We traveled to Mexico in August 2014 and we stayed at the Riu Palace Peninsula. We stayed in the adults only section in one of the suites and I cannot praise this resort enough. The food was phenomenal, the beach area was beautiful, and the staff was absolutely amazing. Our suite was cleaned and immaculate every single day. I think that this was such an excellent place to stay that now we plan our vacations around places that have a Riu! I would def recommend staying here you will not be disappointed!

We just finished a week vacation at the Grand Sirenis. We booked through BookVIP and I have to say that I'm extremely pleased with the entire trip, all the way from booking through the conclusion of the trip. We got a phenomenal deal and had an excellent trip!

What Our Customers Are Saying

Written Review

"Amazing Hotel"
Had a wonderful stay here for 2 weeks and completely echo all of the reviews already left here. From the time we arrived the staff were extremely friendly and pleasant- we had welcome drinks on arrival and were given information regarding the hotel and our room. We were on the 12th floor which had lovely views over the hotel, pools and beach. We ate in all of the restaurants- every one had excellent food and we also ate a lot in the buffet restaurant, Las Olas. I could not describe how good the food in here is, with the variety and flavours and style's. This includes breakfast!! The waiters/ waitresses work extremely hard, but you'll find some are better than others! The staff never seem to stop, from those in the bars and restaurants to the entertainments team to the gardeners and maids. All providing and excellent service and all with a smile. I don't think we could have asked for anything more from the place, and if we have an opportunity to return to Cancun this will be top of my list of where I want to be.
"Out of this world!!"
My partner & I stayed at Rui Palace Peninsula at the end of Sept, beginning of October this year. This hotel is the most luxurious hotel EVER, we had an amazing 2 weeks stay here. Food was delicious! Krystal was yum, steak house was yum, Italian was yum, they were all yummy! Bar staff were great, they were willing to make anything at ur request! We spent many nights in the lobby bar with Diego, he is so friendly & chatty & works so hard! We loved a mango tango in the day & a mamosa in the evening :) The cleanliness around the hotel was amazing, the maids had a cloth in their hand everytime you see them. The only bad experience we had with the hotel was our door lock, a few times we got to the room & our keys didn't work. Maintenance had to come and recharge/change the battery. This however is only minor as the hotel is amazing & we soon forgot about this!
"Best stay imaginable"
to all those who give this hotel less than 5 stars, you are out of your trees! I am still here now but have to comment on their service. These staff are literally at your elbow whenever you need anything. Always friendly and smiling. Of course their livelihood depends on this attitude, but the same is true of servers anywhere, and the staff here is 10 cuts above. The hotel is of course spectacular is shape, size and decor. Pools are beautiful. I too recommend the villa suites, and even small things like having a poolside bed are appreciated. Drinks are fine, food has been perhaps just short of magnificent. Kulinarium was excellent. The vibe here is young, but a bit reserved. It is not crazy lively, but that is all at your fingertips anyway. I would hold this above any other Chain hotel in Mexico and the Carribean. Love it
"The Best In Cancun"
Clean rooms, friendly animation teams, great choice of international drinks at the Bar and knowledgable and friendly Bar staff. Waiting and Bar staff can become really attentive if given a bit of respect, and the occasional Tip. If your budget is not tight, and you are looking for a luxury getaway, this Hotel is more suited to couples. The only complaint I cools possibly have is the erratic timings of the Room Being Serviced, and despite the massive spread put on at meal services ( The Biggest I have seen in a hotel of this class ) the selection did become a bit boring and repetitive after the first week.
"This is paradise!"
I have traveled to Mexico many times and stayed at different resorts. I had a favorite before visiting the RIU Palace. The resort is beautiful and very well maintained. Unlike other resorts they are well staffed and service is amazing. There are 5 different pools as well as the beach which is private, and there is drink service even on the beach. It is family friendly, but also has an adults only area. In addition, there is a water sports excursion booth on the beach if you are looking for fun in the ocean. I highly recommend the RIU Palace.
"Amazing Property!"
