"Great place for family retreat or romantic getaway."
Don't expect to get a lot done here in regards to work. I am a small business owner and I had a list of tasks that I wanted to complete while on vacation. Needless to say, nothing got done. The place is just too beautiful and there are so many fun activities to keep you occupied. I just could not manage to fit work in between sailing, paddle boarding, snorkeling, kayaking, fine dining, and lounging in the pool. The guest rooms are so beautiful. This is the perfect place to gather family together because there is something for everyone. They even have a swanky disco up on a mountain that over looks the ocean that the hotel shuttles guests to for free. At night the resort becomes so romantic. Starry skies, the sound of the ocean, and glow in the dark art embedded in the pavement creates the scene for romance. My husband and I enjoyed looking up at the stars from our balcony.
The staff at this resort are so wonderful. They bend over backwards to make your vacation wonderful. Sixto Navarro, a manager was a shining star during our trip. He went out of his way to help us stay an extra night in the same room when an unexpected event happened. Thank you Sixto and all of the Palmar staff for making our vacation so incredible! See you soon.
"I'm ready to go back!"
A beautiful place! The rooms were clean and spacious, plus staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Sandy beaches and great snorkeling near the resort. We took an amazing tour to Danzante Island; Said helped us learn to paddle board at the resort then suggested the tour. The captain was excellent and our tour guides Said and Pedro pointed out fish while snorkeling, plus guided a short hike with spectacular views! Lots of activities at the resort and great food! I hope to go back
"Amazing place!"
Just back from 12 wonderful days at the Villa Palmar in Loreto. The setting is amazing and the service was top notch! From the check in, servers (thanks Jorge & Roberto), several tours we went on, everything was great. The beach is very close with great snorkeling right in the bay or a short hike to another beach with a reef with lots of fish to see.
We visited the upgraded Danzante Restaurant twice and had great meals.. The chef dives for fresh chocolate clams right in the bay! We did part of our stay all inclusive and part not and that worked out well.
The free shuttle into Loreto worked well, but there isn't much to see in town, but we did enjoy some good meals there. It is about a 40 minute ride, but the scenery is beautiful.
We went on the Kayak tour and had a good trip. The Danzante Island tour was fantastic with Said & Pedro as our guides. They showed us many things while we snorkeled and the short hike gave great views of the islands. I would definitely recommend that.
The place is super clean and the pools were always available. The evening entertainment was good and the staff worked hard to get guests participation.
We are already planning our next trip to Loreto!
"Spectacular week"
This was our second stay at this resort, and was perfect. We had a wraparound balcony in building 3...highly recommended. Best view on the property. The fitness center and spa are now open. The staff couldn't be nicer. Had a 80 min massage and was exactly what you would get at a nice spa in the US. Facilities are great.
Every meal was great, especially the Al Pastor tacos and the pizza. Luis had the chef make us a true Mexican style cctel de camarn. All fresh ingredients, and was perfect. We did go into town the first day and pick-up some fresh breakfast food and fruit. Even the new store on site has greatly expanded their stock, and the prices are very reasonable.
Manny and Roberto are the best...always with the biggest smile and best service. The resort is just going to get better and better. We'll be back again next year and will bring friends.
"An Exceptional Resort"
My husband and I are just finishing 3wonderful weeks in this slice of paradise-we stayed 2 weeks
last year The natural beauty makes the resort breathtaking but it is the staff, wonderful food that makes the experience extraordinary. Oscar Torres, the F and B mgr and his asst Mario make every dining time fun and friendly. The wait staff well trained. David, the creative mixologist in the Danzante Bar and Fine Dine Restaurant are special as well as Gabrielle and Guillermo's friendliness are delightful. Ler Medina the rooms mgr just left and laEstancia in Cabo is lucky to get him. But his replacement Ivan has new and good ideas and is committed to ensuring the high quality of that department. Luis, the Dive Master, is kind and encouraging and made my dive trip one I won't forget. My only suggestion: add fresh veggies and other selections to Palmita Mkt.
