Written Review

"Awesome experience"
This was our first time in Puerto Rico for my birthday and I could not have been happier! The room was amazing(red lvl jacuzzi ocean front), the staff was beyond pleasant and accommodating. Joshu was hilarious...he really took care of us. The beach and resort were beautiful. Check-in maybe took 10 minutes...yes there is a resort fee but we knew that as most do. The onsite restaurants were pricey but the staff will recommend places if you ask and none of their recommendations were disappointing! We almost didn't stay here because of the reviews but I'm so glad we did! We plan to go back soon and hope it will be even better! The only con was the in room WiFi and cable weren't working too well...but reception was good near the pools and lobbys. I highly recommend renting a car and having GPS.
"A memory comprised if good service, great food, and fantastic accomodations"
This was truly a really good experience. It was my first time experiencing this resort and the Melia product. The staff are truly professionals. The restaurants are all very clean, variation in selection of food, and always eager to please. The private pool area is a great plus as no children are allowed. The beach is very quiet and relaxing.
"fascinating"
Went for a 3 days getaway I could not have been better. From property structure, to the Asian restaurant Nami, and great service specially from Jose Pereira made this mini vacations a very pleasing one!
"Great of you want to relax"
My husband and I came here Aug 8th and we leave on the 13th. The place is beautiful but not sure if I would come back. Pros: it's beautiful, the rooms are nice, luquillo beach is 15 mins away a long with many authentic places to eat. Cons: Food is soooo expensive, right outside the hotel you can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had a huge ham, egg and cheese sandwich for $3.50. It was delicious! It was a loaf of their bread called pan sobao. Don't buy their tours! Too expensive! We went with Carabardi a company that's very close and we did the AtV's for $65 vs $199 at the hotel. You can also Google the tours want to go on and pick local companies. They are great, nice and legit and Cheaper!.lol.... things that didn't matter but would have been great to have was a working fridge in the room. We couldn't put drinks in it to keep cool. The sink in the bathroom drained really slow, the tub was big but not appealing to sit in. Lastly, the only night entertainment is at the bar where they play music and a few people dance other then that there is nothing going on.
"Delightful"
Took my teenagers on a surprise trip before school started. I was a bit nervous about the property after reading all the reviews - we could not have been happier. The property was stunning, we stained in a red level family suite with kitchen and two full size beds. The room was tight but well appointed. We had plenty of towels and ice. The food and drinks were expensive but very good and no different in price than eating on any other continental US property. We highly recommend the breakfast Buffet included in the Red Level club. It took a bit for us to slow down to what we referred to as "Island time" but we found everyone truly helpful, courteous and eager to please. We used the gym daily, loved the pool and our massages at the spa. Excursions are not that expensive, especially if you rent a car. Highly recommend surf lessons with Bob in Luqillo, he had both kids up and surfing within an hour! We walked from the surf beach to the #60 food stalls on Luqillo Beach - #20 makes a great pia coloda and excellent food. Get into vacation mode and enjoy - we did!
"Our favorite spot"
Had a short family vacation right before school started. My teenage kids enjoyed the swimming pool even when it doesn't have any water slides like other hotels. It is so big you have enough areas to enjoy. Had a lot of fun taking the aqua aerobics/zumba classes. The restaurant around the pool offers more variety than other hotels where we have stayed. Several restaurants on site but our favorite is Pasion. Exquisite flavors and fresh seafood. Villa are quite comfortable and clean. A family of 5-6 can easily stay in a room. Hotel personnel is very helpful and facilities provide enough space to relax at any hour. Definitely a place we all enjoyed and we'll like to go stay again.
"July 21st"
I booked through Priceline.com and had no idea about the resort and its' amenities. I was pleasantly surprised. The grounds are beautiful with restaurants, pools, gym, spa, golf cart service to-and-fro and a beautiful view of sand and water.
"great place for couples looking for some R&R"
me and my wife stayed there from August 1 to the 5 and we had a wonderful time we upgraded to red level and it was trully worth it the breakfast was amazing and the food at Passion was good too. Reuben and the bartender at red level vip pool was really nice and accomdating. the manager on duty on the evening shift was a really nice guy he saw that my wife was being bitten by the mosquitoes and he actually went himself and get her some bug spray (how cool was that). will def revisit in the future.