We spent four nights at the this property. Great rooms, great food, great service! The staff very friendly and helpful! This property is an all inclusive. Food 24/7. Great restaurants/entertainment on site. Once you check in - immediately take time and make reservations for dinner (some require reservations and they fill up fast). You can do this to the left of the check in counter at the concierge desk. Another noteworthy tidbit; If you need lunch or snack items - go to the sports bar - open 24/7 they have breakfast/lunch/fruit items that you can pack for the day. Be careful what you eat off site. Remember take a nice back pack to carry lunch/water etc. for your day excursions off property. Remember all food & drinks are free on site!!!!!! Lots of fun tours: My favorite go on the Cuba Maya Encounter! We are 50+ and loved it!!!!! Here you will drive into the jungles and see how these amazing people really live. Zip lines, repelling, swimming in a underground lake, canoeing, Lunch, Mayan ruins!!!! This will be the highlight of your trip! I even went fishing and caught a 47" Barracuda. Fishing cost about $120 per person for 6 hrs. This property was located good for many activities. For $1 you can get on the public bus right in front of the property and ride any where? Felt safe the whole trip!
"A terrific all inclusive experience"
Stayed here for just 1 week with my wife at the beginning of October. We were picked up by our private transfer at the airport and safely arrived 30-40 minutes later at the hotel. The staff greeted us as soon as we pulled up to the entrance, our bags were taken & a complimentary drink awaited us at reception. We were checked in by a chap named 'Daniel' who was both friendly & efficient. Our room was on the 11th floor with a large balcony offering a great view of the beach/ocean and the facilities down below. The room was immaculate and extremely spacious. The shower/ wash facilities were as good as what we have in our apartment in London (huge walk in shower and his/her sinks). Plenty of wardrobe space for my wife's catalogue of clothing. Mini bar which was re-stocked daily with beer, water and soft drinks (soda) not to mention the optics on the wall which featured brandy, vodka and tequila! The breakfast, lunch and dinner each day was a real treat. Usually, i find, buffet food to be quite greasy, mundane and sloppy however the standards at this resort were top notch. There are also a number of a la carte restaurants on the resort too which are worth a visit at least once or twice. I've never been to a hotel where I've seen so many cleaners, there are constantly members of staff attending to all area's of the resort which is always a good sign. The swimming pools were cleaned daily first thing in the morning, plenty of places to kick back & relax either pool side or on the private beach. You won't even have to lift a finger as there are waiters who will come by and take your drinks order too if you just ant to stay as you are & worship the sun. Every now and then you'll see a load of iguana's wandering around which is awesome if, like me, you're just used to pigeons. The bars in the hotel are fantastic, always great service & an array of cocktails/ spirits on the menu. I'm a huge NFL fan so the 24/7 sports bar was just the ticket! All in all, a brilliant week spent at this resort. The only thing I'd say that was a little odd about this resort was the decor in certain parts of the resort. It looks like a cross between Scar Face's house and Miami Vice, very 80s however please don't be put off, its rather amusing if anything. If we do return to Cancun we will stay here again and certainly recommend it to anyone who is thinking of a sun vacation. I do recommend guests take some pesos or dollars to tip, the staff work very hard for minimal pay so a tip to the waiters poolside or the chamber maids really does go long way.
"One of the best hotels"
Staff are very friendly, the food is very high quality, bed are enormous. You will never get bored at your sun bed because of the entertainment staff who very kind and will try to get you to do everything, they will also take you to the nightclubs. There is a selections of restaurants eg Mexican steak house a over 18 restaurants for adults only etc, wich is also included in the all inclusive, there is a buffet wich changes it's theme every night. There is free wifi although I did have problems with the connection.
"Nice, as all-inclusive resorts go"
It's what I expected from all-inclusive resort in Cancun. The food was bountiful and adequate, albeit not amazing or even great), as was the liquor. The service was very friendly and attentive, the beach lovely. I wish they didn't have poolside "entertainment", as I prefer quiet. I went for a destination wedding, otherwise wouldn't consider a large all-inclusive resort in Cancun. If that's what you're looking for though, this will likely meet your expectations and potentially even exceed them.
"Best place in Cancun"
The resort would be great for nothing more than the hotel, location and the restaurant choices. However, Ernest and his team are what customer service is all about. They go above and beyond to make each guest feel that they are the most important person there. They really do go over the top to make sure you have a great time. The attention to detail from the way that each pool chair is in a perfect line, immaculate interiors that are constantly maintained, quickly responsive facilities department and the hospitality of the staff just make this the perfect place to go. Kudos to Gerardo - Captain, Marlene - lunch/breakfast buffet server, Jose - pool bartender & Fernando our pool attendant is just fantastic. Thanks for another great experience and we will return again.