"Beyond Expectations!!"
What an amazing trip with 2 great friends! Never have I been so spoiled!! So many amenities to choose from. The staff is so attentive and caring. From poolside, to the Spa, to the restaurants. All they want to do is make your stay something to remember. Snorkel trip with Said and Pedro was a huge hit! They were just the BEST!! Our 2 bedroom suite was over the top. Views were magnificent. Never wanted for ANYTHING. If R n R is what you want, this is for you. But you also have several activities to choose from, if desired. I would go back in a heartbeat!!! I thought I would never love anything more than Hawaii. Well, I do love this place more!!! A gem on the sea of Cortez. :)
"Tranquility/ Refreshing Vacation"
We just returned from 2 weeks @ VDPalmar. First week we went all inclusive and we and received pampering from all resort staff. Everyone from the first moment we arrived treated us like royalty! The food was superb! The variety and quality of drinks were amazing! All the servers were excellent! Hiking trails have beautiful views! Beautiful sun rises and sets! We had spa treatments and they we amazing! Beautiful views from spa wet areas. We felt at home with the excellent service from all staff, they were always asking how they could help out or make our stay more comfortable! Hats off to the activities team who are working hard to keep the guests entertained! We really appreciated their efforts!!
"Loreto Villa del Palmar"
Beautiful location, friendly staff, choice of food great, room amazing, very helpful staff, but most of all, beautiful. I have never seen such unusual landscape. The hotel is very well designed, or I should say, sculpted. Did not use the spa.
"EXCELLENT"
Go and here and you will be given the Best experince by Sixto and his staff. The food, The entertainment, the beach party, snorkeling, Swimming-Location is a little remote. Just like PV was 20 years ago. Go before it becomes crowded.
"Our return - trip #2 to VDP Loreto!"
My husband and I first visited VDP Loreto in January 2013. I posted a review on Feb 4, 2013 stating that we would be back with our children. And we did return, in December 2013 for two weeks with four adult children ages 21 - 34.
I can only ditto my last five star review and agree 100% with the positive comments by others. My response to the less than positive comments is that it is a personal experience for each traveler based on perceptions and expectations, which can be beneficial in making a great place even better!
Having lost a son last year, the family decided to reunite for a family only vacation. It was absolutely the most memorable, enjoyable family bonding time ever. We had a fabulous time hiking, snorkeling, resting, eating, drinking and sleeping. I am not sure how the all-inclusive works, as we did not do it. What I can say is we thought the meal prices were extremely reasonable (maybe because we are from Alaska and everything is more expensive anyway?) Every meal we had was delicious, from breakfast, to pool food, to room service, to evening dining. Many times, we would simply share meals, as portions were extremely generous. The 13-course dinner for New Years Eve was an experience in itself. The food presentations were fantastic. I had a budget set for our family of six adults and we spent way less than I anticipated and no one went hungry or got thirsty!
Yes, this resort is secluded and away from Loreto, but thats the main reason we love it! This is not a resort on top of resort with beach vendors and loud partying from the hotel next-door kind of place. Those can be found in Cabo and PV. I gladly give up the convenience of downtown hectic Cabo for the serenity of VDP Loreto. I am happy that they offered a shuttle service so we could spend a few days in town. Loreto is a lovely community full of history.
The beach is beautiful, great for morning runs when the tide is out. You can go 100 yards out and the water is knee high. We snorkeled on our own at the resort, as well as the catamaran tour with Wild Loreto. Captain Ward, Efran, and Manual were excellent tour hosts. Fausta was super nice getting it all arranged! Both snorkeling activities were great water is crystal clear! The work out facilities is very nice with full window views to the east while working out.
The evening sky is absolutely breath taking other than Alaska northern lights, Ive never seen such awesome night skies millions of stars as though you could reach out and touch them. Our family enjoyed hiking and exploring, as much as the daily water aerobics. The only thing we did not get a chance do to is the spa service.