"Loved this resort"
Had a great time staying here. Lovely property. Kind of far from old san juan, but the resort amenities made up for it. Rooms are spacious. The pool is great but the beach is very artificial and kind of rocky. Would stay here again.
"Beautiful resort"
We vacationed here with our 2 children, ages 10 and 13, and had a great time. This was our second visit to the resort. The resort is beautiful! The main pool is very nice and the poolside grill has excellent food. Our favorite thing was the quiet areas along the beach with plenty of hammocks and beach chairs to relax in. The breakfast buffet was great with plenty of foods to choose from. Our only complaint was the check in process. There were around 10 guests in the check in line ahead of us and we waited in line for 2 hours.
"The best Hotel ever!!! In love with the hotel and service"
The best Hotel ever!!! In love with the hotel and service, I absolutely return to stay here, Is beautiful and the client service is amazing!!! I really satisfied with amenities, services overall hotel. Recomendad 100%
"Red Level Experience"
My fiancee and I originally came to Gran Melia to tour the property in our search for a wedding venue. We were blown away when we saw the size of the property and how maintained and beautiful the grounds were. Two days later, we loved the place so much that we decided to stay at the resort for a night. We wanted to get a feel for the resort and get the whole experience so we could determine if it was not only a great wedding venue for us, but a great resort for our guests. We were shocked to learn that we were upgraded to the Red Level status (thank you Joel Hernandez!)and ocean view room for our stay (talk about getting the whole experience!). We stayed in room 1907 and even though we checked in late, the view from our room to the ocean was incredible. The beddddddd, my goodness, I need one of those in my house! It was the best night sleep we both ever had! Needless to say, once we woke up in the morning, we decided to extend our stay another night. In doing so, we were able to experience the complimentary breakfast (which was delicious), gain access to the Red Level pool, and complimentary happy hour of sangria with hors d'oeuvres. We had a great time. The staff was friendly and it was an overall relaxing vibe (exactly what we needed!).
"It' s juslt like living in Paradise!!!"
I just came back from my 2nd stay at the Gran Melia. It was like the 1st time AWESOME. The days were spectacular with lots of sun, perfect to be at the huge pool or at the beach. This time I stayed with my nephew in the Red Level Bungalows. Great room with comfy beds & pillows. Lovely bathroom with a huge tub & all the amenities you need to have a perfect getaway. When we arrived Fernando was the driver who took us to the room area, he was smiling, very funny, polite & extremely friendly, he explained where all the facilities were located. Breakfast in the mornings at Caf Soleil cruise style. We had lunch at the Wet Bar near the pool and during the evenings dinner at Pasion. In all the restaurants the food & the service were great. Angelica at Pasion was our waitress for 2 evenings on a row & treated us very special. The staff always greets you no matter where you are. The nature & the Spanish decoration the Hotel has makes your stay more perfect. Excellent place to go with a special someone, get married, go with family or friends. Spa, Tennis court & Gym facilities. Its located less than 20 minutes from Fajardo or Canovanas Outlets at route 66 or 30m to San Juan. Will be back again. Keep up with the 5 stars service.
"Excellent Service"
Ive stayed with my family and friends in this hotel, and I have to say that the experience with service was awesome. We received excellent service in every single detail during our stay. I would like to mention Jaison Echevarra, the Door Man, who kindly offered us services beyond our expectations. Ms. Tania (Cant remember her last name) was also very kind to us, even with a full capacity hotel. Hotel facilities, which are excellent, fall short of the service. Puerto Rico, east area, Gran Meli is a great choice.