"Another Birthday"
We just did 7 days at the Peninsula, We really Liked it. Check inn was very fast, our room was very large with large balcony. The al lacart restaurants we very hard to get reservations too. So we did lunch and dinner at the buffet restaurants, you have a lot to choose from. We liked samuel and Jenny there they took good care of us every day. the pool area had good servise with Jorge. You can walk over to the RIU Caribe and have a drink, and did take out a hobbie cat. thats a small sail boat and use other water craft there.. We meet people from all over the world at the pool bar,and lobby bar were Diego took care of every one The hardest worker I ever saw.We also found the beach bar on the north end of the villa sectionit is open late, its Quite and has rest rooms right there. witch are few and far between. We did walk over to the RIU Cancun about a 30 minute walk. we stayed there many years ago and really liked it. Not any more sence the renovation it has lost that home E feeling. The RIU Palace Las Americas is the same still has class,I hope they do not redo that one. We will be back again next year..
"Absolutely stunning hotel!"
This hotel is absolutely fantastic. I have stayed in all of the Riu Hotels in Cancun and this is by far the nicest, especially for couples people looking for a quieter holiday. The only time I would stay elsewhere in Cancun is if I was part of a large, younger group where I would recommend the Riu Cancun instead.
"Great Place to Stay"
We stayed at Riu Palace Peninsula last week and had an awesome time. This resort is beautiful and laid out in a really simple way. Since its only 2 years old, everything is modern and nice. The rooms are awesome with jacuzzi tubs and awesome views. Since its on the peninsula it seems to have more grounds than some of the other resorts in Cancun. There is a main sandy beach in front and then a larger rocky beach along the side. You can still fully use the rocky side because they have steps cut out in the rocks and there is sand when you are in the water. There are 4-5 pools and a very nice swim up bar. The service is amazing and all of the staff go out of there way to help you. Lots of restaurant choices, 24 hour sports, bar, evening shows and entertainment and fun afternoon pool team. Great for families and couples of any age. I would definitely recommend and I would return myself.
"Best hotel i've ever stayed in!"
The staff at the hotel are amazing, from the bar staff to the resturant staff they were all very attentive and even though its optional to tip them they provided a high standard of service. Room was clean and was as pictured, when we arrived our shower light wasn't working and the magnet for our air conditioning on our balcony door had fallen off, but as soon as we told the recepetion it was fixed in seconds! Be careful with condensation on the floor when you open the balcony door and it will be slippery. The food at the hotel is stunning, it is definatly worth booking the resturants with the concierge in the mornings and the menus are outside the resturants for you, there are restrictions on attire so make sure you check before going. The hotel isn't near the main shops and la isla mall so you probably need to take a bus but there is only two bus routes which are uptown and downtown and it cost about 20 pesos which is the equivalent to 1 but this is only one way. If you want a taxi you need to arrange the price before getting in. Coconut divers is opposite the hotel and I would recommend them, just be careful that they know your ability as they will try to sell you trips that may be beyond your capability like the cenotes dive which was challenging for a diver with 300 dives under there belt! The other dive centre, dive cancun is also near but they seemed like the could not be bothered with you.
"Travel Fit"
My Husband and I just returned from 10/18-10/25 stay. We have stayed in Cancun 2 other times and Playa Del Carmen 4 times. We have also stayed at other Rius and this one by far is the most modern. The food was very good, and it is possible (for those that care) to eat somewhat healthy. There is a large salad bar with spinach as a choice, as well as chicken breast most days and veggie options. The gym was pretty good for a resort in Mexico and opens at 7am, but seemed to be open earlier every morning. 3 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, bike, universal machine, free weights, as well as other machines. It was never to busy in the morning but if it were you can take your cardio session outside. The entertainment team was epic, they have karaoke in the sports bar some nights, as well as activities throughout the day. If you like iced coffee an option is to brew your own at night and put in refrigerator for the morning. If you are particular about your sweetener, bring your own. (I use truvia) We drink a ton of water and at other resorts always have to call and request more at the lobby. Here you can get bottled water at the bars so we just stocked up and got our water intake each day. Boom.
"Great Stay at the RPP!"
I stayed at the Riu Palace Peninsula over July 4th weekend for 5 days. My boyfriend and I had an amazing time there. We were pleasantly surprised when we received an upgrade on our room as we were celebrating an anniversary. There was champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in our room. We had an amazing view. The food for breakfast was great. The bartenders were wonderful and very helpful, especially Bernardo at the pool bar. We loved the food at the Mexican restaurant. The great thing about the RPP is that you have the opportunity to go to the other 3 Riu resorts free of charge. We walked over to the Riu next door to drink and swim and we took the bus to the Riu Las Americas and enjoyed a great day at their beach. I would definitely stay at the Riu Palace Peninsula again!!