I cannot express our appreciation for the excellent customer service we received from every staff person, from housekeeping, to servers, to front desk personnel. We sought medical attention for our daughter from some kind of bug bite one day, nothing serious. The young woman at the front desk (I wish I had her name) texted her mom and asked what we should take for it, and it was in stock at the store. The next day a couple of others at the front desk area actually inquired as to how she was doing.
I know I will miss a name, for that I apologize, but from the Schreder family we sincerely thank those that demonstrated excellent customer service we feel we have made many new friends at our vacation home in Loreto!
Manny, Jorge, Roberto, Juan at poolside you are the best of the best! I was happy to see that Edgar in the Market was still there, along with many other excellent servers, Angel, Alejandro, and many more! We did not have to sign a ticket each time we ordered, but we were not all inclusive. Yes, I still tipped on the ticket, and we tipped servers personally in cash, because we felt they deserved the extra for their excellent service. And of course Mario, a daily host attending to everyone!
Entertainment at its finest with Dovie, Rolfe, Eduardo and Dulce (sorry to see you go Dulce, we will miss you)! The entertainment staff worked so hard, day in and day out, and their enthusiasm never slowed down, from games, to performances to water aerobics! They kept us going!
We had a beautiful three-bedroom unit on the sixth floor of building two with a private Jacuzzi it was perfect for our family of six. Thank you Bill!
Hats off to Mr. Sixto Navaro I hope you continue to recruit the best of the best in your staff as you have so far. You all work so hard and we were very happy with our experience. Rest assured, this will be our go to vacation spot!
Please get more flights in/out of Loreto because our flight was unable to leave Loreto, we all missed our connections and ended up in LAX for two days on standby trying to get home. But frankly, it was all worth it!
"Amazing Property!!!!!!!!!!!"
Love the spa, the people there were very accomodating and friendly..Loved the pool . Alberto included us every night in conversation and got us a first class table for the show..General Manager did a tequila informational special for us two gals as we had something going earlier and could not attend..Would go again! Very romantic sleep town.
"A wonderful experience"
Our whole family stayed there in November, 2013. That's six of us, including two children. We had a great time. The grounds and swimming pool were beautiful, our suite was perfect in every way, the scenery was gorgeous, the staff was wonderful and the food was delicious. On the food: if you eat in the restaurants be prepared for US prices. We had a kitchen and we cooked most of our meals there but would treat ourselves a few times during our week's stay. Buy your food in the town of Loreto and bring it to the resort. They have a store but the choices are limited and the prices are higher, not surprising since the resort is about 40 minutes from downtown Loreto. While you are in the hotel lobby, go to the counter inside the huge lobby where Wild Loreto staff members are. They have some great trips, one of them, a day trip to Danzante Island on a catamaran is worth every penny. You will be forever grateful that you took that trip. We did and the minimum was six people and we qualified so we had the whole catamaran to ourselves with the captain and a guide. Book directly with Wild Loreto and not through the hotel. Less expensive. Went snorkeling at the island it was fantastic! Never saw so many fish, beats Maui by a mile! If you go, you will fly into Loreto (a brand new airport terminal) from LA. Right now, just one flight a day and only a few days a week but I'm sure that will change as Loreto becomes more well know. Loreto is a sleepy little town, traffic is light and the restaurants are good. Ask around for the best ones. Go now so you can tell folks you were there before it changed, which I hope it doesn't. So, you can't go wrong going to this hotel/resort. You will remember the visit for a long time. We certainly will.
"David Syrbu"
This was a resort there are awesome waiters the people that were the best is named Jorge, Manuel, Mario, Duvi, Dulce, Ralfi, Luis, and enricke. The restaurants were fantastic, the shows were great and had Delicious food there. i would recommend this for everyone to buy all inclusive cause it's really nice.