"Thanks, Daniel (Butler). We'll be back!`"
Our annual family trip this year, we chose PR and knew we had to squeeze in the "must do's" in a week. The trip started off with a three hour car rental line at Avis/Budget, and prepared ourselves for worse to come. From the moment we checked in (only minutes to be checked in by a very helpful staff, and not to mention free booze while checking in), the entire tone of our trip changed for the better. The Gran Melia was much better than we had expected. The staff were all smiles and each one was eager to help. Despite the mixed reviews we read prior to our trip, our experience was all positive: Everything in the room worked, no towel problems, provided all the amenities. Yes, there are a few access areas to the ocean that were friendly along with a huge 24hr pool. Now squeezing in all the 'must do's" is not as easy for travelers.. We learned early that availability to attractions during our visit were booked weeks out and must have connections. Once checked in, we were greeted by "Butlers" of Melia. Without the Butlers, our trip would have been disappointing. Butler Estephan was instrumental in getting us to the most magical experience on the Bio Bay tour. He called us each morning to check to see how he can help us. Thanks, Estephn! Butler Daniel R: You made our trip, and because of you, we'll be back. Daniel, too, called to check on us each day. Daniel had gone beyond the call of his duty and took personal efforts to make sure we got to see the worlds 2nd best beach on Culebra Island (booked 3 weeks out, and many locals can't even get the ferry tickets). He cared, and it showed. Thanks, Daniel! By the way, the Trump International Golf Course is walking distance (free shuttle if need) is worth every penny. Butlers: talk to your bosses for a special discounted deal and I'll see you again in Gran Melia... Thanks to all of Gran Melia staff for a very memorable family vacation.
"Grand Melia"
Loved this resort and all the amenities. Would definitely recommend going with the red level service. Loved the happy hour and free breakfasts, Most is all loved our butler Tony. Helped us every step of the way from dining to excursions to laundry. Tony made the experience a dream!!! Beautiful room with outside jacuzzi. Maid service was awesome. Would go back tomorrow !
"Stay at Gran Melia"
This hotel is very beautiful. The staff are accommodating and very friendly. The room was very clean. The architect and design of the hotel and rooms are enchanting. Food, drinks and parking rates are pricey as expected with resorts. Pools and surrounding beach was delightful.
"Great butler services from Tony"
Hotel is a beautiful property, what made my first trip to Puerto Rico amazing was my butler Tony, is was 100%, very professional, gave good details, suggested all good locations where to go and eat with the family, was on point with all the tour reservations. Mr. Tony made my first vacation to Puerto Rico unforgettable. I would really go back just because of ButlerTony. Stayed 6 days, 5 nights and had Tony reserve and confirmed all my tours and meal reservations, Visited half of the Island in 4 days it was a great vacations.
"Nice hotel, great staff, money spent well!!"
I stayed here around Fourth of July for about six days. The staff at the concierge desk were very welcoming, check in was fairly quick and easy. We got to our room quickly with the help of the attendants. The food and drinks on the resort were a bit costly, but that was kind of expected. The overall appeal of the hotel was great, some of the staff members were friendly. Others were polite but short. Two staff members in particular were very polite, informative, helpful and very kind throughout our whole stay. Rafy Rodriguez and Jason Echevarria, they went above and beyond to help and were very well- mannered and made our stay even better and more likely to return to the resort. I would recommend this resort to others!!! - Satisfied and likely a returning customer
"Wonderful experience"
I stayed at this hotel in June. We stayed in a garden view suite, They had roses, balloon and cake for my birthday. My husband had called ahead. Everything was beautiful . the breakfast was a real breakfast , omelets, pancakes, waffles, fresh fruit. several fresh juices, a variety of breads, meats. this is a great place, that caters to adults and families. The grounds are immaculate, Koi fish ponds and ice cold fruit flavored water all around the grounds. the Spa is delightful. The beach is rocky, pools are excellent
"Beautiful, quiet experience"
The hotel is incredibly beautiful and the people are incredibly nice who work there. Timeliness and ice machines being without ice are two areas for growth for this place, but overall, I was very happy with my experience here. My husband and I were married in the wedding chapel here and received excellent service from the coordinator, Joel, and an incredibly beautiful service. We were treated really well as newlyweds: given a room upgrade with access to happy hour, private pool, oceanfront room, etc. and they delivered champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to our room the night of the wedding. The concierge also helped us to find some very beautiful restaurants. Definitely worth the visit!
"Beautiful place, I would probably stay there again."
The hotel is gorgeous, but I found it to be to far in.The pool was nice, only one day I found it needed to be cleaned a little more, but that day it was really full of people. The breakfast buffet was great. The food in overall is expensive. If you don't want to eat there, their are places close by (Canovanas). The only negative thing I would say, is that they should some activities during the night ( music, dancing, etc). If you are looking for a place to relax, this is the place. In overall, I loved the place and I would surely go back.