"Perfection"
Myself and boyfriend booked the Riu Palace in June this year after researching nice Hotels in Cancun.. we were not dissapointed!! We choose The a la carte package through Thompson and from check in at Gatwick the entire Holiday was amazing! We recieved taxi transfer to and from Airpirt to the Hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted at reception by Daniel he upgraded us to the 14th floor. He was plesant polite and welcoming. We we allocated room 1421 and the room WOW gorgeous with breathtaking views of the beach and pools. Jacuzzi in the room. We were in this everyday! Optics were refilled daily along with the fridge. The maids often left us little towels made up as swans or other animals and one evening we came back from dinner and the maid had strewn petals on our bed had towel shaped hearts and had left champagne and chocolate coated strawberries for us beautiful touch I thought. . . The maids would also call in the evenings to see if we needed fresh toweling. . Yes we did tip them but its worth it for all the work they do and to find all the little surprises. Restaurants were great all the food was lovely .. on Thursdays the fo a Lobster evening in the main buffet. My boyfriend loved this. Reservations do need to be made for the japenese mexican and steakhouse. We did go to the Mexican Restaurant on one evening and it was nice but I preffered the buffett. Some reviews say the food I repatative but my reasoning on this is that if you choose something different each night instead of a little of everything you won't get fed up :) The quality of the food is fab and again for a small tip the guys go out of thier way to make you feel special.. we even got rose petals on our table and candles... special mention to Sal (Salvador) who looked after us the entire time. He always has a hi 5 and a smile on his face. We spent most of our time at the beach and made the most of the all inclusive drinks. We LOVED Javier who worked endlessly running from bar to beach to serve all the guests he is an incredible worker with a warm smile always. The beach is a little rocky but this didnt bother us as the sea is beautiful. Pools seemed good too but we are beachy types. We took 2 excursions the Boat trip is a must we had an awesome day met new friends snorkled and had fun. The Jungle tour was ok it was a long day.I will take the boat trip again. We bought our excursions from the Riu rather than Thompson as it worked out 200 dollars cheaper overall. Ask for Willie. Spa is amazing we treated ourselves to a massage and it was very good. I wanted to return on my 2nd week but weather was good and didnt want to leave the beach. Aldo.. Thompson tour guide is great also.My boyfriend bought me perfume in duty free in Gatwick and I left it on the plane, spoke to Aldo about it and he got it back!!! It had flown back to Gatwick and again to Mexico and he brought it to our Hotel. What a sweetie The bars are so good and in evenings and the VIP bar has mad cocktails. Overall Riu is outstanding, its a paradise and at the end of the day your Holiday is what you make it but my goodness it desreves 5star We will return. Well done Riu

"Great hotel"
I stayed here with my wife for 10 days in September, we had a great time. The hotel is modern and clean, our room did not disappoint. We enjoyed the music and entertainment around the pool area, the swimming pools were lovely with great views over the beach and plenty of choice! We also enjoyed the food options and had no problems booking into each of the speciality restaurant. This hotel is well worth a visit.
"Most amazing trip yet"
This place exceeded my expectations! It was amazing. Service top notch! We stayed feb 12 for a week in 2014. I like to sleep in a little and my husband gets up early he would hit up the coffee bar and take pics on the beach. The beach isn't the best I've seen but felt very private and I liked that. Never had a problem finding a spot there or by the pool and always someone was coming by to offer drinks to us. We're going away twice this year and our first trip will be mid nov and to cuba. I know that no place is going to surpass this place and so I'm having no expectations. We're hoping to catch a deal for this place in January tho, and if we don't then we will be coming in 2016. I would return here with out a doubt. It is a little more expensive than other places in cancun but it's well worth spending the extra money. We're just not ready to commit to one place just yet as we're only 4 years old in our travels. Saving to buy a house and while we wish we can afford to come here twice a year we can't. We were supposed to be there with friends right now that we met on our last trip and while we know it would have been a blast with them we just couldn't get the time off. Congrats Amber and Brian on your engagement!! Maybe we will get a wedding invite!
"Riu palace"
Best hotel in cancun. Was only a year or two old when my wife and I visited. So clean, staff were so attentive. Food was amazing and so many choices with 7 restaurants!! So many bars and pools were amazing.