"Magnificent Vacation Resort"
We loved the Villa del Palmar Loreto. This is a beautiful resort with spectacular views and excellent food. The resort staff are incredible. We experienced the best service at all the restaurants, spa, and front desk staff. We purchased the all inclusive for 4 days of our week stay and would recommend this for others. The food is excellent and since the resort is about 30 to 40 minutes from town, we didn't have to worry about transportation on the resort shuttle. We have to mention the most outstanding service provided by Manny who was our waiter poolside. He made sure we had everything we could ask for, and then some. August is probably not the best time to travel to Loreto, it is very hot and humid. However, the weather was perfect for hanging pool side and snorkeling in the bay. We took the owner tour to learn about the property and learned the best time to travel to Loreto is February / March when the whales come to the bay and give birth to their young. We will be back.
"Incredible Vacation"
This Health & Wellness resort is spectacular. The location is 'the most beautiful spot on earth'; the staff is impeccably trained to make the visit relaxing and personable. The spa is the best that I have ever experienced - clean, lovely and exceptionally trained spa professionals. It is located on the most beautiful bay with natural beauty mountains/islands. The restaurants are exceptional; delicious choices with beautiful presentations. If you are looking for nightlight or Mexican tourist interactions, this is not the place for you. Loreto community is about 30 minutes away; there is a shuttle bus, but the peacefulness of this location does not inspire one to leave to visit Loreto except for one afternoon of cultural history.
"Beautiful resort"
We loved the Villa del Palmar Loreto. The room we had was spectacular. The deck alone was 12 x24 with a great view of the pool, the mountains and the ocean. The kitchen was equipped with Bosch appliances. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The resort is only 2 km off the main highway and then about a 40 km drive to Loreto. There is a shuttle from the resort that goes six times per day. We booked a snorkelling tour through the concierge to Coranado Island. It included transportation, lunch and a cruise past a sea lion colony. The lunch was not the greatest but the tour overall for value was well worth it.
"came on timeshare promotion and didn't want to leave"
My husband and I came to Loreto to celebrate my birthday and we split the time in town and at this resort. Honestly, we were expecting the same attitude that prevails at most all inclusive resorts in Mexico, which is indifference by the staff and pushy tourists. This was not the case. Not only was the resort located in the most beautiful setting in Mexico, but everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome. There were actually very few tourists in mid December which was fine with us and you certainly didn't need to 'reserve' a chair at the pool. The timeshare presentation was tolerable. Rick, our salesman, did have a predictable chip on his shoulder, but after being handed over to Bobby, we were able to escape with a smile on our faces. There are hiking trails around the bluffs overlooking the bay and secluded beaches, which are very beautiful. The timeshare didn't make sense, but after spending time in this part of the world, we are actually thinking of spending more time in the Loreto area.
"Very relaxing and friendly place"
While visiting Loreto, we got to see many of their beautiful islands. The trip was magnificient! We have already booked our stay there in 2014 and are very excited to get back to the Islands. We are very thankful to the staff at Villa Del Palmar for their hospitality...Cruz, Alan, Brian, Jennifer, Oscar, Angel, Hazael, Alejandro, Chilao, David, Jesus, Salvador, Roberto, Dulee, German, Edgar and Denise were all extremely helpful to us. We also had the greatest time with Rammses with Wild Loreto tours on our snorkeling trip and deep sea fishing trip!! We will definitely be doing both of those again!! The Islands of Loreto are the most beautiful I've seen in Mexico! Beautiful waters, sea life, safety and the most friendly people.
"Ultimate Baja experience"
We loved our week at the Villa. Beautifully designed, landscaped, situated in Danzante Bay, picturesque, quiet, and for us, just what we needed to relax, restore and revive! We were exhausted from work and needed a complete break. This resort reminds us of French Polynesia, but a lot closer (we live in Vancouver) and a lot less expensive. The quiet and remoteness is the draw for us. We read, swam, walked, hiked, and slept. Having the kitchnette was awesome, because we bought a load of groceries in Loreto before catching the shuttle bus to the resort. We loved the walk along the beach to the nearby little town where we also picked up meat and fresh fruit and vegetables. We enjoyed the cultural experience of visiting a local and town and practicing our Spanish! We love meeting the locals! The service was wonderful. Our room was cleaned daily. Because we cooked our own food, we only went to the restaurants when they had a buffet! We loved the buffet they had one night on the beach! There are wonderful hikes close by, and you have the sense of being in the Baja wilderness. We loved that. To us the Sea of Cortez is spectacularly beautiful, and it is wonderful for swimming and snorkeling. We cannot recommend this resort highly enough. Again, this is not a loud, touristy sort of spot. It is the ideal place for total REST. We had some buggy days when there was no wind...but on windy days, no bugs. We had spray!
