for our anniversary and he knew he had made the arrangements and was so upset about letting me down. All the rooms in the area had been booked and Sweetgrass Inn had two left. Not only did Maria understand our dilemma but she helped us out with the room rate and saved our anniversary. Although we weren't able to make our dinner/dancing reservations, which were certainly no fault of hers but the 'lovely' B&B's, Maria had smoothed out the rest of the evening for us and I can tell you right now that customer service trumps a fancy room any day of the week for us. We will remain loyal to The Sweetgrass Inn and will never stay anywhere else from now on. Thank you for making our weekend, Maria!

We spent our 26th wedding aniversary here. This was one of the best hotels we have been at, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good. The pool was better than going to the beach to just relax pool side and jump in to refresh. My wife and I will be back here in april for our get away from the winter. She already wants me to plan and book the room. The experience was great. The palm trees really were nice to sit under on a hot day. It really is a Beautiful place to stay.Thank you for the get away.

A group of 4 couples stayed 1 night here. Over the years Best western motels have not been the most desirable places to stay, but we took a chance on this place, for one reason because they offered free parking while we were on a cruise. (Parking is included in a special price, well worth it, not sure about that part and I don't want to quote something wrong) The room was clean, and our bed was surprisingly comfortable. Might have been a new mattress but it reminded me of the beds in Mariott. Lots of pillows are important to my husband and he was very happy. Breakfast was the typical continental and there was plenty to eat. Linda the breakfast lady was very pleasant and helpful and made us feel welcomed as did the rest of the staff. Staff was friendly and courteous as well as extremely helpful and professional. We really appreciated Monique she handled our questions and made our visit a pleasure. The room with a refrigerator and microwave made it easy for us to make some of our own food. The complimentary breakfast was great as well as the woman who was the hostess in the breakfast room. All in all a great hotel with a great location would definitely stay again if in the area.

I stayed at BW:sweet grass inn this past weekend. The staff was very friendly to me, and I was able to check in several hours early instead of driving around the city and waiting. The room was very clean an the bed was VERY comfortable. The shower was surprisingly powerful as well. As for the location, while it wasn't the prettiest part of Charleston, it was very close to everything. 15 minutes to the airport, 15 minutes from downtown.

We have always been very pleased with this hotel and have recommended to family and friends...most recently for a wedding party. The pool is outstanding...very large and exceptionally clean. We love the upstairs room as they are high vaulted and given the sense of big space. Staff is always delightful and breakfast has always been great...very clean and well maintained breakfast area.

I enjoyed my stay here and the courteous staff was very helpful also. I recommend staying here to everyone. Really great location and close to everything that I needed to get too. Very nice and clean rooms and staff was very neat and well mannered..

Very nice place to stay while in Charleston, rooms were clean and attractive, the shower had strong water pressure and we had our dog with us and this hotel was very pet friendly. I will stay there again when I am competing in my next Agility Trial, the location was very convienent to the park!

This hotel was a wonderful find. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We were traveling with our 2 dogs and were given a "pet friendly" room but there was absolutely no evidence of previous furry guests (odor, hair, etc.) - which in our experience is somewhat unusual. Most of all, we appreciated the hospitality of the staff. Everyone was extremely gracious and friendly. We would stay here again (pets or no) in a heartbeat.

Well stayed here again been a few years when we was last here its still the same good service ,nice rooms, great pool, good breakfast bar ,staff very helpful,3miles to Charleston ,fuel station across the road ,the road outside gets busy but i had no problem in or out..will stay again if ever we come back to Charleston.

Very nice place to stay especially if you have a pet, Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was done very nice and clean. Best shower I have seen in a hotel in a long time. I liked the ice machine also, you have to use your room key for it to work, prevents others from emptying the machine. Only thing I wish they had, as this is a very historical city, was a concierge available to assist with things. Will stay there next time even w/o one !!

I really enjoyed this stay it was perfect for a quick nights stay. The room was very spacious and it was 4 of us in our group. Check in was easy they already had the paperwork ready and the rooms assigned. The waffles at breakfast were the icing on the cake.

We weren't expecting much, and I was dreading the bed. Much to our surprise the bed was very comfortable and we had a very good nights sleep. They said they had a continental breakfast, but I would call it an extended continental. They had hard boild eggs, make-ur-own waffles and pancakes. It was the first time I saw the pancakes anywhere. They had the other usual breakfast items as well, including fresh fruit.

This is a great place to stay close to downtown Charleston. The landscaping at the hotel is beautiful. The room was clean and fresh with a very comfortable bed. I loved the breakfast that was included with the room price. The staff was very helpful with all my needs. I hightly recommend this hotel.

Very Good! At this price point, the BW Sweetgrass is a very sweet find. This is a good deal in the ever-popular Charleston. Good service as well. Driving up and parking near the door is a plus, not a throwback. In the ground floor of main building, the beautiful quintessential Charleston landscaping with lantana, palm trees, and jasmine that is most commonly found downtown is just outside your window. The floor-to-ceiling windows add to the experience in the older building. The upstairs in the older building gets you vaulted ceilings, though the bottom floor adds convenience with the similarly nice views and spacious rooms. The back building is not bad either. The room size is identical; we were able to experience that through a brief mix-up in smoking preferences requiring a room change. Just a few rooms are reserved for the surviving smokers on the planet. It is sometimes possible to actually get a pet-friendly smoking room. Imagine that, both you and your dog can be inside! Though it was clearly not a brand new property, I did not find it dated. Excellent mattress and nicely furnished! Nice breakfast room and lobby, even outside garden seating for breakfast. Not one but two dog walk areas, means that you and your dog actually get a short walk. One area is shared with the Sleep Inn next door, as the hotels are side by side. The manager paid us a personal visit to assess our satisfaction. The four-lane Savannah Highway US 17 is really not a big deal, just wait on the nearby light to turn. The lobby, breakfast room, and offices block out the noise. The drive to downtown is short. Lastly, the pool really is fabulous. Modern hotels seem to shoehorn this amenity in to their geography. Best Western Sweetgrass is built around it!

The Best Western Sweetgrass Inn was very clean, comfortable and the staff was very courteous and helpful. The yards were manicured and the pool was very inviting. Our TV was not working in the beginning. However, Johnny of the maintenance department had it going in two minutes. This was at 9;30 pm. I would definitely stay here anytime that I am in Charleston.