"Perfect above & beyond"
WOW!!! Is all I can say about this hotel , you are treat like royalty , so friendly and helpful , you have a selection of restaurants to choose from but my favourite was the standard buffet restaurant as the variety and quality of the food was perfect, not only was the food great but the waiters were outstanding We met a gentlemen called Samuel Soca and he went out his way every night to make our dining experience enjoyable in every way if you go find this waiter he will make your night perfect Reading some reviews on here and really have to laugh at some negative comment , I say try it for yourself you Will Not be disappointed will 100% be returning to this hotel OUTSTANDING
"Did not disappoint!"
We stayed here for 6 nights in June & couldn't have been more pleased. Have nothing negative to say. The employees were above & beyond helpful. I was worried about the buffet food but was pleasantly surprised everyday. Will definitely recommend RIU Palace to others & will stay at other RIU's when possible.
"Amazing place!!,,"
we stayed for 10 nights at the Rio palace peninsula hotel and honestly can not think of anything that they could improve on. The range of Al la cart restaurants were fantastic, even the buffet food was top notch with different options every day. The hotel facilities were great too, the rooms, pools and grounds were really clean and modern. The swim up bar was the highlight with freshly made cocktails made by really friendly bar staff George & Ruben. Top hotel and will definitely stay again!
"Perfection"
Stayed here for two weeks with my boyfriend - Absolute paradise!!!!! We were treat like a king and queen from the minute we arrived to the minute we left! The staff can't do enough to help you they are all fantastic! The food is out of this world!!! Whether you choose the buffet or one of the special restaurants, it is all top class. The drinks are brilliant - All 'proper alcohol' as i would say, no cheap paint stripper type of stuff! The rooms are fabulous...all with a sea view and cleaned to the highest of standards both morning and evening. The location is perfect you can have a beach day since it is right on the beach, a pool day or venture out on excursions which are all fairly close by. We would like to make a special mention to our good friend Samuel who we think is the BEST waiter in the buffet restaurant! His service and friendliness was absolutely fantastic and it was a pleasure to get to know him! He truley went out of his way to make our holiday the best ever. There is not one negative comment I have to make about this amazing beautiful hotel :-) Well recommended! Two very very happy customers :-D
"Amazing place"
We stayed here in September we were celebrating our ruby anniversary we didn't know what to expect WOW what a surprise entrance to the hotel was lovely. The booking in was easy we had a cocktail while we were waiting. we had an up grade to our room and what a room 11 floor wonderful views. food was outstanding from breakfast through to evening we could have champagne caviar every day if you want. Went to the steak house 3 times the Italian 2 recommended on both. we had great service we would like to thank a few people who made our holiday special Selena Miriam Viktor and Gerrardo who went out his way to make our anniversary very special. Went on three trips expensive for what they were. The gardens are kept well contained so thanks to the gardeners and to the maids who works hard to make the rooms clean thankyou to Jenny she done a wonderful job for our anniversary. Would we go to this hotel again yes no problem.
"Had a great time at the Riu"
We just got back from the Riu Palace Peninsula with another couple and we have a great time. This is our 2nd Riu and we were pleased with the condition of the property. The food was great and the staff was wonderful. Our room as well as our friends room was laid out nicely and we had a nice view of the ocean. The weather could have been nicer on two of the days, but the hotel has no control of that. We liked being able to go into the ocean or pick one of the pools to relax they also always had someone walking around to bring us back a drink or two. The breakfast buffet was always great and we found the best waitress on the 1st day and stuck with her every day(her name was Miriam and her partner was Sonja). Salvador from Tamales (specialty restaurant) made our 29th wedding anniversary dinner funny and memorable. The pool bar crew worked their butts off and walked miles each day to make sure the guests were hydrated (Bernado, Fili, Fide). Also Francisco at the Sports Bar makes a great coffee and allowed us to use the remote to find our football game. The only thing that would make the experience more fun would be allowing guest requests of music or a free juke box type system where anyone could select a tune or two to hear (this is for the swim up bar and Sports Bar). We would go back again if given the chance, but there are 98 other Riu properties to try.
"Beyond my expectations"
This hotel will blow you away. Everyone from the front desk to the maids were wonderful. The staff goes above and beyond to be helpful. We were upgraded to a beachfront room in the villas at check in. Services in given with a genuine smile on their face. The food at the buffets and restaurants were plentiful and delicious. Our favorite meals were the poolside lunch buffets. The beach and pool area were spacious and beautiful. We were able to find lots of secluded areas at night to relax in the hammocks or beach "beds" on the beach or an alcove in the lounges. They do not skimp on the alcohol in the drinks. Would go back in a heartbeat.