"Relaxing in Baja"
We stayed at Villa del Palmar for three days during a 6 week Baja trip. The resort is truly in the middle of nowhere on the Sea of Cortez and its a great place to relax and forget about the stresses of daily life. The resort rents paddle boards, mountain bikes, kayaks, and it also has hiking trails one of which leads over a rocky crag to a private beach that has good snorkeling. (Of course you could also sit by one of the many pools or on the beach and do nothing!) The resort was lightly visited during our stay so I had the ENTIRE womens spa to myself for two days in a row. It was lovely individual Epsom salt bath, Aloe bath, hot hot tub, medium hot tub, cool plunge bath, Swedish shower, steam, sauna, etc. We also visited two of the restaurants at the resort and they were both excellent.
"Coronado Island Tour"
We are members at Villa Del Palmar, and recently took a snorkeling tour run by the resort to Coronado island. We were a little hesitant at first, not knowing how experienced the tour guides would be. As it turned out, they were fantastic, and provided an excellent experience. The tour was led by an employee named Said, along with his first mate Pedro. Said was very knowledgeable regarding the area, and gave us a good historical overview. More importantly, however, he was a kind soul who showed real caring for his guests. He was especially gentle with kids, giving them a great introduction to snorkeling. The boat they used was a very cool inflatable with a fiberglass hull, which definitely cut down on some of the shock waves you encounter in rough seas. Overall, a wonderful time.
"October vacation"
This was our second stay at this resort. Our welcoming started at the airport where we were greeted and gathered at a comfy area to get our shuttle to the resort. At the resort the welcoming continued with a drink and cool towel and indvidual concier to identify the resort's accomdations and the area's activities that are available. Our one bedroom suite was georgeous and very very comfortable. The restaurant's food and service are superb! There is onsite intertainment daily. They also porvide daily free shuttle service to the downtown area which is about 45 minutes away. The spa and its accomdations is the best ever. The whole experience was beautiful and restfull.
"Natures Perfect Retreat"
We just returned home today from 11 wonderful days at Villa del Palmar of Loreto. It was one of the most scenic places I have ever been. I felt like I was in a beautiful picture. Everyone of the staff were so friendly and helpful and we had the nicest one bedroom condo in the 4th building on the 3rd floor. We had a corner room with a wrap around porch. Every morning we ate breakfast on our porch and enjoyed the scenery. We did all the water activities, but probably enjoyed kayaking the most. We also hiked the trails and enjoyed the wildlife. One of my favorite tours was going to Danzante Island with Said and Pedro. Said was a wonderful snorkel guide showing us many things we would not have seen on our own. It definitely was a trip of a lifetime. I would like to suggest that the market at the resort would expand and carry more choices of groceries. We did buy a few things there but had to go into town for more grocery shopping. The restaurants were excellent, but we enjoy doing some meals in our condo. Overall is was a fantastic location and a fantastic resort.
"Go to the middle of nowhere and the lap of luxury..."
We have traveled all over the country and Mexico and I have never found a more relaxing, beautiful place to be. The terrain and ocean are simply stunning and the colors of the sunsets will amaze you. If you need to get away from everything and everyone (including your kids), this is the place.
Villa del Palmar at The Islands of Loreto
Hands down, the best food, accommodations and staff of any of the Villa del Palmar properties. Ask for the food & beverage manager Oscar Torres to select Baja wines for you and recommend your meals. The resort owns all its own activities so the service is straightforward and prompt.
